Chapter 325 You Can Rely on Us

Chapter 325 You Can Rely on Us

It was already past eleven o'clock when Meng Anran returned to the Meng family villa with desserts and snacks from Yandu Hotel.

The atmosphere at home was still lively. It was a rare holiday for everyone to get together, and we would chat until late at night. Or we would play cards or watch movies until three or four in the morning.

Hearing the sound of the door opening, Meng Chenghong was the first to jump up from the sofa and walked quickly over to the boxes of pastries in Meng Anran's hands.

"Second sister, you're finally back!" He took the things from her hands and took her bag away. "Mom and Dad have been talking about you all night!"

Meng Anran smiled as she took off her coat, changed into slippers and walked into the living room: "Sorry, something happened and I came back late. I brought you some desserts."

Su Wanman quickly stood up and took her daughter's hand distressedly: "You are the one who is busy during the New Year. You must be exhausted. Come on, sit down and rest for a while. I'll go get you a bowl of chicken soup."

"Thank you, Mom." Meng Anran sat down next to her sister and asked curiously, "What were you talking about just now?"

"Let's discuss where we can go for fun these few days." Meng Zhen gave half of the freshly peeled orange to Meng Anran. "Do you have any plans?"

Meng Anran took the orange, broke off half and put it in her mouth. "It's so cold, we can go to the hot springs together. The hot spring villa in Rongcheng has been renovated, but it hasn't opened yet. We can go there in advance for a few days."

"Sure!" Meng Zhen's eyes lit up. "I haven't been to a hot spring in a long time. I can take advantage of the New Year holiday to relax."

"Yeah." Meng Anran curled the corners of her lips and smiled faintly.

Meng Yushu sat at the other end of the sofa, looking at his sister gently, and keenly noticed the faint blue-black spots under her eyes.

It seems that what she is going through is indeed a tricky trouble.

She probably had no choice but to not be able to go home for the reunion dinner.

"Come, have a bowl of soup." Su Wanman came out of the kitchen carrying hot chicken soup, the smile between her eyebrows full of kindness.

"Thank you, Mom." Meng Anran took the bowl of soup, and warmth came from her fingertips.

Meng Chenghong couldn't wait to open the dessert box, stuffed a large piece of cake into her mouth, and said incoherently: "Second sister, this matcha mille-feuille is so delicious! Every time you bring back a dessert, it's better than the last time!"

"Really?" Meng Anran raised an eyebrow and pretended to think seriously for a moment: "Looks like I need to give Yandu's pastry chefs a raise."

Meng Rong looked helplessly at his youngest son, who had always been a failure. He shook his head slowly, unable to conceal his affection. He turned to Meng Anran and asked, "Your brother said there was an emergency at the hotel. Have you taken care of it?"

Meng Anran caught a glimpse of Meng Yushu's slightly tense jawline, and a trace of guilt welled up in her heart. She knew her brother was covering for her, but such consideration only made her feel worse.

"Well, it's all taken care of." She put down the soup bowl and took out a few exquisite red envelopes from her bag. "Here, New Year's red envelopes. Mom and Dad, this is for you. I wish you good health and a long life."

Meng Rong took the red envelope, smiled and shook his head: "Our family is really good. The children have grown up and have successful careers. They can give us red envelopes in return."

He received red envelopes from his eldest daughter and eldest son tonight. He will take a few photos later and show off in the group of old friends.

Meng Chenghong curled his lips and said unyieldingly, "When I get a job in the future, I can also give you red envelopes."

Su Wanman and Meng Rong smiled and nodded in agreement. Meng Anran directly took the red envelope in her hand and patted him on the head: "You are not at that age yet. Concentrate on studying and practicing calligraphy."

She handed the red envelope to him and said, "Take it. Keep working hard in the new year. Don't forget what you promised me."

Meng Chenghong squeezed the two-centimeter-thick red envelope and cheered, "Wow! Second sister is so generous! I was wondering why it hurt so much when I slapped my head!"

The whole family was amused by him.

Meng Zhen and Meng Yushu also gave red envelopes to their younger sister Meng Anran. Everyone was well-off, and the main purpose was to bring good luck.

"An Ran, you don't look well." Meng Yushu suddenly said, "Are you too tired? Why don't you go upstairs and rest first?"

Su Wanman then noticed her daughter's slightly tired look and quickly agreed: "Yes, go take a hot bath and go to bed early."

Meng Anran did feel a wave of fatigue coming over her, and nodded obediently: "Then I'll go upstairs first, and you guys shouldn't stay up too late."

From the living room to the dining room corridor, she could feel Meng Yushu's gaze following him.

Until she reached the corner of the stairs, she couldn't help but look back and met her brother's deep eyes.

Those gentle peach blossom eyes contained too many emotions that she could not understand.

After returning to the room and closing the door, Meng Anran leaned against the door panel and let out a long sigh.

She pulled out her phone and saw a message from Zhao Ming: [Tomorrow morning at 10:00, I've made an appointment for you to meet Bai Yujin at the detention center.]

She pinched her brow, put down her phone, took her pajamas and went into the bathroom.

The warm water washed over her body, but it couldn't wash away the lingering images in her mind - Lin Rencheng who was shot in Situ Castle, Lu Yi who was unconscious on the bed and twitching all over, and Tian Xiaoyu who fainted in her arms after coughing up blood.

Every scene reminded her that if Bai Yujin and his subordinates were not brought to justice, this matter would never come to an end.

And I will always be trapped in the vortex and unable to escape.

Meng Anran never wastes her feelings on insignificant people. She doesn't trust or hold grudges easily.

But she truly hated Bai Yujin.

Bai Yujin must pay a thousand times more pain than what Lin Rencheng, Lu Yi, Ke Ling, and Tian Xiaoyu have experienced or are currently experiencing, in order to atone for her sins.

After drying her hair, Meng Anran sat down at the table, her eyes falling on the family photo on the corner of the table.

The family is smiling brightly in the photo, and she is standing next to Meng Yushu, looking so harmonious and natural.

Who would have thought that such a seemingly perfect family actually hides so many unspeakable secrets?

There was a soft knock on the door.

"Anran, are you asleep?" It was Meng Yushu's voice.

Meng Anran put away her thoughts and said, "Not yet, come in."

The door opened, and Meng Yushu walked in with a cup of hot milk. He was wearing home clothes, which made him look even softer.

"Drink some milk to help you sleep." He handed her the cup and glanced at her slightly pale face. "You've been too tired lately."

Meng Anran took the cup and said, "Thank you, brother."

Meng Yushu leaned against the table and said after a moment of silence, "Is that case...very difficult?"

She took a sip of hot milk and chose her words carefully: "Fortunately, the case is almost closed."

"Is there any danger?" He looked her straight in the eyes.

Meng Anran subconsciously avoided his gaze and said, "It's just an ordinary business case."

The room fell into a brief silence. Meng Yushu looked at her and suddenly said softly, "You know you can rely on us, right?"
