Chapter 22
Tao Zhi met Liang Jingyi the next day.
A girl whose appearance doesn't match her name.
She was very tall, at least 1.7 meters tall, and Tao Zhi had to look up to see her.
She is thin, strong, powerful and has beautiful lines.
But there is baby fat on her face, and her eyes narrow into slits when she smiles.
Tao Zhi fell in love with this lovely girl at first sight.
"Sister, how old are you?"
"Hello, Auntie. I am twenty years old."
Tao Zhi couldn't bear it as he was so young, so she turned her gaze to Wen Xu.
Liang Jingyi saw it, and she quickly volunteered: "Auntie, I volunteered, and my parents agreed."
"Do you understand what the job entails?"
"I know. My brother said that what you practice in school is routine, and what you practice outside is real combat."
Tao Zhi laughed: "It's not that scary. The job is actually very simple. You just follow Sister Cheng Xing and go out together. If there is any danger, just avoid it. You don't need to risk your life."
Liang Jingyi looked confident, "That's even more no problem, I have the most experience in escaping."
The little girl touched Tao Zhi, and under the witness of Wen Xu, he signed a labor contract with her.
Liang Jingyi opened her mouth wide: "So formal?"
Wen Xu nodded at her: "This is all for your own good."
She bowed and said, "Thank you, brother, and thank you, auntie."
Liang Jingyi was going home to pack her clothes and was scheduled to take up her new post tomorrow. Her bedroom was arranged to be next to Cheng Xing.
Cheng Xing doesn't know how to drive a motorcycle, so when Cheng Jun is not available, she rides a bicycle back and forth by herself.
So these days, she became the last one to arrive home.
Tao Zhi had the idea of buying another car. She asked Cheng Hui and Cheng Xing, "Why don't you two get a driver's license?"
Cheng Xing replied: "Let Cheng Hui go, he has more freedom."
Cheng Hui also said: "Cheng Xing goes first, I don't have time recently."
Cheng Xing said, "Brother, you can drive a motorcycle. You have the basics, so you will definitely learn faster than me."
Cheng Jun said: "I've been drinking a lot recently, so I don't dare touch the steering wheel."
Tao Zhi interrupted them: "Stop, stop, you guys learn first, I don't need you to drive."
They both breathed a sigh of relief.
Tao Zhi finally realized that these two cowards were too scared to drive on the road. Well, she, the old lady, would go and learn how to drive. If no one else was driving, she would take over.
Tao Zhi did what he said and went to sign up the next day.
Cheng Jun found out and praised her profusely: "Mom, you are awesome! You are much better than my brother and sister. I am so proud of you."
"Go, go, go, wait until I pass the exam."
Cheng Jun continued to flatter her: "When you learn it, you will be the first female driver in our family."
Tao Zhi thought of the new sisters from the underworld, all seventy years old, who were still traveling by car with their spouses. She was only fifty now, with plenty of time, so she asked, "Do you want your dad to learn too?"
Cheng Jun agreed enthusiastically: "While my dad can still sign up, hurry up and join the trend together."
Tao Zhi also thought so. After asking the old man for his opinion, she also signed up Cheng Xiangqian.
Learning is not something that can be done overnight, not to mention that learning to drive requires an investment of time and money.
But buying a car is imminent. Even with Liang Jingyi's company, they are just two young girls with little experience and riding bicycles to and from get off work. Considering the current public security, Tao Zhi feels uneasy just thinking about it.
She asked Liang Jingyi: "Sister, can you drive?"
"Auntie, I'm sorry, I can't."
"It's okay, Auntie just asked casually, no need to feel pressured."
Cheng Xing was calling out from the other side: "Mom, we are leaving."
Tao Zhi forgot to book a car, so she hailed a taxi to accompany the two of them to Dongshan Village.
The smell in the car was hard to describe. After getting out, the three of them looked as wilted as dried pickles.
When Tao Zhi arrived in the village for the first time, he saw the small two-story houses scattered everywhere and thought that this village chief was really good.
No matter how beautiful the scenery is, it cannot block the stench. She smelled the odor coming from her body and asked Cheng Xing to get the job done quickly. She stood at the gate waiting.
Gradually, people began to enter and leave the village office.
Suddenly, a short-haired man with a sickle on his waist caught her attention.
He was a thin young man, who looked inconspicuous among the crowd. But his vicious eyes were fixed directly in the direction of Cheng Xing.
Tao Zhi shuddered, turned around and hurriedly caught up, falling closely behind him and following him into the office.
Everyone moved towards the Wall of Glory. When the previous group finished viewing, they automatically moved aside to make room for the next group.
Tao Zhi actually stood out in the crowd, but everyone's attention was clearly on the list, and no one was paying attention to her at the moment.
Cheng Xing finished posting and turned to leave. At this moment, the man with the flat head pulled out a sickle and slashed at Cheng Xing.
Liang Jingyi noticed his movements, and she quickly stood in front of Cheng Xing, ready to take the blow from the bald man.
In a flash, Tao Zhi took a step forward, grabbed the flat-headed man's hand, and pulled it back with force. However, the sickle had no eyes and instead cut the flat-headed man, splashing a few drops of blood.
The bald man felt pain and loosened his grip, allowing Tao Zhi to take the sickle in his hand.
Before anyone else could react, it was over in the blink of an eye. The timid ones, seeing the blood on the ground, screamed in fear. Soon, the middle was empty, with only the flat-headed man and Tao Zhi inside.
