Chapter 30: No shoes left, just go barefoot

Chapter 30: No shoes, just go barefoot

"Sister Wei isn't here today." Song Yihui tried to stop Qian Pingtao, but failed. Long Weihe had previously instructed him not to enter the company. He rushed in, "I'm looking for Lin Yao!" Lin Yao was already annoyed, and when she saw him suddenly push the door open and cause trouble, she scolded, "What are you doing here?" "Where's Wei?" Long Weihe hadn't been to the company for three days, nor had she gone to her house to look for her. She had just sent a message saying she was taking Qian Duoduo out for a few days. It seemed she was following her promise to rest. The recipient of the message remained silent, didn't reply, didn't ask where she was going. "I don't know. Look somewhere else if you want to look for her!" He sat down. "I went to her place last night, but she didn't answer the door or the phone. The same thing happened today. You'd better tell me where she went." She was cleaning up the mess, and she was so angry that she had no place to vent. Seeing that he was still stubborn, she blew her anger on his head. "Why should I tell you? What qualifications do you have to care where she goes? Qian Pingtao, I'm telling you, don't do useless things all day long. Once you break up someone, they're gone! Whoever loses her is lost forever!" "I went to her because I have something to tell her. I got the information you asked me to find out last time. You don't want to know, right?" He had a bargaining chip in his pocket. She paused, still not in a good tone. "She went out to rest. She wanted to be quiet and didn't tell me where she went. You can tell me or not. If you don't want to, forget it." He worked so hard to get the job done, but was still not welcomed. He held his breath, his face flushed with anger. He wanted to say something or not, so he got up and left. She reached the door, grabbed the handle, and stood there for a few seconds, then turned around. "Li Mingpeng, Li Mingpeng was at Leon's place. He was the one who had the affair with Shi Zhenglin. That's all I'll tell you. Don't ask me how I know, and don't tell anyone I told you. I still have to work at KG!" As he left, she muttered, "He's acting like a human being, and he's still acting like one." Her suspicions were confirmed; something was amiss. Even after more than two years, her curiosity was piqued. The name Li Mingpeng sounded familiar. She remembered someone in Shanemo, Shi Zhenglin's former company, who was in charge of marketing. She frantically searched her computer for Shanemo's latest contact list, but couldn't find anyone. So she called a Shanemo candidate she'd previously inquired about Shi Zhenglin's situation. The person confirmed that there was indeed such a person, a graduate from the same batch as Shi Zhenglin, who had previously managed sales but had left the industry to start his own business. Their current situation was unclear. She wondered if Li Mingpeng and Shi Zhenglin were familiar with each other. What deep hatred could have led to such a drastic move to stab him in the back? A large, old bone spur had been thrown into the mix, and it had irritated her all day. Returning home that night, she lay in bed...

"Sister Wei didn't come today and is not here." Song Yihui tried to stop Qian Pingtao, but failed.

Long Weihe had previously instructed not to let him enter the company.

He rushed in, "I'm looking for Lin Yao!"

Lin Yao was getting annoyed when he suddenly pushed the door open and came in to cause trouble. He yelled, "What are you doing here?"

"Where's Avi?"

Long Weihe hadn't come to the company for three days, nor had she visited her home. She had just sent a message, saying she was taking some money and going out for a few days. It seemed she was putting her promise to rest into practice.

The person who received the message remained silent, did not reply, and did not ask her where she was going.

"I don't know. Look somewhere else if you want to find it!"

He sat down. "I went to her place last night, but she didn't answer the door or the phone. The same thing happened today. You'd better tell me where she went."

She was cleaning up the mess, feeling angry but unable to vent it. Seeing him still being stubborn, she vented her anger on him, "Why should I tell you? What right do you have to tell her where she goes? Qian Pingtao, I'm telling you, don't do useless things all day long. Once you break up someone, it's over! Whoever loses her is lost forever!"

"I came to her to tell her something. I got the information you asked me to find out last time. You don't want to know, right?"

He had chips in his pocket.

She paused, still unpleasantly, "She went out to rest. She wanted to be quiet, and she didn't tell me where she was. You can tell me if you want to, or not. If you don't want to, forget it."

He worked so hard but was still not treated well. He was so angry that his face turned red. He didn't want to say anything and just stood up and left.

He walked to the door, grabbed the handle, and stood there for a few seconds before turning around. "Li Mingpeng, that's what Li Mingpeng did with Leon. He was the one who did it with Shi Zhenglin. That's all I'll tell you. Don't ask me how I know, and don't tell anyone I told you. I still have to work at KG!"

As he left, she muttered, "You've done something human for once, and you still treat yourself like one."

Her suspicions were confirmed, there was indeed something fishy going on. Even after more than two years, her curiosity was still piqued.

The name Li Mingpeng sounded familiar; she remembered someone in charge of marketing at Shanemo, Shi Zhenglin's former employer, with that name. She frantically searched her computer for Shanemo's latest contact list, but couldn't find one. So she called a Shanemo candidate who had previously inquired about Shi Zhenglin.

The other party informed me that there was indeed such a person, Shane Mo, who graduated in the same batch as Shi Zhenglin. He was originally in charge of sales, but had left the industry to start his own business. His current situation is unclear.

She thought that Li Mingpeng and Shi Zhenglin should be familiar with each other. What deep hatred did they have that would make him do such a big thing and stab him in the back?

A pile of troubles, and then a large, old bone spur, irritated her nerves all day. When she got home that night, she tossed and turned in bed, unable to hold it in any longer, and finally sent a message to Long Weihe: [Where are you?]

Message reply: [Just got home. ]

She checked the time, it was almost eleven o'clock, so she changed into her pajamas and ran upstairs.

"Where is Long Weihe?" she came in.

