Seeing Nan Xian's subtle expression, which seemed both surprised and like she was trying to suppress a laugh, the little blue bird mistakenly thought she was making fun of it and immediately became unhappy.
With a push of its little paws, it flapped its wings and took flight, hovering in front of Nan Xian. With lightning speed, it pecked her between the eyebrows.
Nan Xian was caught off guard and couldn't dodge in time, so she was actually ambushed.
A sharp pain shot through her brow, and she instinctively gasped, raising her hand to touch the spot, her fingertips immediately stained with drops of blood.
"Why do you peck people like that, you little bird..." Her tone shifted, and she asked in surprise, "Huh?"
The little blue bird that had been attacking her so fiercely was now flying erratically in the air like it was drunk, its eyes glazed over as if it were about to fall asleep at any moment, its little beak opening and closing, making "chirp chirp chirp" sounds.
"Ouch, watch out!"
She caught it just as it was about to fall to the ground with lightning speed. The little bluebird closed its eyes, opened its beak and yawned, rubbed its cheek against her palm, tilted its head, and fell asleep.
Nan Xian:...? ? ?
“Hey,” she shook it, “how did you suddenly fall asleep? You still haven’t told me where this place is!”
Her answer was a soft snore.
Nan Xian: ...Birds snore? That's absurd!
She sighed and put her hand on her forehead, then put it in her pocket and started walking towards the top of the mountain.
As far as the eye could see, there was only white snow, and the stone walls were covered with a solid layer of ice, which occasionally reflected her image like a mirror.
Nan Xian looked back and was surprised to find that the footprints she had left in the snow along the way were gone, even though it wasn't snowing.
Her curiosity was piqued, so she turned around and walked backwards, watching as the snow, less than three seconds after she left her footprints, became fluffy again, completely "swallowing" them.
"Interesting..." Her eyes darted around, and as she stepped out of the footprints, she silently chanted in her mind, "Don't disappear."
But this time, the dream didn't listen to her, and the footprints disappeared quickly again.
Nan Xian was surprised and bent down to take a closer look, but suddenly felt a strong wind coming from behind her, with a sharp and powerful force, which made her heart tremble and she reflexively rolled to the side.
She fell to the ground in the snow, and the next moment, it was as if all her senses had returned. She smelled the cold air of the snow and her hands, which were supporting her in the snow, instinctively curled up because of the cold.
She shivered from the cold, but didn't care, her gaze fixed on the arrow stuck in the snow.
Half of the arrow was embedded in the snow and was still trembling slightly, which showed how much force the archer used.
If she had reacted even half a second slower, that arrow would probably have pierced right through her body...
Thinking of this, Nan Xian suddenly came to her senses. She scrambled to a large rock, huddled up, and cautiously peeked out with half her head towards the direction from which the arrow had come.
A tall, slender figure drifted down from the sky and appeared in front of her in the blink of an eye.
The newcomer was dressed in a snow-white robe, ethereal as a fairy, and concealed his face with a white wolf mask, revealing only a pair of pure, crystal-like eyes.
He stood in mid-air, his right leg slightly bent, his left leg straight out, the toes of his shoes touching the void, spreading out a circle of silver ripples.
His hair was also the color of snow, flying wildly behind him, revealing the ice crystal earrings hanging from his earlobes. In his right hand, he held a silver longbow, the sharp tip of the arrow pointing directly at Nanxian's brow.
