Chapter 134 Changes

"You've come!"

Upon hearing this voice, Nan Xian immediately got goosebumps all over her body. She quickly took a few steps back and stared at the silly woman in astonishment.

The silly woman chuckled twice, her expression resembling that of some cunning rodent. She took a big step forward after Nan Xian, her ten fingers spread out like claws, reaching straight for Nan Xian's chest.

"Come quickly! Come quickly!" she growled hoarsely, her smile twisted and manic.

Nan Xian was truly terrified this time. A terrible premonition suddenly rose in her heart. She slapped away the silly woman's hand that was about to touch her and shouted angrily, "What are you doing!"

The words struck like a thunderbolt from the sky, hitting the foolish woman hard in the heart.

She froze abruptly, then began to tremble violently, her teeth chattering together.

Just as Nan Xian was about to run away, she saw her collapse to the ground, stretch out her limbs, twitch stiffly for a while, open her mouth to the sky, looking extremely painful. Then, she suddenly stopped moving.

She stopped in her tracks, stunned—could it be... an epileptic seizure?

Nan Xian hesitated for a few seconds, a moment of unease flashing through her heart, before finally gritting her teeth and rushing back to carefully look at her face.

Sure enough, judging from the old woman's expression, her guess was very likely true.

She had some first aid knowledge and knew what to do when encountering a patient having an epileptic seizure. Without hesitation, she held the woman's face, turned her head to one side, and then unbuttoned her collar.

Just then, the simple-minded woman suddenly opened her eyes, and her right hand swiftly grabbed Nan Xian's wrist with great force.

Nan Xian's face changed drastically from the pain, but before she could break free, the idiot woman withdrew her hand. She propped herself up and sat up from the ground, covering her mouth and coughing.

Taking the opportunity, Nan Xian stood up, quickly distanced herself from her, and cautiously sized her up with her arms crossed.

The silly woman coughed a few times, her already hunched back hunched over, almost bent into a shrimp shape, trembling with each cough.

Nan Xian frowned. "Do you—need me to call a doctor for you?"

The simple-minded woman hurriedly waved her hand, looked up, and gazed at her with pleading eyes.

Nan Xian froze—her eyes were completely different from when she first met her...

It's like he suddenly became a different person.

A thought stirred within her, and she suddenly had a bold conjecture.

To verify this conjecture, she stepped forward, squatted down next to the mentally challenged woman, and gently patted her back.

The old woman's coughing gradually subsided, and she released her hand from her mouth—a few drops of dark red blood lay starkly in her palm, a horrifying sight.

Nan Xian's gaze fell upon those few drops of dark red blood, and she immediately gasped: "You're coughing up blood! No, I have to go call a doctor!"

The simple-minded woman grabbed her, shook her head, and said slowly and deliberately, "I'm fine, you don't need to go."

Nan Xian: "Why? You're in this state, how can you not see a doctor?"

The silly woman laughed again, but it was no longer the eerie and cunning grin of before; instead, it was a shy laugh tinged with slight unease.

She explained with difficulty to Nan Xian, "I am not the same as them. I am not afraid! I am not afraid!" She pointed in the direction of the village and emphasized the last half of the sentence.

Nan Xian was confused: "Different? What do you mean?"

The simple-minded woman stood up, patted the mud and grass clippings off her tattered cotton-padded jacket, tidied her disheveled sideburns, glanced shyly at Nan Xian, and walked towards the small tile-roofed house.

"Come with me, I'll show you."

Nan Xian glanced back at the deserted country road behind her, pursed her lips, and followed.
