Chapter 9 Xiaofu and Xiaoya

Speaking of these two little kids, they were really pitiful. They didn't even have enough to eat. Even Xiaomin's mother had no milk after giving birth to Xiaoya with great difficulty.

Xiao Ya has been living on the only broken rice in the family, which she made into rice porridge. Now she doesn’t even have a mother anymore.

My little cousin Xiaofu is still so young. He can’t even walk. His parents are both gone. He is so skinny and small that he has no food to eat.

Now they have arrived in Jianye County, Liaoning Province. Lian Xiaomin brought her two kids with her and, after asking around, they walked on the road leading to Sandaogou Village from the county seat.

And those fellow villagers who were traveling with them also separated from Jianye County and went their separate ways to visit their relatives.

At noon, Lian Xiaomin found a place under the shade of a tree to stop and rest. She asked Xiaofu to look after Xiaoya while she went to the river a few hundred meters away to get some water to drink.

But she was so tired and hungry. She had been carrying one child on her back and hugging another along the way, and by the time she got here, the food she had was almost gone. She gave all the little food she had to the two little ones, and was reluctant to eat it herself. She was so tired and hungry that she fell down, and then Lian Xiaomin from the other world in 2023 came through.

The little girl had traveled all the way here, sleeping in the open air, and was about to reach Sandaogou Village where she could find her aunt Lian Qiuping, but... Thinking of this, Lian Xiaomin suddenly realized that she had to hurry back to the two children!

She left the space and returned to her sitting position on the grass.

She stood up with the help of the tree next to her and looked at the river not far away. She had no intention of walking over. Now that she had everything in her space, she decided not to drink the river water.

There was no one around, so Lian Xiaomin quickly used her mind to take out a cloth bag, inside which was an aluminum lunch box filled with porridge.

Thinking of Xiao Ya, she quickly used her mind to get warm water from the water dispenser in the modern kitchen of the villa in the space, and took out a bottle of milk powder.

Lian Xiaomin carried the bag and quickened her pace towards the woods where she had asked Xiaofu and Xiaoya to stay. It was only about two hundred meters away. When she saw the two little kids were still there, she finally breathed a sigh of relief and let go of her worries.

Xiao Ya lay in the bamboo backpack without crying or making a fuss. Xiao Fu sat on the grass, his small body pressed against the backpack, his little head resting on the edge of the basket, and he fell asleep with his eyes closed.

The moment she saw them, Lian Xiaomin's heart softened. They were such poor kids.

She squatted down gently, reached out and touched Xiaofu's dirty little face, and called softly: "Xiaofu, wake up~"

Xiaofu slowly opened his grape-sized eyes, and when he saw that it was his cousin who came back, his eyes immediately turned red with grievance.

He is only one and a half years old now. He is late in speaking and can't speak very well yet. But looking at his expression, you can tell that the little kid is afraid that his cousin will abandon him here and not want him anymore.

This little person felt very aggrieved and pouted his lips in grievance.

But when his sister came over, the little kid dived into her arms again. Lian Xiaomin quickly coaxed him: "Xiaofu, be good. I'm going to find something delicious for you. Look what this is?"

The little girl looked at the lunch box in her sister's hand which smelled of food. The tears that had welled up in her eyes were held back in an instant. She stared at the fragrant rice porridge with a dazed look, looking so adorable.

Lian Xiaomin sat on the grass and fed Xiaofu a few mouthfuls of porridge. When he had almost finished, she ate the rest. Then she took Xiaoya out of the backpack with her small blanket, put her on her lap, leaned against her chest, and fed her milk with a bottle.

The little girl was also very hungry even in her sleep. Her little mouth immediately found the pacifier and drank very quickly and hard.

Xiaofu, who had drunk the rice porridge, was very happy at the moment, as he was finally not hungry anymore. The little boy squinted his eyes in satisfaction and sat obediently aside.

The two well-behaved little kids made Lian Xiaomin, who had just traveled through time and had no choice but to start work immediately, feel infinite pity for them.

"Sister, it smells good." Xiaofu was still savoring the fragrance of the rice porridge. He put his little hands on Lian Xiaomin's legs and tried hard to utter a few words.

These two little kids only care about eating and drinking, they don’t know anything, they are so innocent and adorable.

However, this also makes it convenient for her to use the space to get things. Hehe, looking at the soft little baby in her arms, and the little cousin next to her with a tuft of silly hair on his head and who can't even speak fully, she doesn't have to worry about anything she takes out in the future.

Lian Xiaomin felt the heavy responsibility on her shoulders again, and from then on she became their support.

Alas, the original owner's family was really miserable. It was a pity that in those days, the land in his hometown was not good, the mountains were not big, there was not much food, and many people starved to death.

I heard that the land in the northeast is fertile and there is plenty of food. People in the original village knew to flee here. There are many people fleeing famine these days. I wonder how my aunt is doing now.

I remember that when my aunt was 20 years old, she was introduced by Aunt Xiu'e to a blind date with Li Xianghai, the only son of the old Li family in Sandaogou Village under Jianye County.

There were also soldiers in Sandagou Village who were familiar with Zhang Xiu'e's family. Zhang Xiu'e was a good person with a warm heart and was a reliable person. After they talked to each other, the marriage was really arranged.

Lian Qiuping was willing to marry to such a faraway place because she heard that there was black soil, abundant food, mountains connected to each other, good terrain, abundant supplies, enough food to eat, and they could spend the winter there without having to do any farm work.

Three years passed in a flash. Because the train tickets were expensive, Lian Qiuping was reluctant and had never returned to her hometown once. However, they kept in touch. Lian Xiaomin also came to her with the address on the letter, hoping that her aunt would be safe. She was the only elder relative left in the family.

After the little girl had drunk her fill of milk, Lian Xiaomin patted her back to burp her, and after a while, put her back into the backpack.

A few worn-out clothes were placed at the bottom of the basket, and a thin quilt was placed around the basket to prevent the baby from being scratched by the hard bamboo basket.

Lian Xiaomin put the milk bottle into the space. While the two kids were eating and drinking, she quickly stuffed two meat buns into her stomach. Now she finished the porridge in the lunch box, and then put the lunch box, milk bottle and other things into the space, and would go in to wash them when she had time.

With no other luggage, she now planned to go into the village to find her aunt as soon as possible.

Lian Xiaomin also had some plans in mind. Now that she had come this far, she must continue to look for her aunt and take a look at the situation first.

She has a space with supplies, and can support herself and her two children without relying on others, but the space must not be exposed. Especially most importantly, in this era, household registration is very important. Living with her aunt can ensure her household registration and continue to live here.

Lian Xiaomin carried the backpack on her back. The little girl drank her fill of milk and fell asleep again. She covered her with a thin grey blanket that she got from the space.

It is the autumn harvest season now. It is already very cold in the Northeast in November. Fortunately, it is noon now and the temperature is not low. The three of them are wearing very thin clothes, so they have to make do with it for now.

Lian Xiaomin picked up Xiaofu again and walked towards the path leading to Sandaogou Village that she had inquired about before.
