0008 Reunion

0008 Reunion

On this day, Tantai Qing went to a Hope Primary School he sponsored to do a charity event. After the event, the principal and several other leaders warmly invited him to take a group photo.

"Come on, okay, 3, 2, 1..."

Surrounded by several school leaders, Tantai Qing stood in the middle, smiled slightly at the camera, and politely posed for a few photos.

Afterwards, during a conversation with school leaders, Tantai Qing inadvertently spotted a woman in a polka-dot red dress standing under the shade of a tree not far away.

She bent down to speak to the little girl in front of her, a gentle smile on her face, looking tender and gentle, a completely different side of her from when she was with others.

It was right after class, and the students came in droves, running into the convenience store with light steps.

"Tao Tao, do you want some snacks?" Jiang Jifan glanced in the direction of the convenience store and smiled.

The little girl hesitated for a moment, then finally pursed her lips and nodded.

Jiang Jifan straightened up, smiled, took her hand, and walked towards the convenience store.

The small shop was crowded with students, both from lower and upper grades. Apart from the cashier and the staff, there were few adults inside. The tall Jiang Jifan led the thin and short little girl into the shop, which attracted a lot of attention.

The convenience store was rather old and didn't have shopping baskets. Jiang Jifan looked around, grabbed a few plastic bags from the shelf, and let her choose her own snacks.

Zhong Tao is introverted. Even though she offered to buy snacks for me, I was still a little cautious. With her following behind me, I became even more careful and didn't dare to take any expensive snacks. I just picked up a few that looked "healthier" and threw them into the plastic bag in her hand.

Jiang Jifan followed behind, watching coldly. He saw her frequently pass by a pile of spicy strips, but hesitated to make a move. Moreover, she would turn around and look at him every time she picked up something, clearly showing her restraint.

She sighed inwardly, then stepped past her, grabbed a few packets of spicy strips, tossed them into a plastic bag, and said with a generous smile, "Eat if you want! This is a small amount of money, I can afford it."

Zhong Tao blushed with embarrassment after her thoughts were exposed, and whispered, "Yes, thank you, sister."

Fearing she would lecture her, she quickly added, "I'll only eat a little bit. My mother said that children shouldn't eat too much of this kind of thing, or their stomachs will get upset."

"Yes." Jiang Jifan nodded. "Your mother is right, Tao Tao is very obedient."

Zhong Tao accepted her praise, and an uncontrollable smile crept onto his lips. He continued to go and get his favorite snacks, accompanied by her.

The convenience store was almost entirely filled with students buying snacks on their own; they'd never seen an adult accompanying them. Seeing the students carrying several bags full of snacks, they couldn't help but cast envious glances at Zhong Tao.

"One hundred and five cents in total." The short, stout male boss typed a bunch of numbers on his computer, and after getting the total, he casually said it. But when he looked up and saw the tall, beautiful woman next to the little girl, he paused.

"Can I pay with WeChat?" Since the rise of mobile payment, Jiang Jifan has lost the habit of carrying cash.

The boss seemed to have just come to his senses and hurriedly stammered, "Yes, yes, yes!"

The shop owner, who had just finished unloading her goods, dropped the empty box she was holding with a "thump," glanced in her husband's direction, and said disdainfully, "Look at that pathetic sight!"

Jiang Jifan didn't notice their movements. He paid with his phone and left with the girl.

She glanced at the several plastic bags piled high in her hands, turned to the girl and asked, "It seems like you bought a lot. Can you carry these upstairs by yourself?"

Zhong Tao nodded firmly, "Yes, sister. Have you forgotten? I'm very strong."

Jiang Jifan smiled upon hearing this.

Yes, how could she forget? The girl in front of her wasn't a pampered city girl, but a girl from a proper farming background.

As she laughed, she felt a pang of sadness. At an age when she should be carefree, she was forced to shoulder the heavy responsibility of her family.

"Let's go eat. We can't let you go back to class hungry."

Tantai Qing was supposed to leave after the event, but he suddenly changed his mind and said he wanted to see the environment of their school cafeteria, so the group took him to the cafeteria for a meal.

"I'm sorry, Mr. Tan, the food here is mainly for the students, so it may not taste as good as what you usually eat..." The principal saw that he was absent-minded and assumed that the food in the cafeteria was not to his liking, so he quickly apologized.

Tantai Qing shook her head and said it was alright.

Actually, these are just very common dishes. He's not a picky eater, so he didn't find them unpalatable. It's just that he wasn't paying attention to them.

His gaze fell on the woman wearing a red headband, a few seats away.

The woman was making a phone call while watching the little girl eating beside her. She didn't know what the little girl said to her, but then she smiled and took a tissue to wipe the little girl's mouth.

The principal followed his gaze and asked, "Is that someone Mr. Tan knows?"
