Chapter 327 You Are the Madman
As Meng Anran and Kenai were waiting in the meeting room, the metal door made a harsh friction sound.
Bai Yujin was escorted in by two female police officers, with shackles on her wrists and ankles, but she still maintained an elegant posture.
"Long time no see, Anran." Bai Yujin sat down opposite, a faint smile on his lips. "Did you bring guests?"
A cold light flashed in Kone's eyes behind the lenses, but he quickly regained his composure.
Today's conversation was led by Meng Anran. This was agreed upon at the door of the detention center before they came in.
This is to prevent the confusing conversation from stimulating Bai Yujin's thoughts and ultimately causing him to be unable to ask anything.
"Ms. Bai." Meng Anran looked directly into her eyes. "I came here today to hear you talk about Lin Zhengru."
Bai Yujin's expression froze instantly, and the shackles made a slight clinking sound.
"Lin Zhengru... is nothing but an ungrateful man." Her eyes were filled with loneliness, and a vague smile appeared at the corner of her lips.
"The first time I met him was in the lecture hall of the introductory psychology course." Her voice suddenly softened, as if she had returned to the spring of her twenties. "He stood at the podium, the sunlight slanting in through the window, gilding him. He had just turned thirty, and the cuffs of his white shirt were rolled up to his elbows, revealing his well-defined forearms."
Her fingertips unconsciously drew circles on the table, as if tracing the outline of the person in her memory.
"His teaching style is very unique. Instead of just reading from a textbook, he uses vivid examples to connect the dry theories. When the bell rings, the whole class is still eager to learn more."
Bai Yujin's eyes gradually blurred. "He stopped me and said my question was very insightful. You know what? That was the first time someone noticed me not because of my identity as 'the eldest daughter of the Bai family', but because of 'me' as a person."
The shackles made a slight sound as she leaned forward slightly. Meng Anran did not respond, but listened quietly to her continue speaking.
"I became the most diligent member of his research group. Every time a discussion ended, I'd deliberately linger until the very end, and he'd always 'happen' to stay behind to organize the materials." Her voice trembled with sweetness. "We often stayed up late in the empty classroom, chatting about everything from academics to life aspirations. He said I was the most talented student he'd ever met, and that my eyes were like lakes filled with stars."
Bai Yujin suddenly chuckled, and there was an unspeakable mockery in the laughter, and tears welled up in those old eyes.
"What a clichéd line, but I was completely hooked at the time. How could a young lady, so inexperienced in the world, possibly stand up to the elaborate schemes of a psychology professor?"
Her nails dug deep into her palms, her knuckles turning white.
"That rainy night, I returned to the classroom to retrieve my lost notebook. When I opened the door, he was standing by the window, holding a cup of hot tea. He said he was waiting for me..."
There was a brief silence in the meeting room, with only the slight clinking of shackles.
"Three months later, the school received an anonymous report. I knelt down and begged my father to save him. I used all means to preserve his reputation and hired him to work for the Bai family."
Bai Yujin's eyes suddenly turned cold. "I thought that as long as I kept him by my side, as long as I became strong enough, I could break away from my family's business marriage and be with him. But...it turns out I was just his carefully chosen prey, an ATM that would provide him with a worry-free life for the rest of his life."
That day, she finished her work and came back early, intending to give Lin Zhengru a surprise, but she accidentally overheard his conversation with his colleague.
The harsh words are still vivid in my mind: "That eldest daughter of the Bai family? She's nothing more than a gullible rich girl, a flower raised in a greenhouse, the most innocent. Young, beautiful, and devoted, it doesn't matter whether they get married or not. As long as her heart is with me, I won't have to worry about the rest of my life."
Bai Yujin's shoulders began to tremble slightly, not out of sadness, but out of anger that had been suppressed for many years.
"Later, I followed my family's arrangements and married Lu Zhong." Bai Yujin suddenly revealed a sickly smile, stroking the faint ring mark on her ring finger. "Lu Zhong's amorous and lustful nature once again proves how foolish I was back then. I actually believed that pure love existed in this world."
Bai Yujin raised her head, the madness in her eyes gradually subsiding, replaced by a startling clarity: "The White Dove Project is to create a pure world, without deception, without betrayal, only absolute loyalty."
Meng Anran half-closed her peach blossom eyes, her gaze gloomy as if a storm was about to come. "Just because of a man, how many people have you sacrificed? Those 'white doves' you used as experimental subjects, those broken families—"
White Turmeric tilted her head, her smile so gorgeous: "Sacrifice is necessary, just like a gardener pruning branches and leaves to make the flowers bloom more beautifully."
"Flowers?" Kenai's knuckles were white from pinching, and his eyes behind the lenses were bloodshot. "My sister, Ke Ling, died from your potion experiment. She didn't even know what she was going through until she died... You're not a gardener, but a poison that destroys flowers!"
"Ke Ling?" Bai Yujin frowned in thought, then shook his head nonchalantly, "I don't remember. Probably just one of the failed ones."
This sentence completely ignited Kenai's rage. He slammed the table and grabbed Bai Yujin by the collar: "Seven years ago! She died from your B potion!"
The guard stepped forward quickly, and Meng Anran quickly stood up and pulled Kenai to calm him down: "Sit down first."
Konai took a deep breath, his eyes piercing Bai Yujin like knives.
How ridiculous! A vibrant life and a warm family were destroyed overnight, and the abuser simply said, "I don't remember."
Not even a trace of guilt!
Fury surged in Meng Anran's chest, but she tried her best to remain calm. "You don't remember Ke Ling, but what about Lin Rencheng, who you ordered shot? And what about your biological son Lu Yi? Aren't they innocent?"
Bai Yujin suddenly chuckled, her laughter as sharp as glass scraping against metal. "Lu Yi? That lunatic? An Ran, have you forgotten how he treated you? You actually stood up for him?"
"He's not." Meng Anran gnashed her teeth as she spoke, pausing each word. "You're the lunatic! You used your own son as a test subject, injecting him with those damn drugs! Lu Yi has become like this, all because of you!"
Bai Yujin's expression suddenly turned ferocious. He struggled violently, the shackles digging deep into his flesh. "What do you know? Lu Yi is my only successful creation! He's smart and daring! He'll soon be loyal only to me! It's you... it's you! You stole my creation! It's you who stole his loyalty!"
"Heh..." Meng Anran looked up at the ceiling and suddenly laughed, a laugh that was both ironic and sad. After a moment, she regained her composure and pierced Bai Yujin with a piercing gaze. "Lu Yi is your work, but what about Lu Heng?"
