Chapter 1: The Wrong Child

Chapter 1 The Wrong Child

The crystal chandeliers in the luxurious villa illuminate the entire banquet hall as bright as day.

Today is the Lu family’s centenary celebration, and almost all the important figures in the capital city have gathered here.

However, due to an uninvited guest, the feast was forced to end early.

"So, the child I had with the Meng family was mistakenly taken away, and Meng Qingcheng is the biological daughter of the Lu family?"

Lu Anran calmly closed the folder and looked at the elegant couple sitting on the high seats.

Looking at the little daughter standing in front of her, who was raised by the Lu family with a lot of manpower and financial resources over seventeen years and was generous and well-mannered, Lu's mother Bai Yujin nodded, and pinched her eyebrows with a complicated expression.

The girl sitting next to her had a playful ponytail and was wearing a worn and yellowed white dress. She was holding the hem of her skirt with both hands, with her head lowered, and her legs were tightly closed together, showing a bit of uneasiness.

She sobbed softly, her eyes red and swollen, like little white flowers swaying in the wind, and she glanced over timidly from time to time.

"I know this must be sudden for my sister too. I'm sorry, but I really want to meet Mom and Dad—"

Father Lu tapped his fingers to interrupt, and looked at Lu Anran calmly: "What are your plans? Stay, I will go to your biological parents to send the buyout money."

Little White Flower's face turned pale and she couldn't say the rest of the words.

Why should she stay?

Lu Anran's lips curved into a polite and distant arc: "No need, now that your daughter is back, there is no reason for me to continue to occupy her place."

Lu Zhong believed that the Lu family had raised Lu Anran very well and that she was efficient and effective. Unfortunately, they were not related by blood, so no matter how generous and decent she was, she could not be as valuable as her biological daughter.

So if Lu Anran wanted to leave, Lu Zhong would naturally not keep him.

"It's up to you." He said these three simple words without interfering with Lu Anran's whereabouts.

Bai Yujin said calmly, "I'll have the driver take you there tomorrow."

It was too late. If Lu Anran was allowed to leave now, outsiders would think that the Lu family was harsh towards others.

They agreed on everything in a few words, politely and calmly. They didn't seem like a father and daughter who had been together for more than ten years, but more like a business negotiation?

Looking at Lu Anran, who was so dazzling just standing there in an ice-blue haute couture dress that people couldn't take their eyes off her, Meng Qingcheng pinched the hem of her skirt and couldn't help but speak, her face full of worry and concern.

"It's too hasty for my sister to leave like this. I just miss mom and dad. We could have lived together."

"Mom and Dad, I'm really fine."

She spoke softly, kindly and generously.

Lu Anran avoided her outstretched hand, smiled, and turned to go upstairs.

"I'll pack some clothes and leave. I'll have a friend pick me up."

Meng Qingcheng, who stayed where she was, looked at her mother pitifully: "Does my sister dislike me? I——"

"Okay, no need to act anymore."

Bai Yujin frowned and interrupted, "This is your first meeting, and she's occupied your position for over a decade. You should just ask for anything directly. Playing the role of best friend won't earn your trust, and it won't benefit you in the slightest."

Lu Zhong was also dissatisfied: "Starting tomorrow, the etiquette teacher will have classes on time at 8 o'clock every day."

Meng Qingcheng was stunned. This shouldn't be the case.

Lu Anran had already packed up her things and came down from upstairs. She only carried a small sheepskin backpack with the most important documents in it and left without any regrets.

Lu Qingcheng really thought that the Lu family was a good place. The father here was not like his father, the mother was not like his mother, and blood ties were nothing but tools for pursuing fame and fortune.

I just hope she can live longer in the hands of those lunatics in the future.
