29 Bridal surgery night

Yu Xiaoxiao quickly turned the new house into a simple operating room. Except for Gu Xinglang who was lying there, everyone was busy.

The old doctor who wrote the prescription for Yu Xiaoxiao took the opportunity when Yu Xiaoxiao went out of the room to get dressed to walk to the bedside and whispered to Gu Xinglang: "Third Young Master, I think Her Royal Highness the Princess wants to open the wound on your ankle again." The old doctor seemed to be hesitant to say anything after saying this.

Gu Xinglang said: "Sir, if you have anything to say, just speak up."

The old doctor said, "The wound is getting better and better. It is healing. If you open the wound at this time, please forgive me for speaking frankly. If the wound becomes festered again, the worst result will be that your feet will be amputated, which will put your life in danger."

Gu Xinglang was silent for a moment. No one knew how good Princess Linglong's medical skills were, so he was taking a risk by doing this.

"Third Master," the old doctor said, "you should think twice."

"The princess won't hurt me," Gu Xinglang said to the old doctor calmly, "She wants to save me."

The old doctor shook his head. Since Gu Xinglang said so, there was no need to continue persuading him.

"Someone come here," Gu Xinglang shouted outside the bridal chamber.

A servant who served Gu Xinglang ran in from outside the bridal chamber.

"Go and ask my eldest brother to come over and tell him that I have something to say to him," Gu Xinglang instructed the servant.

The servant took the order and ran away. Not long after, Gu Xingnuo walked into the bridal chamber, reeking of alcohol. Looking at the layout of the bridal chamber, Young Master Gu asked suspiciously, "What are you doing?"

"Brother, have you drunk a lot of wine?" Gu Xinglang asked instead of answering.

Gu Xingnuo walked to the bed and said, "Those people in the army are all drunkards. They drink to death when they get the chance. Your second brother has almost finished drinking. What are you doing..."

Gu Xinglang didn't wait for Gu Xingnuo to ask any more questions and said, "Her Royal Highness the Princess wants to treat my injuries."

Gu Xingnuo stood there and thought about what Gu Xinglang said before he said, "What did you say?"

Gu Xinglang said: "Princess, please heal my wounds."

Gu Xingnuo was surprised at first, then happy, and asked, "How is Your Highness going to treat your injury?"

Gu Xinglang said, "I don't know. I asked you to come here just to tell you that if anything happens, it's my own fault and has nothing to do with Her Royal Highness the Princess."

To Gu Xingnuo, these words sounded like a last will. "Will this matter put your life in danger?" Young Master Gu asked, "How does she want to treat your injury?"

"The princess said she wanted to have surgery," said Gu Xinglang.

The old doctor then opened the lid of the pot.

The sharp knives in the boiling water made Gu Xingnuo feel cold all over. He asked, "What are you doing? Is the princess going to operate on you again?"

"I'm a useless person anyway," Gu Xinglang said nonchalantly, "Let the princess do whatever she wants."

"Brother is here?" Yu Xiaoxiao changed out of her wedding dress and walked into the bridal chamber in a neat outfit.

"I asked my eldest brother to come," Gu Xinglang said before Gu Xingnuo asked Yu Xiaoxiao, "This matter needs to be made known to the family."

Yu Xiaoxiao walked to the bed and said, "Okay, it's getting late, should I start now?"

"Your Highness," Gu Xingnuo said, "Can you first tell me how you are going to treat Xinglang's injury?"

Yu Xiaoxiao said simply: "Just connect the broken tendons and let them grow back on their own."

The old doctor asked, "Can broken tendons regenerate?"

"If bones can grow, why can't tendons grow?" Yu Xiao.

"How confident are you, Princess?" Gu Xingnuo asked Yu Xiaoxiao with concern.

"Brother," Gu Xinglang said, "The princess will do her best."

"Yes," Yu Xiaoxiao nodded to Gu Xingnuo and said, "Don't worry, brother. I will do my best."

Now it’s not a question of trying one’s best. Gu Xingnuo’s heart rate has stopped beating, and he wants to know if his third brother can still survive!

"Brother," Gu Xinglang called Gu Xingnuo again, with an undisguised pleading look in his expression.

Gu Xingnuo hesitated for a moment, bowed to Yu Xiaoxiao, and said, "Your Highness, I'll leave Xinglang in your hands."

Yu Xiaoxiao nodded. She didn't notice the emotional fluctuations between the Gu brothers at all. She turned her head and asked the old doctor, "Is the anesthetic ready?"

The old doctor picked up the anesthetic, which had cooled to warm temperature, from the table and handed it to Yu Xiaoxiao's hand.

"Drink it," Yu Xiaoxiao had no intention of feeding anyone medicine, so she put the medicine bowl in Gu Xinglang's hand.

After watching Gu Xinglang drink the anesthetic and fall asleep, Gu Xingnuo stood in the corridor outside the new house. The joyous sounds in the wedding hall in the front yard could still be heard clearly from here. Gu Xingnuo pinched his eyebrows, and his handsome face was full of worry. He didn't know how good the princess's medical skills were, but he knew that Gu Xinglang still had the intention of seeking death in his heart. His brother didn't want to drag down the princess and his family.

Gu Xingnuo punched the porch pillar, and then looked at Gu Xinglang lying on the bed, unable to move, with a pale face. He couldn't even say the words to ask for his younger brother to stay alive.

In the new house, the candlelight refracted through the mirror and focused on the wound on Gu Xinglang's ankle.

"How could this happen?" Several doctors looked at the sudden bright light and asked Yu Xiaoxiao in unison.

"The principle of refraction of light," Yu Xiao said.

What? No one in the room understood what he said.

Yu Xiaoxiao disinfected the wound carefully and cut it decisively.

Gu Xinglang couldn't possibly feel any pain while he was in a coma, but his brows were still furrowed.

An hour passed, then two hours, and the gongs and drums in the front yard stopped, and soon the noise stopped as well. As the starry night sky gradually darkened, an autumn rain began to fall in the second half of the night.

Gu Xingnuo was waiting anxiously in the corridor, but he didn't dare to push the door and go in to see what was going on.

An autumn wind suddenly blew, causing the leaves of two sycamore trees in the yard to fall. Gu Xingnuo tightened his collar as he watched the yellow leaves cover the ground in an instant.

At this moment, the old lady's voice came from outside the courtyard gate: "Xinglang!"

Gu Xingnuo thought to himself that something was wrong, and hurried down the stairs, walking up to the old lady in the rain.

Mrs. Xu, who was supporting the old lady, saw her eldest son and asked, "Did the princess really operate on Xing Lang?"

Gu Xingnuo glanced at his wife.

Madam Sun glanced at Qingyu who was following behind the old lady.

"Where's Xinglang?" The old lady continued to rush towards the bridal chamber.

"Grandma," Gu Xingnuo hurriedly chased after the old lady and said, "Xinglang is fine."

"Nothing?" the old lady said, "Why did you invite a room full of doctors?"

"It's because of Xinglang's injury," Gu Xingnuo whispered.

The old lady snorted coldly, looking at the new house with the lights on, and said, "If it's a good thing, do we need to hide it from our family?!"
