Chapter 61 Nan Nan Enters the Dream

Nan Xian felt something furry rubbing against her cheek, which tickled her and woke her from her drowsiness.

She slowly opened her eyes and found herself lying on a sun-drenched lawn, a lush green expanse that seemed to stretch to the horizon. Beside her stood an ancient tree with a dense canopy that cast dappled shadows on her.

A soft paw gently stepped on Nan Xian's leg. She looked down and met a pair of big, round blue eyes.

When the little black cat saw her looking at it, it immediately meowed excitedly, nuzzled its head, and snuggled into her arms, gently rubbing its wet little nose against hers.

"Nan Nan!" Nan Xian immediately recognized it, smiling as she patted its head. "Nan Nan, you've come to keep me company in my dreams again?"

As if understanding her words, Nan Nan raised its head and obediently let out a "meow," flicking its tail and playfully hooking its tail around her wrist.

Nan Xian's heart was completely melted. She sat up, let it lie on its back on her lap, and buried her face in its soft belly.

Nan Nan didn't have any strange smell at all; it smelled like sunshine, healing and warm, and Nan Xian was immediately satisfied.

In reality, she is severely allergic to cat fur and cannot touch Nan Nan. However, in her dream, she can pet the cat without any worries and pet it however she wants!

But at that moment, Nan Xian's back suddenly stiffened—

That familiar, chilling sense of dread washed over her like a rising tide.

She knew that the black snake had returned.

She instinctively hugged Nan Nan tightly, curled up on the ground, and scanned her surroundings warily and uneasily.

A cold wind blew by, and the once sunny sky was instantly covered with a gray haze. Several dark clouds drifted in from afar, and even faint thunder could be heard.

The surroundings grew dark, and the air was filled with a damp and oppressive smell. She could feel it approaching her.

"Tick-tock", "tick-tock"...

Rain fell, pounding on the grass and splashing up a cool spray.

From the place shrouded in the shadows of dark clouds, black shadows, like the tentacles of a giant octopus, emerged, swaying and waving, greedily searching for traces of their prey.

Nan Xian trembled, stood up abruptly, stared in astonishment at the scene, and subconsciously took a step back.

The shadowy figures moved even faster toward her, and Nan Xian's heart pounded wildly as her fear slowly climbed to its peak, like a rollercoaster ride.

"Meow—"

Nan Nan struggled to peek out of her arms, trying to jump out.

Nan Xian quickly scooped it up, her voice trembling as she coaxed, "Nan Nan, be good, don't leave me..."

Nan Nan struggled even harder, and even subconsciously extended her sharp fingernails.

Nan Xian was unaware that its fingernail had scratched the back of her hand, and she stopped applying pressure in pain.

Taking advantage of the moment, Nan Nan leaped down from her arms and dashed into the rain like a small black lightning bolt, heading straight for the dark figures.

Nan Xian was both shocked and frightened. Ignoring her injured hand, she gritted her teeth and chased after him.

"Nan Nan, come back quickly—"

The sound stopped abruptly when the scene before them was seen.

Nan Nan stood in front of those dark figures, her fur standing on end, baring her teeth and hissing at them.

And those dark figures were indeed blocked by it, and with each step Nan Nan took forward, they followed closely behind and retreated, seemingly terrified of it.

Nan Xian stared blankly at the fluffy, wet kitten that she could easily hold in her two hands.

This is the second time it has protected her in her dream.

The first time, she could still tell herself it was a coincidence, but how could she explain the second time?

South South...

Is it really just an ordinary kitten?
