0063 Newcomer
"Knock knock!"
"Come in."
"Sister Jiang, we just got two new employees in our department. I'll bring them over for you to see." Qu Mei gestured for the boy behind her to close the door.
Jiang Jifan closed the file in his hand and looked up to see two new faces standing in front of his desk, a man and a woman, both of whom were fairly good-looking.
She placed her hands on the table, smiled slightly at them, and said calmly, "My name is Jiang Jifan. You can call me by the same names they use. Now, please introduce yourselves."
"Hello, Sister Jiang, my name is Tang Yujin..." The girl among the two spoke first, her voice loud and clear, her introduction appropriate.
"Hmm." Jiang Jifan nodded as he looked through their resumes.
When it came to the male students, her gaze fell on the column for his alma mater. She was somewhat surprised, looked up at him, and smiled, "You're from Minzu University?"
Xu Zhengyan's self-introduction was interrupted by her. He stopped, not understanding why, and nodded after hearing her words, obediently saying, "Yes, Sister Jiang."
"Our Sister Jiang also graduated from Minzu University," Qu Mei said with a smile, explaining to him.
Xu Zhengyan quickly realized what was happening and greeted her, "Hello, senior."
"That's rare," Jiang Jifan remarked, then turned to Qu Mei and smiled, "I've been here for so many years, and this is the first time I've met someone from Minzu University."
Qu Mei echoed her words a few times, and then said at the right moment, "Sister Jiang, it's getting late, shall I take them to familiarize themselves with the surroundings first?"
"Okay." Jiang Jifan turned his gaze to the two newcomers, his expression gentle, and advised, "You two should first familiarize yourselves with our department environment under the guidance of Senior Qu Mei. There's no rush to get you started these next few days. Qu Mei will add them to the work group later. You can ask them any questions in the work group or message me privately if you have any questions."
The group agreed and then left through the door.
“Xu Zhengyan…” Jiang Jifan looked at the handsome and sunny boy’s face on the resume, seemed to be thinking, and finally just shrugged and put the resume down.
"That's great, you went to the same school as your boss. She'll definitely take good care of you in the future." After getting familiar with the surroundings, Tang Yujin remembered that Jiang Jifan had specifically mentioned their alma mater and whispered enviously.
Xu Zheng smiled but remained silent, showing no sign of smugness.
He was initially captivated by Jiang Jifan's beauty, and later, upon learning that she was an alumna of his alma mater, he felt even closer to her.
This was his first job after graduation, and it would be a lie to say he wasn't nervous, but now it doesn't seem so scary.
During lunch break, everyone left their workstations to get their meals.
Their company outsources the cafeteria, and at lunchtime, a designated person delivers the meals they ordered the day before and places them in their respective lockers.
"Hey, Zheng Yan, your workstation is relatively close by, so why don't you take Jiang Jie's meal in for her later?" Xu Zheng Yan had just closed the cabinet door when he turned around and heard Qu Mei instruct him.
"Okay." Xu Zhengyan bent down, opened the cabinet with Jiang Jifan's name on it, took out the boxed lunch inside, and glanced at it.
He was a little surprised by the two meat dishes and two vegetable dishes; he hadn't expected her to eat so much. In his impression, girls usually had smaller appetites.
"Senior, here's your food."
When he came in, Jiang Jifan was smiling and on the phone.
She glanced at the boxed lunch on the table, smiled at him, and said, "Thank you."
Thinking of something, she moved her phone away again and reminded them, "You don't need to call me senior. Just call me what they call me from now on, or you can call me something else if you want."
Xu Zhengyan felt a chill run down his spine, thinking that she had mistaken him for someone trying to get close to her, and he awkwardly agreed.
"Have you eaten?" He heard her ask the person on the phone in an extremely gentle voice before he left.
"The food at the company wasn't very good today, so I just ordered a few things randomly..."
No wonder.
Back at his workstation, Tang Yujin ate her meal while leaning over to him and asked, "Hey, when you went in just now, was your boss still on the phone?"
Xu Zheng said yes.
"Judging from her sweet expression, I think she's having a long phone conversation with her boyfriend." Tang Yujin is a bit of a gossip and can't keep secrets, so she chattered on and on about everything she had seen and heard to Xu Zhengyan.
A sweet look on her face? Xu Zhengyan didn't look closely, but her voice was indeed much softer when she was on the phone than when she was in front of them.
It's quite normal for a beautiful and capable woman like her to have a boyfriend.
So Xu Zhengyan didn't take it to heart and just listened and moved on.
Author's note: I've slightly altered the timeline and released the puppy earlier than expected. Stay tuned! ^▽^
