Chapter 243 Heavenly Punishment

"This is a wine I brewed myself nine years ago, using snow that never melts on the summit of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain and the first peach blossoms to bloom in early spring. The longer it's aged, the more fragrant it becomes, with ten years being the best time to brew it. Although it's not ready yet, on such a wonderful day, it would be less enjoyable without this wine to add to the celebration."

The woman was very excited about the good news that she had received ahead of schedule, and she introduced it to him in a soft voice.

She turned to look at him, and the worry on Feng An's face, which he hadn't had time to hide, caught her eye.

The woman's smile faded slightly, and the alluring curve of her lips was somewhat suppressed.

"Feng An, what are you thinking about?"

Her deep eyes seemed to possess a magical power, causing his heart to skip a beat. His lips moved slightly, as if he wanted to say something.

Before he could speak, the woman turned her head away, clearly indicating that she was unwilling to listen.

She knew exactly what he wanted to say, but at that moment, she didn't want to hear it.

He gazed at her, but she avoided his eyes. The large courtyard seemed to freeze in place because of this sudden change in atmosphere.

The wind stopped, the water ceased to flow, and the two frail little figures froze in place as if they had been frozen in place.

“Three years ago, you set up the trap of the Immortal Village, using dozens of lives to lure the weasel spirit into the trap, and extracting the essence of nearly a thousand people to nurture its evil resentment.” Feng An’s expression was sorrowful, his voice heavy and hoarse, as if it had been sanded down. “You did all this just to awaken Lord Red Fox’s past life memories… Forgive my intrusion, but I truly cannot understand why, if Lord Red Fox was destined to awaken, you would take such a great risk to do all this?”

The woman stared at the void in silence for a moment, then, as if sensing something, slowly raised her head.

The sky above the courtyard twisted like a crumpled canvas; the white clouds dispersed, and the azure sky was torn apart by the giant's hands, revealing the cruel reality hidden beneath the beautiful illusion—

The sky darkened, and a terrible darkness, like a greedy beast, devoured all the light. A huge black cloud hovered above the courtyard, almost covering the entire field of vision. Lightning flashed continuously within the black cloud, carrying an ominous aura, and a muffled rumble like a drum echoed throughout the heavens and earth.

A sudden gust of wind swept through the courtyard, ruffling the woman's hair. Feng An panicked at the sight and rushed forward to shield her in his arms. The two little figures beside them were not so lucky. They swayed in the wind, their joints creaking and groaning. Soon they were blown away completely, reduced to a few tattered pieces of paper, lying pitifully on the damp stone bricks.

The strong winds gradually subsided, and everything returned to quiet.

The woman shifted in his arms, and Feng An released her. She stepped back, her gaze falling on the empty table, and said wistfully, "...Unfortunately, my wine is gone too."

Feng An pursed his lips and remained silent.

She suddenly raised her face and smiled, "You saw that, didn't you? That was the punishment that Heaven had prepared for me. Why didn't it come down? Because this White Cliff was once the residence of Lady Red Fox. She was the darling of Heaven and Earth, and Heaven loved her dearly and couldn't bear to destroy this place. So as soon as I stepped out of White Cliff, the heavenly lightning would immediately come down, eighty-one times in total, not one less."

Feng An's face suddenly turned pale. He closed his eyes tightly, his hands clenched into fists at his sides, trembling.

"But I don't regret it!" The woman stood up, and as she spoke these words, her plain dress gradually changed color, becoming stained with a blood-red hue.
