Chapter 352

After listening to the first leader's description, Nan Xian finally understood why Huo Shaoying had been so heartbroken earlier, and she was even more grateful that she had brought the Gu Technique Book with her.

Not to mention that he needs Ruizhu to obtain more clues about the soul fragments, even if Ruizhu and he don't know each other, if he sees her suffering, she will definitely lend a helping hand if she has the ability to help.

After chatting for a while, Nan Xian started to yawn.

Knowing that she must not have slept well, the First Leader offered to go to the training ground for training, so Nan Xian went back to her room.

Lying in bed, inhaling the scent of sleeping herbs from her pillow, her eyelids grew heavy, and she soon drifted off to sleep...

"Sister—Sister—Wake up~"

A cheerful girl's voice rang in her ears, growing clearer and clearer. Nan Xian opened her eyes and was first stung by the sunlight overhead. She instinctively raised her arm to shield her eyes.

After a while, she slowly opened her eyes again.

Before me stretched a lush, verdant field, with vibrant green grass and colorful wildflowers swaying gently in the wind, a truly delightful sight.

Not far away, there is a stream. Sunlight filters through the leaves and casts dappled patterns on the water's surface, like leaping gold. The babbling of the stream blends with the chirping of birds in the treetops, creating the most beautiful melody.

Nan Xian was unconsciously stunned, and she sat there in a daze.

Suddenly, a slender figure emerged from the nearby bushes. She had a round face, her skin tanned a healthy honey color, and bright, almond-shaped eyes that were as clear and lovely as a fawn's. She wore distinctive ethnic clothing, with silver ornaments adorning her neck, wrists, and ankles, which jingled crisply with every step she took.

She held a bunch of wildflowers in her hand and waved to Nan Xian with a grin.

"Sister—look!"

Nan Xian unconsciously got up and walked towards her.

As she got closer, she immediately recognized the girl—it was Gillian Chung.

However, she looked much thinner than when the two last met. Despite being at an age where she should be growing, she seemed to have shrunk – her eye sockets were prominent, her cheeks were slightly sunken, her collarbones were very prominent, and her wrists were as thin as chicken claws.

Nan Xian gently stroked her thinning hair and asked softly, "Ajiao, are you sick?"

Gillian didn't answer, she just smiled. She raised her thin hand and handed the bouquet to Nanxian, her smile still sweet.

"Sister, these flowers are for you!"

Nan Xian took it, and then, as if remembering something, said, "Ajiao, I gave the Gu technique book you gave me to someone who can understand it. Her sister has been cursed, and she needs the contents of that book to cure her... Will you blame me?"

Gillian raised her head, her eyes crinkling at the sound of his voice, and the corners of her mouth turning up in a wide smile.

"No, saving lives and treating illnesses... that's a good thing!"

Nan Xian felt that Ah Jiao today was different from the Ah Jiao she remembered. In her memory, Ah Jiao was lively and charming, her eyes always darting around. She would smile and accept her candy, then deliberately lie, "Gu is all a lie, there's no such thing as Gu magic!" She would feign surprise and say, "Sister, don't you know that snakes were considered gods in ancient times, and they could protect us?" She would even use a bell to lure her into the mountains and scare her with little snakes...

Gillian Chung was still lively today, but she seemed to have lost some of her charm.

Nan Xian's gaze swept over A Jiao carefully, then she suddenly noticed something and paused.

"Ah Jiao, where's your bell?"

She remembered that Gillian always wore a string of copper bells strung together with a red cord on her wrist, which would make a tinkling sound whenever she moved.

Gillian followed her gaze to her own hand. The smile on her face gradually faded, as if she had finally remembered something. She looked up at Nan Xian and blinked sadly.

For some reason, Nan Xian suddenly felt a tightness in her chest, as if a large hand was gripping her lungs without any force, yet she couldn't breathe for a moment.

Gillian reached out and gently grasped one of her fingers.

Her little hands were very cold; Nanxian couldn't feel any warmth at all.

She wanted to hold her hand in return, but Gillian only tugged at her hand affectionately before letting go.

"Sister, I really don't want to leave here, but—but I have to go." Her voice trembled with a sob, yet she fought back her tears. "Thank you for helping me fulfill my wish. I can finally turn into a little bird and fly high into the sky!"

Her figure receded further and further away from Nan Xian, and her voice grew weaker and weaker. Nan Xian wanted to reach out and stop her, but she was rooted to the spot and could only watch helplessly as her figure grew smaller and smaller until it disappeared into the hazy mist.

Gillian! Gillian, don't go!

She roared in silence, but no sound came out.

Nan Xian felt as if her heart had been torn in two; she vaguely understood that she would never see A Jiao again...

"Ah Jiao—"

The world before her eyes was as blurry as if it were submerged in rippling lake water. She raised her hand in a daze and touched a wet hand.

A servant knocked softly on the door. "Miss Nan, are you alright?"

Nan Xian lay on the bed, holding her tear-soaked hand, lost in thought for a long time, until someone outside couldn't resist pushing the door open to check on her, at which point she finally turned her eyes.

"I'm fine, you don't need to come in."

The servant paused, replied "Yes," and quickly left quietly.

Nan Xian sat up with the help of the bed, a sudden, sharp pain ripped through her chest, her face contorted in pain, and she held her breath for a while before she could catch her breath.