"I'm taking a shower." Qian Duoduo opened the door.

"You're still up this late? This is yours." She handed him a set of Cars character toys he'd recently fallen in love with. She'd bought them online and had them at home for a few days.

His mouth opened wide, thinking she was being generous, and he counted on his fingers, "McQueen, Mater, Raymond... twenty! You're rich, little sister!"

"If you don't get rich, you can't buy what you want. If I don't come to see you, why don't you look for me? You don't call me. Am I still your best friend?" She squatted down and pinched his fat face with both hands, pretending to be hard.

"Mom wouldn't let me. She said you were in a bad mood and told me not to bother you."

"I'm in a bad mood because you didn't come to see me. Tell me, where have you been these past two days?"

"I went to Hong Kong."

"What were you doing? Did you go to Disneyland again?"

"No, my mother said she wanted to find an uncle."

"What uncle?"

"have no idea."

"Did you find it?"

He shook his head, pouted and lowered his head unhappily, "I didn't find it. Mom is in a bad mood. Sister, did you have a fight with my mom?"

She looked at him carefully and found that his little face was very tanned. She scratched his nose lightly with her fingers and said, "What's wrong with quarreling? It's normal to quarrel. Don't you children always make up after quarreling? It's the same for adults."

Long Weihe came out of the shower and said, "Duoduo, go to bed!"

She brought him into the room.

Lin Yao slumped down on a beanbag on the floor, looking at the suitcase with its lid upturned. Inside was a mess of things, probably because they had just returned and hadn't had time to pack. She said nothing.

Long Weihe came out with a towel on her wet hair, leaned over the dining table, and wiped her hair again and again. After a long moment, she said, "Are you feeling better?"

"I can't help it. You don't know how tough you are now. If I continue to be tough, I'm afraid we'll end up like Tang Ruifen and Chen Lanjing. That's the end of us." She climbed out of the bean bag with her hands on the floor, went to the refrigerator, and took out a can of iced Coke.

"You've been using Tang Ruifen and Chen Lanjing as negative examples for years now. I'm tired of hearing them. Is that person ingrained in you?"

"Stop changing the subject."

"Drinking this stuff so late at night. Are you having your period? Don't you want to be healthy?"

"My endocrine system is out of whack this month, and my period hasn't come yet. Anyway, everything's messed up, completely messed up." She slumped back into her bean bag, pulled out the can with a crisp, hissing sound, and took a sip. "I have something important to tell you. Li Mingpeng, do you know this guy?"

"Qian Pingtao sent me a message telling me about it. He used to work in the market at Shanmo. I've never met him."

Lin Yao was surprised that she was so calm.

"Why don't you react?"

"Why should I react?"

"He's been wrongly accused for such a long time and tortured so terribly, and you don't have any ideas? Shi Zhenglin must pay the price."

"The most painful price he can pay is to let him continue to be stabbed. It would be better if he is stabbed a few more times! I will help him get rid of the person who stabbed him in the back. He is dreaming!" She threw away the towel and took a glass to pour water.

"No, I don't care whether he has a grudge against me or not, or whether he was stabbed by someone. You, you are taking the blame. You need to make it clear. You need to tell him, let him know that he was stabbed and still attacked others. You can't continue to bear this blame."

"I'm so exhausted right now, I can't even survive. I don't have the time to bother with Shi Zhenglin anymore. Xingtan doesn't have any more posts to fill right now anyway. Let's put it aside for now." She took the iced Coke from her hand and handed her the warm water. "I went to the hospital a few days ago to see Li Huaigang."

Lin Yao was angry at her, "Why are you looking for Li Huaigang? Aren't you here to rest? I thought you were really going to quit me."

"I want to give you an explanation about this, and I also have to give myself an explanation. I really... I really doubt whether I am suitable for this job. The little black dot, like a little black dot, is flying around in my head all day long. I can't rest."

She paused and heard some movement in Qian Duoduo's room.

He was still playing with the car that Lin Yao had just given him on the bed and hadn't fallen asleep yet. She went to discipline him and then came out.

Lin Yao swirled the half-filled glass of water and squinted through it at the halo. "In this business, professionalism can't overcome human nature. It's uncertain and uncontrollable. If the deal actually happens, it might become a black mark that can't be erased. Let's all let ourselves go. Forget about it. Tell me, who did you go to Hong Kong to meet?"

"Boss Song Yuqing, Chen Yuantuo. Didn't Song Yuqing tell me about his boss's schedule when he arranged the interview? He's only in Guangzhou on Fridays and Saturdays, and he should be at the company headquarters in Hong Kong most of the time. I took Li Huaigang's resume to their office building and waited there for two days, but to no avail." She shook her head, feeling down. "I don't know if he's there or not. I asked the receptionist for a meeting for two days, but she wouldn't help me make an appointment, and I couldn't track him down at all."

Lin Yao understood what she was trying to do. "That's impossible. Let's not even talk about whether we can find him. Asking him for 30 days of leave for Li Huaigang? Impossible."

"I've just talked to Li Huaigang. As long as these conditions are met, he'll definitely join Zhuo Rui. I trust my judgment about this guy. I'm 99% sure. If that 1% of unexpectedness happens again, then God will not let me continue. Now is the time to try to get a chance to communicate with Boss Chen. I don't think I can trust Song Yuqing completely."

Lin Yao thought for a moment, then lowered his crossed legs and said, "I'll go. I'll try to get an appointment with their boss."

"How do you make an appointment?"

"Looking for Song Yuqing."

"You still dare to look for him? Isn't it a dead end to look for him?"

"I've lost my shoes, so I might as well go barefoot. Don't think I'll just die if he bans me. He's a dog, and even if I die, I'll throw myself in front of Song Yuqing and use him as a scapegoat."
