Chapter 51 Finding Evidence at the Scene
The night before he was discharged from the hospital, doctors came into Jian Zhengyuan's room one after another.
When I was discharged from the hospital the next day, rumors were flying all over the hospital.
They said Jian Zhengyuan was still lustful, secretly watching porn videos without restraint, and that the injuries to his tertiary function from the car accident had worsened. They also said he would never be able to get an erection again, with no hope of treatment.
Rumors were passed back and forth, some true and some false, and Gao Li had no idea which ones were true and which ones were false, but it was true that he felt bad.
So, on the day he was discharged from the hospital, Gao Li was happier than usual.
The things had been packed up when Jian Yi suddenly called her.
"I want to visit the scene of the accident before I go back."
--[Um? ]
But Jian Yi didn't explain too much, so Gao Li thought that he might as well go with him.
The car twisted and turned, left the national highway, and started to drive on a sparsely populated road.
Gao Li noticed that they didn't see any other cars passing by during the time they drove over.
——[This damn old man is quite cunning, choosing such a sparsely populated place. This place is really suitable for killing people and hiding bodies.]
Upon arriving at the scene, the car braked to a stop.
Jian Yi and Gao Li got out of the car and looked around.
From the traces left at the scene, it can still be seen that a serious car accident occurred here not long ago.
Jian Yi looked up and looked around. This place was really well chosen. Looking around, there was not a single usable camera.
According to Gao Li, both people were sent to the hospital after the accident, but neither side called the police. This place is sparsely populated, so the scene must not have been cleaned up.
Gao Li was squatting beside a stone pillar not far away. There was a dent on it from an impact, which showed how tragic the incident was.
She didn't call the police, mainly because she had watched too many TV dramas and novels and felt that this matter was not very reliable.
This was her fictional world, where the Jian family sat at the pinnacle of North City. In this world, wealthy families held immense power, and even if they were brought to the police station, they had all sorts of ways to escape their crimes.
Therefore, Gao Li never considered this path. After all, she had a golden finger, so there would always be a chance to avenge this.
"Gao Li, please help me go down and see if there are any clues."
Jian Yi waved his hand and called Gao Li back.
He wanted to see it for himself, but it was a landslide with trees and sharp branches, which was not convenient for him in a wheelchair.
"Look for anything left behind, like a cell phone or something."
Since he woke up, he had not seen the previous mobile phone, nor had he heard where it went, so it must still be at the scene.
Gao Li turned around, took a step and then paused.
The landslide was dotted with uneven trees, some with sharp branches, like swords piercing the soil, looking incredibly sharp. Each one seemed to gleam with a cold light, making people afraid to touch it. The ground was also scattered with rocks of various sizes, some sharp and some round, which could easily cause a wound if accidentally scratched.
——[This is too dangerous. It's hard to place your feet. You could easily get scratched or trip if you're not careful.]
No. 13: "There's nothing we can do. Let's be careful."
Gao Li just complained a few words, it wasn't that he was unwilling to go, but...
Her round eyes turned cunningly, and she wrote on the phone screen.
[It's dangerous down there, and you could easily get hurt. So, you can trade yesterday's promise for this errand.]
She blinked her eyes, and no one could fail to understand what she meant.
——[The request I agreed to yesterday was originally intended to be a errand. Now is the perfect opportunity to use it quickly to avoid any more complications in the future.]
Jian Yi: “…”
"Can."
You have to ask for help from others, what else can you do?
Gao Li stepped into the landslide with satisfaction, carefully avoiding stones and sharp edges. As he walked down, he saw broken glass all over the ground. Not far away, a large rock lay quietly, with a large scar on it. However, because it had been washed away by rain, it looked less clear than before.
She recognized it immediately.
——[This is the stone that Jian Yi hit his head on.]
Gao Li walked closer quickly, and the scene he saw in the mirror appeared clearly in front of him again.
She remembered clearly that Jian Yi had bled a lot, and most of the stone was stained red.
Under the stone, there was a piece of wood that had been sawed off. This was the wood that had pierced Jian Yi's chest. It was sawed off during the rescue that night.
Going further down, there was another broken tree, and there was also a dark red spot next to it.
No. 13: "This should be Jian Zhengyuan's position."
Gao Li looked around and saw an overturned car parked in the distance, its shape unclear.
——[This must be the car from that night.]
She tiptoed over quickly, and by then, Jian Yi could no longer see her figure on the side of the road.
He stared at the direction where Gao Li disappeared. If it wasn't really inconvenient, he would rather go there himself.
If he couldn't hear her inner voice at all times and judge that she was not in danger, he would not be able to sit still.
The black car lay tumbled and wrecked in the wreckage, its body so dented it was unrecognizable. Metal and glass shards flew everywhere, and shards of glass clung precariously to the window frames. The rain-beaten metal had also corroded the surface.
