Chapter 314 shuhaige.net

Nan Xian felt a sudden lightness throughout her body, as if she were on a roller coaster plummeting from the highest point. The sudden weightlessness made her dizzy for a moment.

When she opened her eyes again, her five senses returned instantly. Before her was a narrow alley. The light bulbs of the streetlights overhead seemed to be old and dilapidated, or as if they were covered with a layer of greasy grime, making the light that was projected down have a suffocating and nauseating feel.

A strange, foul odor wafted to her nose, like a drunkard vomiting in a sewer, with a faint hint of blood... Remembering Diao Yu's warnings, Nan Xian felt a chill run down her spine. She didn't dare to examine the dark marks on the uneven pavement, nor did she glance at the huddled human figures in the shadows. Covering her mouth and nose, she quickly walked towards the light.

As she rounded the corner, a bright and open space opened up before her, illuminating her eyes and causing her to instinctively stop in her tracks.

It was as if she had been transported to another world in an instant. Unlike the alley behind her that could perfectly cosplay a murder scene in a horror movie, the bustling street in front of her left even someone like her, who had once filmed commercials on Fifth Avenue in Manhattan, speechless.

The road was wide and crowded with people. Shops of all sizes lined both sides of the street, and the dazzling neon lights were reflected on the wet ground. The noisy and lively atmosphere exploded like fireworks at a celebration, spreading to every corner and instantly pulling Nan Xian into a world of bright lights and revelry.

She moved her feet, her gaze lingering uncontrollably on the dazzling signs. A sweet, cloying fragrance wafted through the street, and she unconsciously sniffed it, suddenly feeling a kind of tipsy, intoxicating sensation. Her heart raced, and the corners of her mouth slowly turned up.

Suddenly, she was bumped hard from behind, staggered a few steps, and barely managed to keep her balance so as not to fall.

She frowned, turned around, and her heart leaped into her throat when she saw who had bumped into her.

Two half-human demon youths were scrutinizing her with malicious eyes; their eyes were sharp, vertical pupils, and rough, dark scales were visible near their ears on either side of their faces.

She recognized them at a glance—they were snake scales!

Because of those bizarre dreams, Nan Xian had developed a strong aversion to snakes. Upon seeing this, she subconsciously took a half step back and adopted a defensive posture.

The two snake-like youths exchanged a glance. The taller one's vertical pupils flashed with interest as his gaze lingered on her without restraint. "Human girl? You smell so good. I like it very much."

As he spoke, he reached out to Nan Xian, trying to grab her wrist, his tone leaving no room for refusal: "Let's be friends."

Nan Xian was startled and dodged his hand by turning to the side. At the same time, she quickly grasped a magical artifact in her palm and warned in a low voice, "Stay away from me, or don't blame me for being impolite."

Upon hearing this, the tall snake-clan youth's smile twisted eerily for a moment, as if mocking the arrogance of the human with almost zero spiritual power before him.

He bared his teeth, his sharp, white fangs flashing across his lips, then took a deep breath, suppressing the bestial urge to bite through her neck and suck the sweet blood that was constantly emitting an alluring fragrance.

If the prey is startled, the taste won't be perfect.

"Not willing?" He pulled a black card with gold trim from his pocket, waved it in front of her, and smiled with an air of triumph. "And now?"

Nan Xian glanced quickly at Naka, then continued to watch him warily without responding.

Seeing her reaction, the shorter snake-clan boy finally couldn't hold back anymore. He unabashedly cast a contemptuous glance at Nan Xian, as if looking at an ant.

"Look at your shabby appearance, you probably haven't even heard of it, have you? This is the most prestigious symbol of status in the Dark Zone—the Supreme Black Card! And the man in front of you is none other than Young Master Qi, the son of the eleventh leader of the Dark Zone!"

Nan Xian:......

Beneath the cloak, the corners of her mouth twitched uncontrollably.

A black card, and a supreme one at that? And Young Master Qi???

What kind of cringe-worthy lines are these? Do demons still use the tactic of flaunting their wealth by flashing a black card at the drop of a hat?! Even human melodramas don't go this far anymore!

Looking at the two snake demons in front of her, Nan Xian suddenly felt that their faces were not so repulsive anymore, as if the words "idiot" were written brightly above their heads.

Her reaction, as they saw it, automatically became "being stunned after learning the truth," and the short snake-clan boy even showed a smug smile, as if he were riding on someone else's coattails.

"Hehe, others beg and plead to get close to Young Master Qi but still don't have a chance. You being noticed by Young Master Qi is a blessing you've accumulated over several lifetimes. Don't be so ungrateful!"

The tall young man, known as Young Master Qi, raised his chin upon hearing this, his lips curling into a haughty expression as if he were waiting for Nan Xian to throw herself into his arms.

Nan Xian glanced behind them and saw several burly, strong men a few meters away, watching her warily. One of them met her gaze and immediately and unabashedly revealed the weapon at his waist, clearly threatening her.

She frowned almost imperceptibly, thinking to herself how unlucky she was; she'd only just entered the Dark Zone and already encountered such trouble. However—

Her gaze returned to the two snake-clan youths in front of her, a dark glint flashing in her eyes.

These two don't seem particularly clever. It's better to use them cautiously; perhaps we can find Ruizhu's whereabouts through them. And with the magic weapon given to me by Diao Yu, I don't need to worry about them actually harming me. At worst, we'll fight to the death...
