There is a theory in criminal psychology that many criminals return to the scene of a crime after committing it, pretending to be bystanders.
Their psychology isn't hard to guess; there are several reasons why they did this—
First, check for any omissions or oversights. Double-check whether you left anything at the crime scene that you shouldn't have. If so, find an opportunity to go back and destroy the evidence.
Second, see if the police have found any key clues to determine whether you should escape before being discovered.
Third, appreciating the crime scene is like a painter admiring a painting they're happy with, or a girl showing off a selfie she's taken. For psychopathic criminals, returning to the crime scene and seeing others affected by their actions gives them a tremendous sense of accomplishment.
These three points, while not entirely corresponding to the psychology of the person who released the butterflies, share a similar underlying logic.
To take action in a place like Shixi Building, the plan must be flawless, and the only way to ensure that is to go to the site in person, observe the situation, and make appropriate adjustments to the original plan based on what actually happens.
Linghu Sheng, in particular, valued Ruizhu as his "final trump card" very much. He didn't even inform his direct subordinates of the specific details, and personally presided over the final auction, which shows that he was determined to guard it closely and not allow any mistakes to occur.
Without a doubt, he might even personally guard the birdcage that trapped Ruizhu.
In this situation, the only opportunity to tamper with the birdcage is during the few minutes when Linghu Sheng makes his entrance and acts all cool.
Therefore, the person who released the butterflies must have stayed at the Shixi Building all night, either disguised as a staff member or a guest to blend in.
As is well known, once the auction begins, all the doors of the World Trade Center will be locked and will not be opened until the end. The reasons for this are twofold: first, to announce to the public that the auction has started and no more people will be allowed in; and second, to prevent anyone from maliciously skipping out on their bid and causing a negative impact.
This is also why Huo Shaoying didn't choose to secretly rescue Ruizhu—Shixi Tower wouldn't open its doors, and unless force was used, she couldn't get out. And if force was used, it would be tantamount to putting the conflict between the First Leader and Shixi Tower into the open, which would only suit Linghu Sheng's wishes.
The only other way is to create chaos, and it has to be a huge chaos, to force Shixi Tower to open its doors ahead of time, so that she can take Ruizhu away in the chaos.
Huo Shaoying was aware of this method, but she learned of Ruizhu's kidnapping too late to prepare. If she acted rashly, Linghu Sheng might turn the tables on her, leaving her in the same dilemma as before.
So she chose to outsmart him—deliberately leaking information to Pang Xiao that there was a collectible he was very interested in at tonight's auction, luring him into the game, and then deliberately snatching the collectible he was bidding on in public. Pang Xiao was a simple-minded, muscle-bound fool, and he would definitely be enraged by her actions. And when Ruizhu made her grand entrance as the finale, regardless of whether Linghu Sheng would deliberately reveal her face, as long as Huo Shaoying showed interest in her, Pang Xiao would certainly retaliate in kind.
Just when Linghu Sheng was trying to build connections with the Special Administration Office, Pang Xiao asked for people, and he wouldn't refuse—after all, Linghu Sheng's goal was to smear Huo Shaoying, and as long as he achieved his goal, he didn't care where Ruizhu ended up or who auctioned her off.
Once Pang Xiao wins the bid, a document detailing his embezzlement, bribery, and collusion with Shixi Building will be presented to him.
To avoid being exposed, Pang Xiao had to do as Huo Shaoying said.
Huo Shaoying's plan was flawless, but no one expected that an unknown butterfly releaser would appear and kidnap Ruizhu before any schemes or plots could be carried out.
Nan Xian and Huo Shaoying had already analyzed these things. They both believed that the butterfly releaser would take advantage of the chaos to leave with Ruizhu through the secret passage. After all, apart from the secret passage, the only way to leave Shixi Building was through the main gate.
The lobby is the area with the highest concentration of golden scale butterflies and is the most dangerous. If you accidentally get poisoned by a golden scale butterfly, wouldn't that be a huge loss?
The person who would come up with the idea of releasing butterflies to create chaos would never take such a risk.
They were unaware of the collapse of the secret passage and assumed that the man must have taken Ruizhu away. But after hearing what Qi Maojin said, things took an astonishing turn!
Ruizhu is very likely still in Shixi Building!