Gao Li carefully took off the shaking piece of glass and threw it away, then leaned over to look inside.
——[This old man is so thoughtful that he deliberately didn’t install a dashcam. He even considered this point, haha.]
After cursing angrily, she looked carefully to see if she could find the left-behind cell phone.
——[No. 13, did you see anything?]
No. 13: “No.”
——[Can't you use my eyes as a vehicle to see the world I see? Isn't two pairs of eyes enough to see it all?]
No. 13: "It's a mess, and it's even uglier inside."
——[Stop talking nonsense, look quickly with your dead eyes.]
It is indeed difficult to find it in an abandoned car, but it is easier to find it outside because of the wide view.
However, no remains were found all the way down from above. Gao Li guessed that it was most likely on the car side, and the conflict at that time started in the car.
Gao Li walked around the car, looked inside and out twice but still couldn't find it.
——[Could it be that this trip really yielded nothing?]
——[Looking at the traces here, it doesn't look like anyone has been here before. Besides, not many people pass by this deserted place anyway. Logically, it should still be there if no one has picked it up.]
——[Dead Eyes, any clues?]
Gao Li gave up and planned to go back.
No. 13 was excited, "Host, wait a minute, look at that, is that it?"
——[Which one?]
No. 13: "Inside the car, between the driver's seat and the gear shift, that's it, right?"
Gao Li looked in the direction pointed by No. 13, and indeed saw a black flat object in the gap between the seat and the gear shift cover.
But it is so hidden that we cannot see the whole picture and cannot be sure.
——[However, judging from the shape, it should be.]
No. 13: "But host, how do we get it?"
This is indeed a big problem.
But since I've come here and seen everything, how can I go back empty-handed?
Gao Li rolled up his sleeves, cleaned the glass shards on the car window, and was about to get in.
No. 13: "Host, you need to get in. This car is unstable and too dangerous."
——[What can I do? There's no one else who can do it except me. I will be careful.]
The car was not parked smoothly to begin with, and when someone got inside, it started shaking.
Gao Li was nervous, tried to lower his center of gravity, and stretched out his arm to grab it.
——[I touched it, it’s a cell phone.]
Fortunately, the phone was found, but unfortunately, like the car, it was badly damaged. The screen was shattered and it wouldn't turn on.
——[Alas, it's broken into this state. Even if I ask a professional to repair it, I don't know if they can extract the contents.]
She believed that there must be some evidence in the phone.
Even though she was drugged and fell into such a deep sleep that night, Jian Yi was still able to open the recording on her phone. She didn't believe that Jian Yi wouldn't use his own phone to record the conversation.
As she was about to climb out, the car suddenly shook, and with a "bang", it flipped over.
Everything happened so suddenly. Gao Li subconsciously covered his head and screamed.
"ah--"
There was no one in sight, and screams of terror came through the layers of trees. Jian Yi's heart tightened, and he immediately called her.
He already regrets it.
The broken glass fell and slid across the back of Gao Li's hand, and blood appeared instantly.
After the bumps stabilized, she quickly climbed out and waited until there was no danger at all. Then she squatted down as her legs gave way.
——[No. 13, that was so scary just now. I was almost scared to death just by this. If I was thrown around in the car, I would go crazy.]
No. 13: "But host, the back of your hand is bleeding."
Gao Li lowered his head and realized that his attention had not been on it before.
She took out a tissue from her pocket and held it down.
——[It’s okay, just a minor wound.]
No one answered the call, but Jian Yi knew her current situation and knew she should be fine.
About ten minutes later, Gao Li finally came back, covering the back of his hand.
She took out her cell phone and handed it to Jian Yi.
——[Here, the phone you were looking for is broken.]
Jian Yi took the phone, but his eyes were always on her hand.
Pulling her hand over, Jian Yi lifted the tissue. It was stained red, but thankfully the bleeding had stopped. The wound wasn't large, but it was still noticeable on her fair arm.
He gently wiped off the paper scraps and tore off a Band-Aid to put on it.
Gao Li waved his hand and prepared to get in the car.
——[It’s quite straight, the craftsmanship is quite good.]
"Thanks."
I had already opened the car door when I suddenly heard this sentence from behind.
She ran back happily, but she couldn't flatten the corners of her lips.
[What did you just say?]
Jian Yi pushed the wheelchair closer to the car and repeated unnaturally, "Thank you."
It's so uncomfortable to express gratitude to others.
Gao Li, however, was spinning around in circles, cheering.
——[No. 13, did you hear that? He’s saying thank you to me.]
——[Oh my god, I wish I could hear a villain say thank you in my lifetime.]
Number 13 echoed, "Yes, yes, I heard that too."
But after cheering, she frowned cautiously.
——[Isn’t this OOC?]
No. 13: "Isn't this good? It shows that Jian Yi is not an irredeemable villain."
——[That’s right, that’s how people like you.]
