At the very center of the magnificent palace at Bai Duya stands a glazed pagoda nearly a hundred meters high.
The glazed pagoda has no doors or windows, and no sign of life, like a dead pagoda that has been silent for years.
suddenly--
A gust of wind arose, lightning flashed, and the tranquil night sky was suddenly cleaved in two by a bolt of purple lightning, the sound deafening.
The crow guarding the night outside the glass tower was startled awake. It suddenly opened its crimson eyes, and black mist flashed from its wings. When the mist dissipated, it landed and transformed into a man in black with long hair reaching his waist, painted eyes and eyebrows, and a handsome appearance.
He raised his hand, and a huge vortex appeared on the glass pagoda, revealing what was inside—
Inside the tower were thousands of bright lamps, all shining brightly at this moment. The candlelight flickered and swayed as if it were alive, even without wind.
His gaze swept quickly across the scene, and upon seeing it, his eyes first widened in shock, then flashed with delight. He turned and ran towards the bedchamber.
As soon as I stepped onto the covered bridge, I saw a woman in red walking briskly towards me.
She was bare-faced, her hair slightly disheveled, and her clothes half-open, clearly having hurriedly gotten out of bed after hearing the thunder, without bothering to tidy herself up.
"Feng An, what happened at the ancestral hall?" The woman asked anxiously as soon as she saw him, but accidentally tripped over her belt.
"Fox Queen, be careful!" Feng An rushed forward and barely managed to catch her arm. "It's the Thousand-Search Lamp! The Thousand-Search Lamp has been rekindled!"
Upon hearing this, the Fox Queen's anxious expression vanished instantly. She stared wide-eyed in disbelief, gripping the man's arm tightly, her nails digging unconsciously into his flesh.
"What did you say... Really? The Thousand-Love Lantern really lit up?"
Feng An was equally excited, nodding vigorously, "That's right, just now, I saw it with my own eyes!"
The fox lord slowly straightened up. She stood there stunned for a moment, as if just coming to her senses, then looked at him and said, "Quick, take me to see!"
Feng An agreed and picked her up in his arms.
Another cloud of black mist appeared, and in the blink of an eye, the two of them appeared in front of the Glazed Pagoda.
The fox spirit jumped down from his arms, lifted her skirt, and rushed into the whirlpool in a few quick steps.
The moment the light from those thousand lamps illuminated her eyes, she stopped in her tracks, and tears involuntarily streamed down her beautiful face.
She stared at them in a daze, watching them burn brightly and wildly, swaying and dancing joyfully, the light of a thousand candles casting a divine glow on the red fox statue on the offering table.
She clasped her hands together devoutly in front of her chest, her lips slowly curving upwards, tears falling to the ground, her lips parting slightly as if in prayer.
Finally, she lost all her strength and collapsed onto the prayer mat in front of the offering table, transforming into a thin, withered, and dull-furred variegated fox.
She covered her eyes with her paws, and a whimper, both wildly joyful and sorrowful, escaped her throat.
"...You've awakened! You've finally awakened... The demon race... The demon race is saved..."
Feng An stood outside the whirlpool, gazing at her gently. When he saw her curled up on the futon, crying and sobbing, he felt a sudden tightness in his chest and his heart ached beyond measure.
He instinctively wanted to cross the barrier to embrace her, but as soon as he lifted his foot, an invisible barrier blocked his way, gently refusing his entry.
Feng An was slightly taken aback. He lowered his eyes, concealing the fleeting loneliness in them.
