New Chapter
By the time Li Fuqiang and his team had almost finished their work in Florida, nearly a month had passed. That evening, Li Fuqiang and his team hosted a dinner for their local partners.
In the afternoon, Zhiwei specially canceled her game and had her beauty team do a meticulous makeover for her. She chose a black silk dress that she and Youlin had bought together. From the front, it was a conventional off-the-shoulder, sleeveless design, with natural pleats at the chest that accentuated her slender figure. Turning around, however, revealed most of her fair back, with a deep V-neck that outlined her alluring curves.
Li Fuqiang couldn't help but swallow. Her makeup was radiant today, her hair was piled high, and her slender neck and back looked like lines meticulously drawn by God.
"How's this hairstyle? Not bad, right?"
"I'd like to let your hair down and block out this beautiful scenery."
Zhiwei turned around: "Don't mess around, I can't do this hairstyle myself."
Li Fuqiang took out a long box from the safe: "I was just thinking of giving it to you, it goes perfectly with this outfit." He opened the box and took out a diamond necklace, which was decorated with several large diamonds among the small diamonds, and the slender diamond in the center, weighing five or six carats, was dazzling.
He put it on her, looked at the beauty in the mirror, and couldn't help but kiss her neck.
As she walked into the banquet hall arm in arm with Li Fuqiang, everyone's attention was drawn to her. Youlin recognized the necklace at a glance—it was the very same necklace her boss had asked her to buy, a very valuable one, which she had originally thought was for her engagement.
Zhiwei accompanied Li Fuqiang as they exchanged pleasantries with their main business partners. Hearing that she had achieved a score of 94 within a month, everyone praised her. Li Fuqiang thought to himself that he had been playing for five or six years and hadn't yet broken 95.
Back in New York, Zhiwei contacted a real estate agent and listed the Central Park house for rent. Li Fuqiang was puzzled: "You like this house so much, how can you bear to rent it out?"
"I don't know when I'll be back. The house will deteriorate if it's empty; it needs people to keep it alive." Her conditions were quite demanding—she would only rent to single girls, and they had to keep the house in its original condition.
The day before returning to New York, Zhiwei specifically asked Youlin about Li Fuqiang's family situation.
Youlin told her that Li Fuqiang mainly lived in the "Rongdi" apartment near the China World Trade Center in Beijing, a high-rise duplex. He lived upstairs, and there was also a separate suite on the second floor for his daughter, Li Jiaqi, but she rarely came back, as she was studying for several degrees in Switzerland. Household affairs were handled by Shen Ping, who had been Li Fuqiang's housekeeper for over ten years.
Zhiwei didn't inquire further about his daughter and the housekeeper. After thanking Youlin, she prepared to leave.
Youlin called out to her, "Zhiwei, about Xuanyu—"
"who?"
Youlin paused for a moment, then said, "Oh, it's nothing."
The next day, after returning to Beijing, Youlin and the others first took their boss home. Shenping had the house cleaned early in the morning, and when she saw her boss return, she hurriedly went to arrange his luggage.
Li Fuqiang introduced, "Sister Chen, this is Zhiwei. From now on, her words mean my will."
Zhiwei politely extended her hand: "Hello. Nice to meet you."
Shen Ping was unsure how to address her, so You Lin gently prompted, "This is Miss Shen."
Shen Ping quickly grasped Zhi Wei's hand: "Hello, Miss Shen. Please feel free to contact me if you need anything."
Everyone was tired from their journey, so Youlin and the others took their leave after dropping them off. Shen Ping asked, "Mr. Li, would you like to rest first, or have a massage therapist loosen your muscles?"
"Don't rush. Is the house in Ya Yuan all set up?"
"Everything is ready, you can move in anytime."
"I'll have the family driver accompany me to take Zhiwei there. Old Wu and the others haven't been home for six months; they deserve a good rest."
Zhiwei stopped him: "You should rest well. They can take me. I'll come back tomorrow."
Li Fuqiang didn't insist. Shen Ping quickly arranged for someone to accompany the driver to take Zhiwei to settle her things, and also left the maid Xiaoyu at Yayuan to help out temporarily. She herself arranged for someone to give Li Fuqiang a massage and prepare dinner.
The long flight was exhausting, and Li Fuqiang fell asleep halfway through his massage.
After arriving at Ya Garden, Zhiwei thanked the people who had helped her and asked them to go home, but Xiaoyu stayed behind: "Sister Shen asked me to help Miss Shen with household chores from now on."
Zhiwei didn't force herself. She first called her mother to let her know she was safe, and then closed her eyes to rest on the chaise lounge.
Being young is truly an advantage; a half-hour nap left me feeling refreshed. Beijing in June isn't too hot yet. The room was well-ventilated, without any musty smell from being closed for too long. The air conditioner was on, the window was slightly ajar, and a gentle breeze rustled the white curtains, creating a pleasant atmosphere.
She then took a closer look at the room. The living room was in the north, spacious and square, simply furnished with a sofa and dining table, making it seem empty. The most remarkable feature was the terrace, about thirty or forty square meters, which, on a clear day, offered a view of the China World Trade Center. Enjoying tea and chatting on the terrace in spring or autumn must have been incredibly pleasant.
To the south of the right side of the living room are three bedrooms and a bathroom. The kitchen is on the left, with a separate door leading to the outside, allowing the nanny to enter and exit without disturbing the owners.
The decor was opulent, with a huge crystal chandelier shimmering with light. Zhiwei thought to herself that cleaning it would take quite a bit of work. Luckily, the floor was a light wood color, not that heavy mahogany. The wallpaper pattern was a bit tacky, though; she figured she'd have to find time to change it.
Xiaoyu came out after tidying up her things: "Miss Chen, would you like to take a look at the walk-in closet? The clothes are all hung up; I'll take care of anything that needs adjusting now."
Zhiwei nodded and walked into the master bedroom. Facing her was a huge walk-in closet, which was currently less than half full. Xiaoyu organized the clothes and accessories from the suitcases by season and color, placing the shoes on the shoe rack below. The unopened designer clothes, along with the shopping bags, were placed in the middle of the closet.
"Should we open these unopened bags and hang them up first? I'll iron the wrinkled ones together."
"Open them all."
"As for the other items, Miss Shen, please decide which ones should be placed where and let me know."
Zhiwei looked around the rooms; currently, only the master bedroom had a bed, the other furniture was missing. Fortunately, there was a small safe under the walk-in closet in the master bedroom. She locked her main documents, graduation photo, and the diamond necklace inside.
"We'll arrange the rest after we get more furniture."
