Chapter 337 I am his sister

Chapter 337 I am his sister

Meng Anran didn't know whether she believed him or not, but she nodded slowly. "I'll trust you this time. I haven't seen my junior high school classmates in five years, and I can't lose face in front of them at this reunion."

Lu Yi propped his chin on one hand, observing her with interest. The warm yellow light cast a subtle shadow on his silver eyelashes, making his amber eyes appear even deeper.

He suddenly frowned, and a playful arc appeared at the corner of his lips.

"Strange," he drawled, "you don't usually share these...personal thoughts with me."

His slender fingers tapped lightly on the edge of the teacup, and his eyes suddenly became sharp. "Who is this person so important?"

Meng Anran drank the cooling tea in the cup in one gulp, and the porcelain cup made a crisp sound when it fell on the glass coffee table.

"Alright, go lie down on the bed." She stood up and took out the acupuncture kit, "I'll do a detox for you."

Lu Yi stretched his body lazily, and his bathrobe slid down to his waist, revealing the crisscross scars on his back.

Those hideous marks glowed a sickly pale color under the light, like some strange totem.

"What you just said is really interesting." He tilted his head, his hair scattered on the pillow, "When did you start caring about what others think?"

Meng Anran paused slightly as she was disinfecting the silver needle. The cold light reflected from the alcohol cotton swab across the needle tip flashed in her eyes. "People always change."

"For example, are you suddenly concerned about your brother?" Lu Yi suddenly turned over and grabbed her wrist. His fingertips were cold, but his strength was surprisingly strong. "Lu Anran, what are you planning?"

The silver needle box fell to the ground with a "bang".

Meng Anran's eyes darkened, and she grabbed Lu Yi with a backhand grab. Her thumb pressed accurately on his pulse point, feeling the chaotic beating under his skin.

"You can't hold on any longer, right?" She lowered her voice. "The poison is spreading rapidly, constantly eroding your consciousness."

The pulse under my fingertips beat fast and slow, like a pendulum about to spin out of control.

"No matter how normal you pretend to be, your pulse won't lie," she said.

At that time, he was ordered to arrange a medicinal bath for Lu Yi, letting him soak for two to three hours every night. Obviously, Lu Yi now spends much more than three hours in the hot spring.

From the moment she entered the room and found that he had taken a medicinal bath even at noon, she knew that he had been trying hard to restrain himself from showing any signs of impending illness in front of her.

His silver hair shimmered in the light, as if covered in frost. His skin was so white it was almost transparent, and a red mark had formed on his wrist where she had held it.

Meng Anran subconsciously loosened her grip, but he grabbed it with his backhand.

"Your life is yours, why do you care about this little injury?" He chuckled, and the breath he exhaled had a faint scent of medicine.

Meng Anran pulled back her hand, bent down to pick up the scattered silver needles, and said in a firm but slightly awkward tone: "Lie down. I won't be responsible if you pierce the wrong acupoint later."

As she re-sterilized the silver needle, she casually said, "Lu Heng will be returning to China tomorrow and will fly directly to Chengdu."

Lu Yi buried his face in the pillow and uttered a muffled "hmm".

The shoulders under the bathrobe were tense. Meng Anran turned the silver needle in her hand in a circle between her fingers and said nothing more.

The snow fell silently all night and stopped only in the early morning.

There was still a thin mist outside the terminal of Chengdu International Airport. Meng Anran stood at the arrival gate, her fingertips unconsciously stroking the edge of her mobile phone.

The electronic screen showed that Lu Heng's flight had just landed. She looked up at the exit, her eyes sweeping over the bustling crowd.

Finally, a slender figure appeared at the end of the passage.

Lu Heng wore a dark grey windbreaker, pushing a suitcase with one hand, the other in his pocket. His expression was indifferent, his brows sharp and cold, like an unsheathed sword.

"Lu Heng!" Meng Anran waved at him.

Lu Heng paused, his gaze fixed on her, the coldness in his eyes softening slightly. He walked up to her and asked in a low voice, "Have you been waiting for a long time?"

"Just arrived." Meng Anran handed over the coffee in her hand, "I just bought a latte, it's still hot."

Lu Heng took the coffee and said "hmm" lightly, his eyes swept behind her: "Lu Yi didn't destroy your villa?"

"It's more stable than expected, but the toxin is still spreading." Meng Anran shrugged helplessly and lowered his voice: "Is the antidote you brought back sure it's effective?"

"Theoretically, it's possible to neutralize the metabolites of GX-9." Lu Heng took out a metal box from the inner pocket of his windbreaker, "but we need to do a blood sample test first."

Meng Anran nodded, and was about to ask again when a sweet female voice suddenly came from behind her -

"Senior Lu Heng?"

A girl in a beige cashmere coat walked over quickly, with delicate makeup, slightly curly long hair, and a cup of coffee in her hand.

She looked at Lu Heng in surprise, her eyes shining as if she had discovered some treasure.

"It's really you!" The girl smiled brightly, "I thought I was seeing things!"

Lu Heng frowned slightly and glanced at her coldly, obviously not remembering who she was.

The girl wasn't embarrassed at all and continued in a familiar manner, "I'm Lin Yan. I took the neuropharmacology class with you in college!"

Meng Anran looked at Lu Heng in confusion: "Aren't you from the Department of Economics and Management?"

Lu Heng said expressionlessly: "I don't remember."

He did take a neuropharmacology class.

But the classroom was so big, with more than 200 people, and he had no impression of the people around him at all.

Lin Yan's smile froze for a moment, but she quickly adjusted herself back to normal: "Senior is still so cold..."

She turned her gaze to Meng Anran and asked tentatively, "Who is this?"

Lu Heng didn't respond, obviously not wanting to pay attention to Lin Yan.

Seeing this, Meng Anran put on a polite yet distant smile and said, "I'm his sister."

"It's my sister!" Lin Yan's eyes lit up and her tone became even warmer. "Hello, I'm Lin Yan, Lu Heng's college classmate."

Meng Anran glanced at Lu Heng with a half-smile, and deliberately dragged out her tone: "Oh - so you are a classmate."

Lu Heng glanced at her coldly, his eyes warning her not to talk nonsense.

Lin Yan seemed unaware of the subtle atmosphere and continued to speak to herself, "Senior, how long will you be staying in Chengdu this time? Do you want to have dinner together? I happen to have a project in Chengdu..."

"I'm busy." Lu Heng interrupted directly and turned to Meng Anran and asked, "Where is the car?"

Meng Anran suppressed her laughter and pointed in the direction of the parking lot: "This way."

Lin Yan finally realized that she was being ignored. She looked a little embarrassed, but still forced a smile: "Then... let's make an appointment another time?"

Lu Heng didn't even look at her and walked straight ahead.

Meng Anran glanced at Lin Yan, smiled meaningfully, and quickly caught up with Lu Heng.
