Chapter 8 Chapter 8 Childish Means

Chapter 8 Chapter 8 Childish Means

The next morning at ten o'clock, when Li Jinglang was about to leave for the psychological clinic, he found out that Tang Ningyue was on a business trip. He didn't sleep well last night. It was obviously he who started the trouble, but he ended up suffering from insomnia.

There was a note left by her on the table in the restaurant, and in the insulated box was the breakfast that her aunt had brought her that morning, but she left without eating it.

Li Jinglang seldom eats breakfast, but that day he just took a cup of soy milk before leaving.

When he arrived at the clinic, he threw the empty cup into the trash can at the door.

"Are you in a good mood today?" Hailin saw him through a window and glanced at the bag of soy milk that had just been put into the bucket.

"Yeah." Li Jinglang nodded and followed his gaze into the door.

"Have you been doing well lately?" After treating Li Jinglang for three years, Hai Lin could see the changes in him at a glance.

"Average." The answer was normal.

Li Jinglang sat in front of him and turned his head to see the goose yellow umbrella at the door. It looked very familiar. He remembered that Tang Ningyue also had one in her room.

"Oh, that umbrella belongs to my daughter," Hailin explained. "I heard it's some kind of peripheral product from a male celebrity she likes. I don't understand."

He smiled, and the wrinkles on his face looked particularly kind at this moment.

"Yeah." He nodded, coming back to his senses.

"How's your sleep lately?"

"Not very good," he said. "It's a bit noisy at home."

"Noisy?" Hailin smiled. "Are there any guests at home?"

"Well, not really a guest."

Li Jinglang clenched his fists and subconsciously glanced at the untied umbrella at the door. After hesitating for a moment, he spoke.

"But I guess I've gotten to know her anew..."

The story was very long, including his shameful thoughts. After telling it all, he felt like he was breathing a sigh of relief.

"So, you're in a cold war now?"

"No, she's just on a business trip." Li Jinglang shook his head, making sure she was no longer angry.

"You trust her now," Hailin said affirmatively. "Is it because your test was successful?"

"Will she think I'm despicable?" Li Jinglang lowered his eyes. He would never get her answer in this life, and this matter would rot in his stomach forever.

"Like you said, if she knew, she would forgive you."

"Because I'm a patient?" Li Jinglang didn't think he was being too harsh. He just wanted to know if she still cared about him.

"You'll be fine."

"The doctor said everyone should have a chance to be forgiven. Since she forgave me this time, I should forgive her for what happened before, right?"

"Are you willing to just write it off?"

“.....”

"As long as she's not like before..."

Hailin smiled, slid his nose across the paper twice, wrote a few words, and then patted his shoulder again, "Take a rest first."

"Dr. Hailin!" He stood up and called him.

"What's wrong?"

"She's really treating me well now." Li Jinglang frowned, as if trying to explain to him, "It's true."

"I understand, Jinglang." Hailin pushed his glasses and smiled lightly, "You need to rest now, okay?"

"......good."

That day, Li Jinglang left with another bag of medicine. This time, there were two more bottles than last time. Doctor Hailin said it was used to help with sleep.

This diagnosis and treatment experience was the most relaxing one he had had in several years of treatment, but it was also the only one.

-

Tang Ningyue went to the south with Duan Jiayu this time for his new variety show. In the mountainous area, the road was winding and the mountains were overlapping, which blocked the view and made people feel very uncomfortable. Duan Jiayu couldn't stand it on the first day.

The son of a wealthy family, he lived a comfortable life. He had never slept on a wooden bed or done farm work, and he couldn't get used to the local dipping dishes. But he never complained. In the middle of the night, while everyone else was asleep, he ran to the lakeside and stared blankly. Tang Ningyue didn't want to pay attention to him, but she had broken the screen of her phone in the car that afternoon. There were no stores in the wilderness to buy a new one, and she was worried about Li Jinglang going to the doctor alone, so she borrowed Duan Jiayu's phone.

"Didn't you bring two cell phones?" Duan Jiayu had just handed over the cell phone in his hand when he saw the work phone in her hand. He sat down on the spot feeling aggrieved and threw stones into the center of the river.

"How can you use your work machine to do personal things?" Tang Ningyue patted his back and said with concern, "Is it really that hard? Isn't it just two days of eating wild vegetables and living in a thatched hut?"

“It’s really easy to talk when staying in a hotel...”

"I'm out here to keep you company." Tang Ningyue smiled and sat under the banyan tree. She stopped talking to him and lowered her head to enter Li Jinglang's number from the address book.

Before he could finish typing, Li Jinglang's name popped up on Duan Jiayu's phone. Tang Ningyue raised an eyebrow and asked, "Do you know Li Jinglang?"

"Yeah." Duan Jiayu was still drawing circles on the ground with a branch. "What's wrong? Are you looking for him?"

"You can still be friends?" Tang Ningyue raised her eyelids, a little surprised.

"He doesn't want to be friends with me." Duan Jiayu's tone became even more aggrieved. "It's because I didn't have enough credits from extracurricular training, and the requirements for this project are very high. I just wanted to participate in a competition to get some extra points. He's so talented and can make drones, but he just won't help me. I begged him for a long time, but he still wouldn't agree."

"I...then what is your relationship?" Duan Jiayu suddenly raised his head again, as if he remembered something.

"My brother."

"Brother?" Duan Jiayu perked up and took a step to sit next to her. "Sister, please, can you ask him to help me join his club and participate in the competition? I really need these credits. Please, please."

"I'm going back to the hut to sleep now. I'm not feeling bad anymore. I'll be more energetic and ready to shoot tomorrow. Please."

