Chapter 279 Treat important people with extra care

Chapter 279 Treat important people with extra care

Country A.

In a room on the west side of the castle, Situ Huajian sat on a heavily carved bed, leaning against the headboard, her lips pale with a hint of gray.

Lillian pushed open the door and came in carrying some Chinese medicine that was smoking.

"Huajian, drink the medicine first. I heard that Chinese medicine will lose its effect if it gets cold."

The bitter smell of Chinese medicine filled the entire room. The silver bowl was a little hot, and Lillian endured the heat and handed it to him.

Situ Huajian held her hand and said, "Put it aside for a while before drinking. I need to make a phone call first."

Lillian obeyed his wishes, pulled the quilt for him, then sat down on the chair beside the bed and quietly peeled an apple for him.

Situ Huajian called Meng Anran.

The other end asked bluntly: "Where are you?"

"Country A, our own castle." He answered, his voice as rough as if it had been rubbed on sandpaper.

"Why didn't you reply to my previous message? And you didn't answer my calls either." Meng Anran had a gloomy face. She had been very nervous during this period, fearing that Situ Huajian would be implicated and die at Bai Yujin's hands.

Situ Huajian's expression wasn't much better. He said gravely, "Bai Yujin tied me up in the basement of the Bogu Art Museum and injected me with a potion. I lost consciousness after returning. Lillian said I'd been smashing things for days, then trying to commit suicide for no apparent reason. I suddenly passed out the day before yesterday. I called you right after I woke up."

Meng Anran frowned and blurted out: "Side effects?"

"What?" Situ Huajian was puzzled.

"It's okay." Meng Anran came back to her senses and turned the topic back to him. "How are you feeling now? Are you feeling unwell?"

"The doctor said there was some toxin remaining in my body and I needed to drink Chinese medicine to detoxify it."

“Can we trust Chinese medicine practitioners abroad?”

"How about that? Can you treat me?"

"I have no plans to go abroad recently. When will you come back?"

"If you are willing to treat me, I will fly back tomorrow."

"Okay." Meng Anran agreed readily, always feeling that Country A was too unsafe.

Moreover, Situ Huajian was injured because of her, so she had the responsibility to treat him. She couldn't feel at ease unless she saw his condition with her own eyes.

"Okay, I'll arrange a flight for tomorrow."

After hanging up the phone, Situ Huajian put the phone aside.

He took the apple that Lillian handed him and took a bite. The sweet and sour juice spread in his mouth, but it couldn't suppress the lingering dry pain in his throat.

Lillian looked at his pale face, hesitated for a moment, and then asked softly, "Are you going back to China?"

"Yeah." Situ Huajian responded lightly, his eyes falling on the night outside the window. The dark forest outside the castle swayed in the wind like a dormant beast.

"It's time to take the medicine." Lillian picked up the medicine bowl, blew on it to her lips, and then handed it to him.

Situ Huajian maintained a proper smile: "Thank you for this period of time, but you don't have to..."

"I know what you're going to say," Lillian suddenly leaned in closer, the scent of her fine perfume filling her nostrils. "There's no need to be so fussy or elaborate, right?"

She pouted her red lips and said, "But I want to do this. Grandpa said that we should be extra attentive to important people."

Situ Huajian leaned back unnoticeably, putting some distance between them: "I understand your feelings, but..."

"But you just don't like me, right?" Lillian suddenly stood up, her skirt drawing a graceful arc. "It doesn't matter. This marriage was arranged by our two families anyway."

She turned and walked towards the closet and began to pack her luggage neatly. "I will go back to China with you tomorrow."

"This is inappropriate..."

"What's inappropriate?" Lillian didn't even turn around, her hands moving non-stop. "First, I'm your fiancée. Second, you need someone to take care of you in your current health condition. Third..."

She suddenly turned around, a sly look in her eyes, "If you dare to leave me, I will tell grandpa that you bullied me."

Situ Huajian was rarely speechless. He rubbed his brows, knowing that this young lady could do what she said.

Lillian snorted triumphantly at this and continued packing. She deliberately folded Situ Huajian's silk pajamas in a messy manner and secretly stuffed several bottles of her favorite perfume into the suitcase.

"Oh right," she suddenly remembered something and took out a sapphire necklace from her jewelry box. "I have to take this with me. I heard Meng Anran likes blue. I want to let her know what true taste is."

Situ Huajian looked at the spoiled and willful young lady in front of him and sighed helplessly.

"It's up to you." He finally compromised, but as Lillian cheered, he added softly, "But when we get to China, everything will be arranged by me."

Lillian nodded perfunctorily, not taking it to heart at all.

When the plane landed at Beijing International Airport, Lillian was reapplying her lipstick in front of the makeup mirror. She pursed her plump lips, turned to Situ Huajian and said, "When we see Meng Anran later, you mustn't..."

Before she finished speaking, she suddenly realized that Situ Huajian's face was even paler than on the plane.

"Hey! Are you okay?" Lillian put down her lipstick in a panic and reached out to touch his forehead, but was gently blocked by Situ Huajian.

"Just a little tired." He forced himself to maintain a gentlemanly smile, but the cold sweat on his forehead betrayed him.

Lillian narrowed her eyes and suddenly ripped open his suit jacket. Before Situ Huajian could stop her, she saw a faint trace of blood on his shirt.

"Why didn't you tell me that your wound was broken?" Lillian's voice suddenly rose, attracting the attention of other first-class passengers.

Situ Huajian quickly gathered up his coat and said in a low voice, "It's just a little blood, it's nothing serious."

While the two were in a stalemate, the flight attendant came over and reminded them that it was time to get off the plane.

Lillian snorted coldly, but calmly held his arm as he stood up.

When I walked out of the terminal, Meng Anran was already waiting for me.

She immediately noticed that Situ Huajian was not in good condition and quickly stepped forward: "Has the wound worsened?"

Lillian took the initiative to stand between the two of them, raising her chin: "I can take care of my fiancé myself. Where is the car?"

Meng Anran raised an eyebrow and glanced at Situ Huajian, who gave her a helpless look. She smiled slightly and pointed to the parking lot: "The black one."

As soon as they got in the car, Lillian ordered, "Go to the nearest hospital."

Qin Mu, who was sitting in the driver's seat and was being treated as the driver, looked at Meng Anran who was fastening her seat belt in confusion.

The latter simply introduced: "Lillian, Situ's fiancée."

Lillian then realized the driver wasn't an ordinary person. She tried to get a clearer look in the rearview mirror. Situ Huajian said directly, "This is Qin Mu, Chairman of Yunduan Group and Miss An's boyfriend."

"Oh." Lillian responded casually, not paying much attention.

"So, where are we going now?" Qin Mu asked.

"Hospital!" Lillian emphasized again.

"Miss An has the final say." Situ Huajian said.

"You!" Lillian's cheeks flushed with anger, but she bit her lip when she saw his forbearing expression. She muttered softly, "How could she, a businesswoman, possibly understand medicine? Even if she does, it's definitely just the basics."

It wasn't loud, but everyone else heard it.

Meng Anran maintained a calm smile and did not argue about right or wrong. "Let's go to Fushoutang."

Qin Mu nodded, started the car and drove out.
