"See? See? Just when things were looking up, you're courting death again. You humans are such a worry!"
The spider nurse excitedly waved her eight legs, glaring resentfully at Nan Xian and He Mingxiao.
The two of them behaved like elementary school students caught doing something wrong by the headmaster, obediently accepting the scolding without daring to raise their heads.
He Mingxiao glanced at Nan Xian out of the corner of his eye, but Nan Xian noticed and rolled her eyes at him.
Let's go back ten minutes—
He Mingxiao suddenly woke up. The first thing he saw when he saw Nan Xian was as if he were still in that illusory dream. He couldn't come back to his senses for a moment. His body subconsciously followed his heart and pulled her into his arms.
He was unaware that he had once been on the verge of death, and even though he was out of danger, he was still under close observation.
His actions affected more than ten lines on his body, including the IV lines in his left and right hands.
As for Nan Xian, she had stayed up all night to keep watch over him and was already exhausted. She had finally managed to doze off for a while and was just drifting into a sweet dream when she was suddenly awakened by this hug. Caught off guard, she reflexively stood up and pushed He Mingxiao away.
He Mingxiao's weak body couldn't withstand her push, and he naturally fell off the hospital bed to the ground, and so—
Lines connected, bottles collided, crashing and clattering...
There was also the electrocardiogram monitor accompanied by a continuous "beep beep beep" alarm sound.
In less than half a minute, the entire VIP ward went from neat and clean to messy and chaotic, as if a hurricane had passed through.
One of them stood there, looking shocked and bewildered, while the other lay on the ground with the IV needle in his hand broken, blood gushing from the wound.
They just stared at each other in bewilderment.
The commotion was so great that the nurse rushed over. When she saw the scene, she was so angry that she immediately revealed her true colors and, no longer caring about status, gave the two of them a good scolding.
Nan Xian looked up at the spider nurse's eight menacing legs behind her and was about to reach out to help her when the spider nurse glared at her and stopped her.
She said irritably, "I don't need you. You're still injured yourself. Get some rest!"
Nan Xian glanced at the web of her left hand, which was wrapped in gauze, touched her nose, and gave an embarrassed smile.
After saying that, the spider nurse used one leg to lift the fallen IV stand, another leg to pick up the scattered wires, and the third leg to straighten the blanket on the hospital bed. In a flash, she restored the messy ward to its previous state and even mopped the floor with her "foot".
Nan Xian watched her leave, her figure disappearing behind the door, before she slowly let out a sigh of relief.
Although she had no prejudice against monsters, she couldn't help but feel a chill when the spider nurse's eight legs exploded at the same time...
He Mingxiao shifted his position and cautiously moved closer to her. "Uh, Nan Xian, is your hand alright?"
Upon hearing this, Nan Xian rolled her eyes at him once again.
The injury on her hand was caused by a shard of the IV drip bottle that shattered when He Mingxiao fell and hit the ground.
"What do you think?" she scoffed.
He Mingxiao was filled with remorse and said in a low voice, "I'm so sorry, I was so reckless. I promise I won't do it again..."
"Do you really expect a next time?" Nan Xian thought to herself, but then she remembered that he was lying on this bed because of her. So she couldn't stay angry. She sighed and said, "Forget it, you should rest. Assistant Jiang should have finished digesting. I'll ask him to come and take care of you."
He Mingxiao asked, puzzled, "Digest what?"
Nan Xian stood up, picked up her bag, and smiled.
"Of course it's digestion—there are nurses with eight legs in this world, and those kinds of things."
