Chapter 69 The Fox Mark

After laughing for a while, Nan Xian didn't forget the important matter.

She adjusted her hat to make sure the wig was still on, then pulled up her mask to cover her face. Taking advantage of the moment when the receptionist was looking at her phone, she quickly crossed the lobby and pressed the elevator up button.

She got this outfit after bribing the cleaning staff. The cleaning staff had worked at the hotel for many years and was obviously not doing this for the first time. They immediately assumed that Nan Xian was Kou Xiangxin's stalker and didn't ask too many questions.

"Hurry up, hurry up..." Nan Xian couldn't help but pray softly as she watched the numbers on the screen drop down one by one.

But at that very moment—

"Hey you, cleaning staff over there, it's staff meeting time right now, what are you doing here?"

A stern voice came from behind.

Nan Xian stiffened, turned her head, and saw a middle-aged man in a hotel manager's uniform walking quickly toward her.

In a flash, she calmed down.

She lowered her eyes, lowered her voice slightly, and said the words she had prepared beforehand: "Manager, I left my things in the guest room upstairs."

The manager walked up to her, frowned upon hearing this, and his tone became stern: "How could you make such a basic mistake? How did you even pass the training? Go to your team leader after get off work to register this, and I'll deduct your bonus for this month!"

Nan Xian's lips twitched, thinking to herself that this manager must be the reincarnation of Huang Shiren, as he could just casually mention a month's bonus.

She was inwardly cursing, but showed no sign of it on her face. She bowed even lower and said, "Yes, manager."

After saying that, she was about to turn around when she was called back.

The manager squinted, looked her up and down, and frowned thoughtfully.

"Wait a minute—I feel like I've never seen you before?" He suddenly remembered the incident a while ago when a minor celebrity stayed at a hotel and had her personal belongings stolen, and the mole hadn't been caught yet. His expression changed slightly. "Take off your mask!"

Nan Xian's heart skipped a beat, and she quickly said, "I just started working here a few days ago, and I've caught a bit of a cold recently. I'm afraid of infecting others." After saying that, she coughed a few times very seriously.

The manager chuckled cryptically, then suddenly stepped forward and reached out to pull off her mask.

Nan Xian was shocked and instinctively stepped back, looking up at his movements nervously.

The manager met her gaze, then froze for half a second before slowly lowering his hand, his serious expression relaxing.

He nodded, his gaze slightly unfocused, and said in a calm tone, "I understand. Go and come back quickly."

After saying that, he turned around and walked away with measured steps.

Nan Xian: ...What the heck??

Why did this person look so fierce and try to rush over and tear off their mask just now, but now... they're gone?

She stood there stunned for a while, until she heard the elevator start behind her, then she quickly went in and pressed the button for Kou Xiang's new room.

The manager was walking along when he suddenly stopped and shuddered. He blinked, his eyes gradually focusing, and he looked around blankly as if waking from a dream.

"Uh... how did I get here? Wait, what was I doing here?" He scratched his head in confusion, pulling a handful of hair from his already thinning scalp, and sighed, "Ugh, my memory has been terrible lately..."

He shook his head and walked away.

Unbeknownst to him, after he finished speaking, a tiny fox mark slowly disappeared from his forehead.
