Yu Yan knew that he was determined to do this. Although he looked kind and gentle, he would never change his mind once he made up his mind. He was very stubborn. When he first came to see her, she had tried to persuade him more than once, but each time he didn't try to fool her. Instead, he firmly told her that he had to come and would not leave unless she was impatient and drove him away.
But how could she chase him away? She was used to being gentle, and it seemed that she had only lost her temper with that one person. Now, she just wanted to live peacefully and didn't want to make any more trouble. Later, she just let him go, and maybe she would let him go on this matter as well.
Yu Yan sighed, looked at Mu Sen, and asked, "Why do you come to see me so often and buy so many things for me?"
Mu Sen paused for a moment while picking up the food because of her words. Then he slowly put the food in his bowl and kept fiddling with it, as if thinking about how he should tell her.
After a moment's silence, he smiled and said, "Didn't I tell you a long time ago that we knew each other before? We're friends after all. You're all alone here. Although the people here are all very nice, it's in the suburbs and in the countryside after all. There's no guarantee that there won't be people with bad intentions. As a police officer, it's my duty to protect the safety of residents. What's more, you're my friend, so this is just a matter of convenience. Besides, I work and eat alone, which makes me feel a little lonely. You happen to be alone too, so I'll just treat it as a companion for a meal. The obvious change of subject at the end was to prevent Yu Yan from bringing up the issue again.
Yu Yan sighed. It was like this again. Every time she brought up this topic, he would always end it hastily, leaving her no way of bringing it up again. She wanted to have a proper talk with him, but he wouldn't give her the chance. She didn't know how long he'd been thinking about this. He'd transferred his job here. Did he even realize what he was doing? He was ruining his future.
She knew how much he loved the police uniform. She didn't believe that a person who had gone through so much hardship to work in the police station and realize his dream would give up his years of hard work for the so-called freedom.
This statement could only fool a three-year-old child, and they might believe it, but she firmly refused to believe it.
Mu Sen breathed a sigh of relief when he saw that Yu Yan didn't ask any further questions, then smiled complacently.
Although this was a bit unethical, it was the only way he could get her to stop bringing up the subject. He knew she didn't want him to come over, nor did he want others to disturb her life. He had tried his best to restrain himself. This time, he wasn't busy at work, and with Bai You gone, he had no one to talk to.
I was free anyway, so I just happened to bring some things over for her.
After dinner, Mu Sen took the things he bought for Yu Yan from the trunk and brought them in for her. He said, "I asked the waiter to buy these things. You should be able to use them. He took a long breath and said to Yu Yan before blushing: "Well, it's getting late. You should go to bed early. I'm going to Uncle Wang first. I'll come and tell you when I leave tomorrow morning."
After Mu Sen finished speaking, he didn't even dare to look at Yu Yan. He nodded, said a simple goodbye, and left quickly.
Yu Yan looked at his hurried and somewhat embarrassed figure, and suddenly felt that he was a little cute. In fact, she knew what he was thinking.
