0087 Feeling Wronged

0087 Feeling Wronged

Jiang Jifan opened his misty eyes, groped for his incessantly ringing phone, and glanced at it.

Seeing the note above, she hesitated for a moment, but finally put down her phone.

"Jifan, are you home?"

After the third call was disconnected, Tantai Qing sent a message.

He initially thought she was busy, but when he called her again much later, there was still no answer.

Tantai Qing frowned, a strange unease rising in his heart. His intuition told him that something must have happened to her.

"Jifan, is something wrong? Can you let me know? I'm very worried about you."

With a heart full of anxiety, he dialed her number one last time.

Thankfully, it finally went through this time.

"Hello……"

When Tantai Qing heard her slightly hoarse voice on the phone, she breathed a sigh of relief, but at the same time felt strange, because her voice was not like this just an hour or two ago.

"Jifan, what's wrong?" He keenly sensed her unusual emotions and asked softly.

"I'm fine... hiccup!"

The sudden hiccup startled her. Afraid that he would hear something, Jiang Jifan immediately buried his head in the pillow and pushed the phone away.

Realizing that she might have cried before, Tantai Qing felt even more uneasy. He tried to control his impatience, quickening his pace while patiently asking, "Jifan, did someone bully you?"

The other end of the phone was quiet; no one spoke.

He glanced at the muddy path not far away, stopped, pursed his lips, and said in a soft voice, "Ji Fan, although I don't know what happened to you, I've always been here for you. Don't be afraid."

Jiang Jifan lifted his head from under the pillow, glanced at the strange profile picture he had forced him to change to yesterday to tease him, his eyes blurry with tears, and said in a muffled voice, "Taiqing, I miss you..."

"Okay, we'll meet soon." His tone was gentle yet resolute, as if he would truly be by her side at any moment.

She knew he was just trying to comfort her, so she didn't believe him. Embracing her disappointment and longing, she wrapped herself in the blanket and gently sniffed.

Finally, Jiang Jifan hung up the phone, citing a bad mood.

The commotion she had just experienced had left her physically and mentally exhausted, and she fell asleep without realizing it. Later, in a half-awake state, she heard someone knocking on the door. At first, she thought it was a dream and ignored it.

She was startled awake when the knocking stopped briefly and then resumed.

It seems she's home alone, otherwise the door would have been open long ago.

Jiang Jifan struggled to get out of bed, exhausted. When he reached the door, he was surprised to find a pink note slipped under the door.

She had a guess in her mind, so she squatted down, picked up the note, and unfolded it.

"Auntie, are you crying in your room? I really want to come in and comfort you, but Mom said you need some peace and quiet, so I don't dare to disturb you. Auntie, I know Daddy is a bad guy, so I apologize to you on his behalf. I'm sorry, Auntie! Although Daddy is a big bad guy and has done many things that made you angry, I'm not. Mom and I will always remember how good you are to me. When I grow up, I'll earn lots and lots of money for you to spend, so please don't be sad, and please don't hate Mom and me, okay? π_π"

The handwriting on the note was very childish, and many words were marked with clumsy pinyin. Even so, it still warmed Jiang Jifan's heart.

This girl, we didn't spoil her for nothing.

She carefully put the note away and slowly went out to open the door.

"Click".

“Ji Fan…”

The man who had been waiting at the door for a long time looked up when he heard the sound. When he saw her swollen cheek, his surprised smile froze on his face.

Jiang Jifan was startled when the man who had just been on the phone with him suddenly appeared in front of him, and instinctively closed the door.

Tantai Qing released the suitcase in her hand, gripped the doorknob tightly with one hand, and then squeezed through the crack in the door.

"Who hit you?" He cupped her slightly swollen cheek, his expression cold, and asked in a deep voice.

The moment she saw him, the grievances in her heart reached their peak, and two lines of clear tears silently fell when she looked up at him.

Tantai Qing was both angry and hurt. She was angry that someone dared to lay a hand on her precious treasure, which she cherished so much, and she was hurt that despite this, she still refused to tell her the truth.

"Is he your brother?" he asked immediately.

Jiang Jifan didn't speak, but pressed her forehead against his chest.

Seeing that she didn't deny it, he knew what was going on. Even though he was usually well-mannered, he couldn't help but curse under his breath.

Although she had known her brother was absurd for a long time, she never expected him to be this outrageous.

Tantai Qing pursed his lips, his gaze chilling. He pulled her into his arms, stroked the back of her long hair, and gently coaxed her in her ear, "Jifan, don't be afraid, I'm here. No one can bully you."

Jiang Jifan's tears flowed uncontrollably, each drop soaking his clothes.

The empty space was filled with the woman's intermittent sobs.

Tantai Qing gently patted her back, about to say something, when a voice suddenly came from behind:

"Ji Fan?"

Upon hearing this, Jiang Jifan quickly wiped away her tears, lifted her head from his embrace, looked at Yao Man and Yu Diandian behind him who were staring at her with surprise, and awkwardly called out, "Mom..."
