Nan Xian held a bright red and golden egg, sitting on the steps in front of the small wooden house, lost in thought.
She had just examined it carefully. Holding it up to the sunlight, she could see something inside the egg. The outline was blurry, but she could confirm that it was a living thing.
She had previously speculated that the peony jade might be hidden inside the egg, but now it seems that the chances are very low.
Nan Xian held the egg with a sorrowful expression and sighed softly.
Since obtaining the egg, she has found that she has lost the ability to do whatever she wants. The plants that had been fawning over her now seem to have become normal plants, and no matter how much she fiddles with them, they do not react at all.
Most importantly, she discovered that she couldn't get out at all!
It's not that we can't get out of this forest, but rather the entire dream.
Nan Xian discovered that she was trapped in a dream.
She tried many methods: pinching her thigh, slapping herself, jumping from a height... but none of them worked, and she remained in the dream.
He also had an egg of unknown origin in his hand.
Could it be that my presence here is related to this egg?
Are we going to wait for it to hatch?
Nan Xian stared at it thoughtfully for a moment, then decisively smashed it against a stone on the ground.
Unexpectedly, yet predictably, the stone cracked open, but the egg remained unharmed.
She twitched her lips. "What exactly are you?"
The egg couldn't speak; its answer was a gust of wind that swept through the woods.
She sighed helplessly and looked up at the sky—it was already evening, and the sky was ablaze with sunset colors, with patches of fiery clouds weaving the sky into a beautiful tapestry.
"The scenery here is beautiful, but it's just a dream. There are people waiting for me in reality, and I can't stay here forever..."
She muttered to herself unconsciously, then suddenly froze.
"Wait, in reality, who is waiting for me? Mom and Dad, brother..." Her gaze was blank. "No, they're not the most anxious. Then who is it? Who needs me more right now?"
Her heart suddenly became incredibly anxious, pounding like a rabbit in her chest.
She stood up and paced anxiously in front of the house, muttering the same sentence over and over again, her forehead beaded with sweat.
There was a figure in her mind, but for some reason, the more she tried to see clearly, the more blurred the figure became.
Nan Xian's temples throbbed with pain, so much so that she couldn't help but crouch down, clutching her head.
"Who is it? Who is it...?"
As she was trying to recall, a sudden, scalding heat came from her arms, making her jump. She quickly took the egg out.
It emitted a dazzling red light, landed on the ground, and rolled around a few times.
A very slight "click".
Nan Xian keenly noticed it, and she reflexively held her breath and moved closer to it.
The egg moved slightly, and then there was another "crack".
It's about to hatch!
She was overjoyed and dared not even breathe, covering her mouth and staring intently.
With several clicks, the egg wobbled more and more. Just as Nan Xian was about to reach out and help it open the shell, a fluffy head popped out from the tip of the egg.
However, its head, no bigger than a thumb, was pitifully small, yet it had a pair of oversized ears, fiery red in color, with a little bit of black at the tips, fluffy and soft.
Nan Xian was stunned.
"Fox?"
