Chapter 10 Have a meal with me

Gu Changlin noticed that Yu Lin was holding something, his eyes lit up, and he stepped forward.

"Yu Lin, you found a clue? Do you want to share it with me?"

Yu Lin glanced at Nan Xian and saw that she was pursing her lips and not saying anything, so he shoved the travelogue into her hand and innocently spread his hands at Gu Changlin.

"Brother, you've misunderstood. This was found by Sister Nanxian, not mine."

Gu Changlin clearly didn't believe it: "I saw you two come out together. You're allies, aren't you?"

Yu Lin maintained his innocent expression: "We were just having dinner together!"

Unexpectedly, this seemingly innocent child was actually quite cunning. Gu Changlin's lips twitched slightly as he turned to look at Nan Xian, "Nan Xian, you—"

He had barely opened his mouth when Nan Xian interrupted him.

"Teacher Gu, how about this, we can exchange clues and look at them, so neither of us will lose out, don't you think?"

"Of course, but I haven't found any clues yet."

Nan Xian smiled enigmatically, "Teacher Gu, stop pretending, you've already given yourself away."

Gu Changlin's expression froze, and he subconsciously reached behind him.

However, the clue he had tucked into his waistband was still well hidden and had not been revealed.

I've been scammed!

His face turned grim, and his gaze fixed on Nan Xian like a sword.

Before he could say anything, Yu Lin stepped forward to block his view and said with a grin, "Brother, you're not being sincere. We've only found a clue, and you're already trying to get something for nothing. We're not doing this losing business!"

Gu Changlin's expression had returned to calm. "So you really are allies?"

Yu Lin's eyes darted around, and suddenly he thought of something, laughing heartily, "Yes, and I also promised Sister Nan Xian that I would be her little follower in the first episode, and I would help her get the Explorer Medal!"

Nan Xian was taken aback by his words and looked at him in surprise.

When did he say that?

Gu Changlin's gaze swept between the two of them, he chuckled twice, and left with a sarcastic remark, "Then I wish you success in advance," before turning and heading down another path.

Once his figure disappeared from sight, Yu Lin patted his chest in relief, "Thank goodness, I thought we were going to lose this clue."

When he turned around, he found Nan Xian looking at him with a scrutinizing gaze. He blinked, and a blush suddenly appeared on his face.

"Sister, what I just said is true. I really want to help you."

Nan Xian asked with a hint of doubt, "Really? Why?"

They had only known each other for less than 24 hours, and had only chatted a few more words at the party last night. Nanxian did not believe that he would help her for no reason.

But then he said—

"Because I'm your fan, sister!"

Nan Xian: ...Another fan?

Seeing that she didn't speak, Yu Lin continued, "When I was in my second year of high school, my classmates and I read your 'Childhood Memories,' and afterwards we all felt that you were our dream first love—beautiful, pure, generous, and elegant..."

Nan Xian interrupted him, both amused and exasperated: "That was three years ago. I'm nothing like an innocent girl now."

Yu Lin was stunned for a moment, then frantically waved his hands, "No, no, it's not because you're innocent—I, I like you, not the character you play!"

This sudden "confession" caught her off guard. Nan Xian glanced awkwardly at the camera, trying to change the subject: "Aren't you afraid that if your fans see this, you'll lose followers?"

Yu Lin scratched his head and chuckled.

"My alternate account was exposed right after I debuted. They all knew I liked you, knew we were going to be on a variety show together, and they even celebrated my success in meeting my idol!"

Nan Xian: ...Okay, I forgot it was 2012, and people were still quite tolerant of celebrities' private relationships.

"So I will protect you, find clues for you, and help you win the medal!" Yu Lin clenched his fist and said confidently.

Having said all that, Nan Xian had no choice but to agree, silently praying that this part would be edited out in post-production.

If things escalate, fan wars are a minor issue compared to what might happen if He Mingxiao finds out—

That guy clearly still had designs on me; he's always been assertive and decisive, and he wouldn't tolerate anyone competing with him.

In her past life, she faded out of the entertainment industry, but she still often saw Yu Lin's name in news gossip.

When he was 21, several of his songs became hits across the internet, making him a top new generation star in the Chinese music scene. At the age of 25, he entered the European and American music scene with his song "South Wind," winning several awards and even receiving a nomination for the music industry's Oscars.

She doesn't want such a talented and promising young person to be ruined at the starting line of her life's journey because of her.

**

This was the first time Nan Xian had taken the initiative to contact He Mingxiao since her divorce.

She knocked on his door.

The waiting process has never felt so long.

Just when she thought no one was inside and was about to leave, the door finally opened.

A strong hand grasped her wrist and gently pulled her back.

"I was taking a shower and didn't hear the knocking." He Mingxiao's tone was clearly amused. "What do you want so late?"

The slightly ambiguous tone in his voice made Nan Xian's ears turn red without her realizing it. She pulled her hand back, trying to ignore his shirtless chest, and looked directly into his eyes seriously.

"Mr. He, I have something serious to tell you."

"Hmm." He Mingxiao smiled and smiled, clearly in a good mood.

“We are divorced, so I hope you will not interfere in my life, especially my private relationships, and even less so involve other people.”

She paused, her tone softening, "For you, some things can be changed simply by talking, but for others, it may take a huge price to achieve the same result."

He Mingxiao narrowed his eyes, a dangerous glint flashing in them. "Are you implying that I shouldn't touch Yu Lin?"

Nan Xian was startled, and her hands hanging at her sides clenched instantly.

She didn't expect him to find out so quickly, and what worried her even more was that he had probably already taken some action.

The image of Yu Lin bringing glory to the country flashed through her mind, and she gritted her teeth, "Yes, I'm talking about him. He's only nineteen years old, still a greenhorn, don't make things difficult for him."

He Mingxiao stared intently at Nan Xian, his gaze deep and intense. "You care about him a lot? What, have you changed your taste and now prefer pretty boys?"

"He Mingxiao!" Nan Xian was furious, glaring at him with wide eyes.

"Okay, I was just kidding. I know which one you like best."

He deliberately or unintentionally ran his fingers over his well-defined eight-pack abs, then straightened up.

"I can agree to that, but as you know, I'm a businessman, and businessmen only care about profit. If I agree to not touch him, what benefit will I get?"

Seeing that his attitude had softened, Nan Xian breathed a slight sigh of relief and asked helplessly, "What do you want?"

"Have a meal with me after the recording is over."

She nodded, "Okay, but I'll have to decide the location."

He Mingxiao smiled again, "I'm already looking forward to it... It's chilly at night, remember to cover yourself with an extra blanket."

Nan Xian didn't turn around and slammed the door shut.

He shook his head and chuckled, then turned and went back to his room, where he opened his phone and sent a message.

[Don't touch him for now, keep a close eye on him.]
