0036 Awkward

Before Tantai Qing could even speak after the door was opened, she pounced on him.

He embraced her still trembling body, feeling tenderness, and gently comforted her, "Don't be afraid, I'm here."

Jiang Jifan buried her face in his chest, smelling his familiar scent, and her restless heart gradually calmed down.

After a long while, she finally lifted her head from his embrace.

Tantai Qing looked down at her. The usually resolute man now showed a hint of fragility between his brows. Thinking of the danger she had just encountered, he felt even more heartache.

He raised his hand to stroke her face and asked softly, "Did I scare you?"

Jiang Jifan nodded and murmured, "I was really scared just now."

"Thank goodness you came."

On his way here, he analyzed why she was being followed and figured it was probably because the security in this neighborhood wasn't very strict.

A thought popped into his mind.

Tantai Qing took her hand and led her inside, closing the door behind him. He glanced at her small but perfectly formed house and suddenly suggested, "Jifan, it's not safe here. Why don't you come stay at my place for now?"

"I feel more at ease with me by your side."

Jiang Jifan was somewhat tempted by his suggestion, but also hesitated.

He noticed her hesitation, so he said, "If you don't want to come to my place, then let me stay here, otherwise I won't feel at ease."

He was particularly cautious and stubborn about matters concerning her personal safety.

Jiang Jifan felt a warmth in his heart. He looked back at his small house, pondered for a moment, and finally nodded in agreement: "I'll go to your place instead."

Then, with his company, she packed two sets of clothes and toiletries, and went out with him.

His residence is accessible by elevator; his doorstep is right outside the elevator.

Although Jiang Jifan had prepared himself mentally before coming, he was still so shocked by the furnishings that he stood rooted to the spot and couldn't move.

"This apartment is rather small. Which room would you like to stay in?"

Small?

She looked around the house, which was small to him but actually nearly four or five hundred square meters in size, and remained silent.

Tantai Qing put her luggage down, and seeing that she didn't speak, he turned around and walked up to her. "What's wrong? Is something wrong?"

"I'm estimating the size of the house," she said suddenly, putting down her bag with a serious expression.

Tantai Qing was surprised by the question and chuckled after a slight pause. "This is the smallest house we have here, about 400 square meters."

He only thought about living alone and didn't think much about it, so he just bought a place here casually.

But now that she's here, he's a little worried that the house isn't big enough.

Her tiny, run-down apartment is probably not even as big as one of his bedrooms...

Although he had always known that his father was very wealthy, Jiang Jifan still couldn't help but feel a little melancholy in the face of the stark contrast between the rich and poor.

A moment later, she found her own thoughts somewhat amusing.

It's not like she's never been in this kind of environment before, so why is she still acting like a clueless young person who's just entered the workforce?

Jiang Jifan had unconsciously comforted himself, and his mood immediately brightened up.

Thinking about the question he had just asked her, she said, "I'm fine with whichever room I stay in, it doesn't matter."

It's not like I'm staying here permanently anyway.

But Tantai Qing was unwilling to let her be so casual, so he took her to see each room one by one.

When they arrived at the master bedroom, he opened the door and led her in, saying, "This is my room."

Jiang Jifan went in and took a look. His room was decorated in a minimalist style, and the layout and decoration were very beautiful, just the style she liked.

but……

She glanced at the neatly made two-meter-long bed and felt a strange, unsettling feeling.

“If you like it here, I’ll go sleep somewhere else,” he whispered in her ear, his hand on her shoulder.

Jiang Jifan shook his head. "No need. You are the host. How can I let you sleep somewhere else? I can sleep in the room next to yours."

Tantai Qing respected her opinion, but still told her, "Don't be so polite with me, Ji Fan, just treat this place as your home."

"Her house isn't that big," Jiang Jifan thought to herself, but on the surface she still smiled and nodded at him.

Knowing that she had to go to work the next day, Tantai Qing briefly explained the layout of the house to her and asked her to settle in as soon as possible.

She took her clothes to the bathroom to shower, and when she came out to dry her hair, she saw him pouring water in the living room.

He must have taken a shower while he was showering. He was wearing gray loungewear, and his usually meticulously combed hair was loose, making him look even more gentle.

"Where's the hair dryer?" Jiang Jifan asked as he approached.

Tantai Qing looked up at her. Her face was bare, unlike the exquisite makeup she wore. It had a touch of college student naivety and made her look much younger than when she was wearing makeup.

She was without makeup when they first met, so she's not afraid to show it to him now.

His gaze shifted from her wet, curly hair to her chest, and his eyes were startled as if they had been suddenly stung.

Jiang Jifan looked down in confusion as he saw that the man was silent and his gaze was fixed on his chest.

That one glance almost made her explode.

Two raised dots were printed on the thin fabric of the pajamas.

She never wears underwear after showering at home, and for a moment she forgot that she was in his house.

She hurriedly covered her chest with a towel, her face flushing red and then turning pale, her eyes darting around, unable to meet his gaze.

Tantai Qing seemed not to see it, turned around gentlemanly, placed the cup on the table, and said softly, "You go back to your room first, I'll bring the hairdryer in for you later."

Jiang Jifan said "okay," and then fled in a panic.

After she left, Tantai Qing recalled the scene that had just appeared and couldn't help but lick her dry lips.
