She raised her hand and turned around.
"Kill them all."
"Anyone who opposes the First Leader or me—I will show no mercy."
Upon hearing this, the guard's sculpted face finally showed a hint of emotion. His sharp eyes, like a wolf's, fixed on the group as he slowly drew his sword from his waist.
The screams gradually faded behind them as Nan Xian and Huo Shaoying walked on in silence.
Nan Xian listened to their entire conversation and had already guessed that those people had done extremely bad things to Huo Shaoying.
She doesn't speak, so she doesn't ask; she simply pretends not to know.
Suddenly, Huo Shaoying chuckled softly.
Nan Xian was slightly taken aback and turned to look at her.
She looked straight ahead and said to herself, "When I was sixteen, I went through a rebellious phase. I was disobedient and fell in love with a rich man's son—oh, the one who just begged me."
Even though Nan Xian was already prepared, she still couldn't help but show a surprised expression when she heard these words.
Wow, this is so dramatic!
Huo Shaoying continued, "Grandma Huo realized he wasn't a good person and forbade me from seeing him again. I refused and even resented her for it, repeatedly speaking rudely to her... Later, we had another argument. I wanted to prove to her that I was a capable adult, so I secretly took on an order that Grandma Huo had turned down and went into the border forest alone..."
She paused, seemingly recalling something, and her expression became extremely painful.
Nan Xian's heart tightened, and she whispered, "If you're feeling unwell, don't say anything."
Huo Shaoying quickly raised her hand to wipe away the tears welling up in her eyes and shook her head. "I didn't know that the order was a trap set by my colleagues to harm Grandma Huo. I stupidly walked right into it and was taken hostage by them. They held a knife to my neck and threatened Grandma Huo—I watched with my own eyes as she was beaten down, her hands and legs were cut off, and she became a cripple."
Nan Xian's breath hitched, and her lips pressed tightly together.
“They left, and Grandma Huo was on her deathbed. I was all alone and had no choice but to go to that person. I loved him and trusted him so much. I was sure he would help me... But what did he do?” Huo Shaoying chuckled. “After he learned that Grandma Huo was seriously injured, he tricked me into his room and gave me a glass of water laced with medicine. There were seven people there that day.”
Nan Xian could hardly believe her ears. Her heart trembled violently, and her hands instinctively clenched into fists as anger surged within her chest.
"How dare they!!!" Her voice was hoarse, unable to hide her anger.
Huo Shaoying was slightly taken aback when she saw her like this, then smiled sincerely and turned around to comfort her, saying, "Later, as I became stronger and stronger, they were afraid of my revenge, so they all knelt in front of me, crying and kowtowing, repenting, just like today."
I followed the order in which they humiliated me that day, one by one, until they were bankrupt and fell from grace. Ha, how fragile they were. They couldn't even comprehend a fraction of my suffering back then; some jumped off buildings, others took poison...
"I deliberately left today's victim until last. Watching him live in constant fear, always worried about being killed, was incredibly satisfying! Originally, I envisioned his fate as being abandoned by everyone—his parents shunning him for the sake of the family, his wife cheating on him, and even his child not being his own. But just now, I suddenly realized something more important. I have more important things to do, and a scumbag like him isn't worth wasting even a fraction of my energy on."
Hearing her say that, Nan Xian also let out a slow sigh of relief.
She wanted to say something, but paused and then remained silent.
People like Huo Shaoying have hearts stronger than mountains and more resilient than grass growing in the cracks of cliffs. They don't need your pity or sympathy at all.
Nan Xian simply stepped forward and gave her a gentle hug.
The unfamiliar body temperature startled Huo Shaoying. Her body stiffened for a moment before she came to her senses. Her lips trembled slightly, and a moist red flush spread across the corners of her eyes.
She slowly raised her lips and hugged her back.
But at that very moment—
"What are you doing?!"
An angry voice came from downstairs, startling Nan Xian, who quickly let go of Huo Shaoying.
Then she saw a young woman with a ferocious face, wearing silver armor and a red cloak, rushing towards her.
Nan Xian: Hey, why do I have a bad feeling about this?