Zhou Shangmin was drawn over by the sound. Seeing Tao Zhi holding the bloody sickle and Pingtou's bloody wound, he asked sharply, "What's going on?"
A villager answered: "We don't know either. It was Dongzi who took out the weapon. He seemed like he was about to do something, but this girl stopped him." He pointed at Tao Zhi as he spoke.
Cheng Xing was standing by, her legs weak as she leaned against Xiao Liang. It was obvious she was terrified. At this moment, she spoke in a trembling voice, "Village Chief, this person is coming for me."
Everyone was in an uproar and talking about it. This was only Xiao Cheng's second time entering the village. What grudge did Dongzi have with her?
Zhou Shangmin asked someone to bandage Dongzi's wound briefly, then sent for a barefoot doctor and to check on Dongzi's mother. This bleeding incident could be serious or minor, so it would be better if family members and a doctor were present.
Dongzi's wound was quite deep, and there was a pool of blood on the ground. He didn't dare to move.
Village Chief Zhou asked the villagers to leave and asked the village cadres to stand guard outside. He closed the door, sat down with a stern look, and asked Dongzi the first question: "Tell me, what is the deep hatred between you and Xiao Cheng?"
Dongzi lowered his head, pressed the wound, and didn't say anything for a long time.
Village Chief Zhou turned to Cheng Xing and asked, "Xiao Cheng, do you know him?"
Cheng Xing's face turned pale as he looked at Dongzi carefully. "I don't know him."
"You're talking bullshit." Dongzi said hatefully.
Tao Zhi went straight over and slapped him.
Zhou Shangmin stood up suddenly, "Big sister, what are you doing?"
Tao Zhi waved her hands: "Teach him a lesson." She stared at Dongzi: "If you can't speak, I can help you wash your mouth."
"Big sister, don't go too far."
Tao Zhi looked at him and said, "Village Chief, someone tried to hurt my daughter right in front of me. I can't help but be angry. Please understand a mother's feelings."
"Are you Xiao Cheng's mother?"
Tao Zhi and Cheng Xing nodded at the same time.
Zhou Shangmin sat down, feeling guilty at this moment.
"What about this one?" he asked, pointing at Xiao Liang.
"This is my assistant." Cheng Xing replied.
"Are you all sure you haven't seen Dongzi before?"
Tao Zhi was very sure: "I have never seen it."
Dongzi mumbled and wanted to say something, but under the pressure of Tao Zhi, he didn't say it out loud.
Zhou Shangmin kicked him and said, "Speak louder."
Dongzi fell to the ground with a thud, scaring Tao Zhi and the others.
Dongzi pressed on the wound, causing him to feel dizzy from the pain. He didn't dare to be stubborn anymore, so he calmed himself down and was about to speak.
At this moment, a man rushed in from the door. His mother rolled and crawled, and when she saw the cloth on his legs was bleeding, she hugged him and burst into tears. While crying, she cursed: "Who is this bastard? He is so cruel. Do you want to kill you?"
Dongzi's face turned red and he couldn't say a word.
Zhou Shangmin shouted, "Zhao Hongmei, be quiet. If you keep crying, get out of here immediately."
Zhao Hongmei finally stopped crying and looked up at Cheng Xing. Her strength instantly returned, and she stood up and rushed over: "You bitch, what are you doing in our village?"
Tao Zhi immediately stopped her and said, "Dianpo, are you sick? Why do you bark at everyone you see?"
Zhou Shangmin's suspicious eyes moved back and forth between them.
Zhao Hongmei wanted to push her away: "Who are you? A good dog doesn't block the road."
Tao Zhi sneered: "You know her, but you don't know me?"
"Who do you think you are? Why should I know you?"
Zhou Shangmin finally understood that this was a one-sided feud. He didn't see that Xiao Cheng and the others were still confused.
He ordered the village cadres to hold Zhao Hongmei back, "If you keep throwing tantrums, I'll send Dongzi to dig a canal."
Only when they saw Village Chief Zhou get angry did the mother and son calm down.
Zhou Shangmin stared at Zhao Hongmei: "Who is she to you?"
"My nephew's wife."
Cheng Xing suddenly remembered that these were Zhao Jun's aunt and cousin. She had met them at their wedding. It had been so long, it would be strange if she could remember them.
She told this to Tao Zhi, and Village Chief Zhou, who was also overhearing, found it incredible. "You're calling for the death of your nephew's wife?"
Zhao Hongmei said angrily, "She cheated my nephew out of all his money and ruined his job. Now my sister-in-law can't even afford to eat. I wanted to scare her so she'd give me the money."
Tao Zhi wanted to kick her, but a village official stood in her way and warned her, "No lynching."
Tao Zhi was furious: "My daughter is already divorced, and yet she's suffered this unprovoked disaster. I must demand some justice."
Zhao Hongmei was also angry: "Divorce? You haven't even got a marriage certificate, how can you say you're getting a divorce?"
Dongzi also interrupted: "My brother said that we haven't even had the wedding yet, and you ran away as soon as you got the money."
Cheng Xing came to her senses and stood up straight. The more she listened, the more something seemed wrong: "What's my name?"
"Don't think I don't know. Your name is Chen Xiaoyan, and you and Xiaojun were classmates in junior high school."
Tao Zhi was furious. She couldn't bear it any longer, so she dodged the village cadres and kicked them one by one.
"Open your eyes wide and see, this is Cheng Xing, Zhao Jun's divorced ex-wife."
Dongzi's eyes widened in shock.
