Chapter 196 Call Me Father

The sudden change in scenery made Nan Xian dizzy for a moment. She shook her head and glanced out of the corner of her eye, only to see Ding He lying stiffly on the carpet next to her, with a few strands of red hair still clutched in her tightly clenched hands.

She immediately came to her senses and carefully checked her breathing.

Ding He's breathing was very steady, as if she were asleep, and her complexion was not as pale and weak as it had been when Yu Lin was possessed.

"Thank goodness..." Nan Xian breathed a sigh of relief. "Ding He, Ding He, wake up!"

Ding He mumbled a confused "Hey," opened her eyes, and found herself lying on the ground. She was bewildered. "How did I...?"

Nan Xian helped her up. "I'll explain this to you later. Tell me, is there anything that's bothering you?"

She scratched the back of her head and said, "No, I feel like I had a really good sleep, it felt really comfortable... Sis, what happened? How did I end up lying on the floor?"

After confirming that she was really not feeling unwell, Nanxian told her the whole story.

Upon learning that she had been possessed by a demon, Ding He felt a chill run down her spine. She hugged her arms and shuddered in fear. "Then... has it left now? Will it possess me again?"

Speaking of this, Nan Xian was also a little confused.

She had witnessed Yu Lin's condition when he was possessed; his face was obviously pale. Even though the possessing demon was expelled, he still needed to rest and recuperate for a period of time to fully recover his strength.

Ding He doesn't look weak at all now; on the contrary, she looks more energetic. Nan Xian noticed that the dark circles under her eyes from staying up all night have faded quite a bit.

She couldn't figure out the answer herself, and for such a professional question, she naturally had to consult a professional.

Upon receiving the call, Situ Ting immediately dropped what she was doing and rushed over.

After understanding the specific situation, she poured her spiritual power into Ding He's body.

After scanning the area with her spiritual energy, she found nothing unusual, and Situ Ting also couldn't detect any trace of demonic energy on her.

But Nanxian had witnessed Ding He being possessed with her own eyes, and her eyes didn't lie. So, at her insistence, Situ Ting took Ding He for a systematic examination.

As soon as the two left, a fluffy little head poked out from Nan Xian's collar, curiously looking around.

"Mother, is this your home?"

"Ah!" Nan Xian was startled and stared at it in astonishment. "How could you get out of the dream?"

The little fox blinked and chuckled, "I am my mother's child. Wherever my mother goes, I will go!"

"Can other humans see you too?"

The little fox jumped off her and stood on the table, looking around. "Of course! Mother, your house is so big—much bigger than the old one!"

"This is a hospital, not my home—someone's here, you'd better come inside!"

Nan Xian quickly scooped it back into her pocket and carefully hid it before turning towards the ward door.

"Please come in."

He Mingxiao pushed the door open and came in. His eyes were full of worry. He looked Nan Xian up and down before asking, "I heard that your assistant was taken away by Situ Ting. Did something happen? Do you need my help?"

"No need, Mr. He, please take good care of yourself." Nan Xian smiled politely, while pressing one hand firmly against her pocket.

When Ding He and Situ Ting were there, the little fox was well-behaved, but now for some reason it keeps peeking out, making Nan Xian extremely nervous, afraid that it would give itself away in front of He Mingxiao.

He Mingxiao's gaze shifted downwards, noticing her unusual expression. His brow furrowed, and he took a few steps forward. "Why are you clutching your stomach? Is your stomach upset?"

He moved forward, and Nan Xian stepped back.

"No, no, I'm fine! Don't come any closer!"

He Mingxiao was slightly taken aback, but still frowned and stared at her probingly.

Nan Xian felt a little uneasy under his gaze, and gave a dry laugh: "Hehe, I'm really fine, you should go back to your own ward."

Since things had already come to this point, staying any longer would indeed be superfluous, so He Mingxiao could only say, "Okay, if you feel unwell in any way, be sure to tell the nurse. I'll be going now..."

Before she could finish speaking, a shrill voice suddenly came from Nan Xian's pocket—

"Father! Father, don't go!"

The two people in the ward were both stunned.