Duan Jiayu's situation at school was very awkward. He didn't have enough credits, didn't come to school often, and wasn't very famous. No one at school wanted to be an extra trouble.

"I'll give it a try," Tang Ningyue said, "but I can't guarantee that he will agree."

"It's okay, it's okay." Duan Jiayu brought a cup of tea and sat next to her. "You ask first. Thank you, sister."

Tang Ningyue sneered, agreed helplessly, and dialed the number.

After two rings, the phone was hung up.

I redialed, and this time the call ended with a single ring.

The two looked at each other, and Duan Jiayu took the phone again and said, "Log in to your WeChat and use WeChat video. He won't answer my calls. He's annoying me."

"Okay."

Tang Ningyue's screen was completely shattered, and it was difficult for her to receive the verification code. It took her half a day to unlock her phone and scan the code successfully.

She made a video call and the person on the other end picked up the phone quickly, as if they had expected her to make the call.

"Jinglang, have you rested?"

"Not yet." He didn't look at the screen. He leaned his phone against the book and lowered his head to fiddle with the remote control in his hand. Next to him was a drone that was being debugged.

Duan Jiayu hid under the camera, leaning over the stone slab, tugged at Tang Ningyue's skirt, and whispered, "That's it...a drone."

"Have you seen a doctor?" Tang Ningyue slapped Duan Jiayu's hand away, signaling him not to worry.

"I checked it." Li Jinglang pulled the black bag from behind him and said, "I got a new prescription."

"Remember to eat on time," she said.

"Yeah." He nodded, then heard the rustling sound from the other side of the screen again. He looked up at her, "Where are you?"

"In one village, an old Buyi village, few people live there anymore, and it's been developed into a scenic spot."

Tang Ningyue was leaning against the banyan tree, and it was pitch black around her. In order to get some light, Duan Jiayu even found a flashlight to shine on her, just for those few life-saving credits.

"Yourself?"

Tang Ningyue's face turned awkward, she held Duan Jiayu's head tightly and replied, "There are still staff members."

"Staff." He repeated, "Is Duan Jiayu also your staff?"

The air fell silent in an instant. Duan Jiayu lowered his head a little aggrievedly, his head hanging beside Tang Ningyue's legs, looking so pitiful.

“…”

"Do you hate people that much?"

After finding an excuse to avoid Duan Jiayu, Tang Ningyue looked at the screen again.

“I didn’t hate it at first.”

"Can't you just get along with others?"

“I don’t need to get along with other people.”

Tang Ningyue looked at him. Even though he turned his head away from the screen, he could still sense the stubbornness between his brows. He had a fair and tender face, and a thin layer of muscle on his arms, but his whole body was more aggressive than that of a big beast.

"When will you come back?" Seeing that Tang Ningyue didn't say anything, he took the initiative to speak.

"In a few days."

Tang Ningyue looked at him with interest, as if she was teasing a cricket in a box.

"Are you going to stay with him forever?"

"I have to watch him."

"Why?"

"Because he's new, he needs someone to teach him." Tang Ningyue threw stones into the lake carelessly, constantly prodding him. Normally, he was obedient and playful, but the more he contradicted her, the worse it got.

He obviously didn't understand this truth. After seeing her treat him with such kindness after she came back, he forgot what kind of person she was originally.

"Newbie?" Li Jinglang closed the book in his hand and pursed his lips coldly. "Only idiots need to be taught."

"What's wrong with you today? Why are you so grumpy?" Tang Ningyue took a cup of fresh tea and found him even more adorable. "Are you still missing your sister?"

“.....”

"Guessed it?" She smiled. "I'll try to go back early. You stay here for a few days, okay?"

"Aren't you going hiking?" He spun the card in his hand, lowering his eyes to block out the dark shadows. "When are you going?"

"Isn't it because of the bad weather? Didn't your school cancel the activities?"

"I said I didn't participate." This time his tone was a little heavier and he frowned slightly.

"If you didn't join us, we can't go on our own trip even if the weather is bad."

"That's because you didn't take it to heart at all. I'm the only one who remembers it." He stared at the screen, as if he wanted to ask her for an explanation.

"Is such a small matter worth it?" Tang Ningyue suddenly remembered the word "betrayal" he said when they had hot pot last time. "Don't always make such a big deal out of nothing."

"Always?" He snorted.

Would she remember the past? She must have forgotten everything the moment she left Beining. Li Jinglang opened his mouth, then swallowed it back.

"You always remember my bad points clearly."

“…”

"What's wrong with you today?"

“…Nothing.”

Tang Ningyue sighed, as if looking at a raging puppy, and found it funny. "You are in a very bad mood today, so don't talk to me. Contact me when you have rested well."

After saying that, without giving Li Jinglang a chance to continue, Tang Ningyue hung up the phone, threw the phone aside, sat cross-legged beside the banyan tree again, and slowly threw stones into the lake one by one.

Duan Jiayu ran back to his original seat and continued to deepen the circle, lowering his eyebrows and looking pleasing. Tang Ningyue shook her head and threw a stone in front of him, causing him to look back.

"Do you care so much about whether others like you or not?"

"Sister... not everyone can be as free and easy as you."

"Then I'll teach him a lesson for you." She said generously, not knowing who she was venting her anger for. "Okay?"

"You blocked him?" Duan Jiayu suddenly turned his head, "Just like he blocked me."

Tang Ningyue scoffed at his elementary school-like methods. "Is this your way of revenge?" She nodded. "Alright, then we'll follow your rules."

Tang Ningyue had too many WeChat contacts, and she scrolled down several times before she found Li Jinglang's black and white profile picture. She looked up and glanced at Duan Jiayu squatting by the lake, pursed her lips and clicked on the profile picture.
