Chapter 256 The Talisman "Spontaneous Combustion"

Wei Zeling's expression stiffened slightly, and a bad premonition suddenly rose in her heart. However, before she could react, she felt a sharp burning pain in her palm, as if she had squeezed a red-hot iron. She screamed "Ah!" in pain and hurriedly pulled her hand out of her pocket.

A wisp of smoke drifted out, carrying with it several unburnt fragments of talisman paper, their edges tinged with a dark brown and still reddish-brown from the flames. These fragments stuck to Wei Zeling's finger, and she frantically shook them off, retreating repeatedly.

The cameraman who was filming Wei Zeling was closest to her. Because he was carrying a camera, he wasn't very agile and didn't have time to dodge. She stepped on his foot and instinctively stepped back. The two tripped over each other and fell together in a sorry state amidst cries of surprise.

As people fell, tables collapsed, and machinery was also knocked to the ground, creating chaos in an instant. Everyone was stunned by the sudden turn of events and stared at the two men in bewilderment.

Wei Zeling snapped out of her shock and glanced at her still-painful hand with lingering fear. Suddenly remembering something, she abruptly looked up at Nan Xian, her eyes wide open as if about to spit fire.

The talisman the master gave me is unbreakable; I've used it so many times without a single mistake. How could it spontaneously combust for no reason? It must be that bitch Nan Xian's doing!

However, to her surprise, Nan Xian's face showed complete astonishment and confusion, without any of the calm demeanor she had expected.

Wei Zeling's heart tightened: If it wasn't her, then who was it?

She propped herself up, her nerves taut, and quickly scanned everyone in the room before her gaze abruptly fixed on Diao Yu.

Diao Yu stood in the corner behind Nan Xian, leaning against the wall with her arms crossed in a relaxed posture. Half of her face was shrouded in shadow, and the one eye that was exposed was as deep as a pool, now staring at her with a hint of gloomy smile.

Like a hunter lurking in the shadows, he was determined to have his prey, but instead of rushing to devour her, he watched her make her final struggle with a cold eye, as if playing an interesting game.

The moment their eyes met, Wei Zeling felt her blood run cold, a bone-chilling cold shooting from her toes to the top of her head. Every cell in her body trembled and screamed with fear. She even stopped breathing, frozen in place like a statue, too afraid to move.

Did he find out his secret?

But I didn't give anything away, so how did he know?

No, that's not right. Yu Lin is just an ordinary person; he couldn't possibly be...

A possibility flashed through her mind, and Wei Zeling's pupils constricted as she murmured incredulously, "Impossible...impossible..."

Diao Yu moved. He slowly straightened up, his thin lips opening and closing, silently uttering a few words:

"Stop your little tricks."

"Boom—" Wei Zeling's mind exploded, and her last glimmer of hope collapsed, leaving only a few bright and glaring words—her secret has been discovered.

In an instant, she seemed to regain all her strength, pushed away the assistant who came to help her, and ran out the door, disappearing in a flash.

Her cameraman reacted a beat late and quickly chased after them.

Diao Yu said slowly, "Could it be that she saw she lost the bet and didn't dare to admit it, so she ran away in a fit of anger?"

As he said, the screen showed the last second of the recording. After a brief moment of hesitation, the staff member did not leave a sticker on the door of the small room and then left quickly.

Upon hearing this, the others exchanged glances, each lost in their own thoughts. However, having witnessed Wei Zeling's arrogant and difficult behavior earlier, they all subconsciously confirmed Diao Yu's conjecture.

Nan Xian turned her gaze away from the screen, glanced at Diao Yu, and narrowed her eyes thoughtfully.
