Just when everyone suspected that Her Royal Highness the Princess had chased the criminals out of Xuanhua Street, Er Gouzi shouted: "My Lord, there's a fire over there!"
Everyone looked in the direction of Er Gouzi's hand and saw thick smoke billowing out of a house at the back of the street at the south end.
The eldest boss immediately said, "Don't think about it, it must have been done by our princess." Murder and arson are the strengths of their princess.
Everyone ran towards the burning house.
The eldest boss ran a few steps and suddenly remembered something. He caught up with Gu Xinglang's horse and said, "Prince consort, please wait outside the alley for a while. The gang of thugs may have a second hiding place. As the saying goes, a rabbit has three burrows."
Gu Xinglang said: "That's called a cunning rabbit has three burrows."
The eldest boss said, "Yes, that's what I meant. Prince Consort, you still have to take charge of this overall situation, right? Just let us handle the murders and arson!"
Gu Xinglang was silent for a moment. The boss' words sounded nice, but was he actually afraid that his illness would relapse and kill people?
The eldest boss said, "My Lord, the princess is here, so why are you worried? I will take my brothers in to collect the bodies. I was thinking..."
"Got it," Gu Xinglang interrupted the boss and said, "I'll do as you say."
"Hey," the eldest boss immediately smiled and said, "Okay, don't worry, Prince Consort, I will definitely not let the princess get tired."
The soldiers who were close to Gu Xinglang all rolled their eyes at the leader. Would Her Royal Highness be tired? Wasn't this guy's flattery too fake?
When the group ran to the entrance of the alley where the burning house was, the people living in the alley ran out, carrying the elderly and children. Some people also carried basins and buckets to put out the fire. The houses in the alley were connected to each other, and if one house caught fire, the whole alley would soon be on fire.
Gu Xinglang stood at the entrance of the alley on horseback and gave orders to his men: "Gather everyone together and don't let them run around."
A lieutenant general received the order and waved his hand to his men.
How can the soldiers gather the people together? The only way is to arrest them.
The people were already frightened when they saw the fire, and when the officers and soldiers rushed in to arrest people, the situation quickly got out of control.
The noisy voices made Gu Xinglang feel uncomfortable immediately. While the scene in front of him was not yet completely covered by the red mist, Gu Xinglang used the Heart Purification Mantra. The pain instantly swept through his body again. Gu Xinglang groaned while sitting on the horse, then clenched his teeth and endured not shouting again. His drowsy mind became a little clearer.
"Prince consort?" Er Gouzi heard what the boss said and was now standing in front of Gu Xinglang's horse. When he heard Gu Xinglang snort, he turned around and asked.
Gu Xinglang waved to Er Gouzi, turned his horse's head, urged it on, and headed north.
Er Gouzi didn't understand what was going on, so he chased after Gu Xinglang, asking repeatedly, "My Lord, what's wrong with you?"
Gu Xinglang stopped his horse when he was a little further away from the alley where the shouting, cursing and crying were coming from. He said to Er Gouzi, "I'm going to take a look at the other end of the street and will be back soon." After saying this, Gu Xinglang urged his horse to go.
Er Gouzi was standing in the street in a daze. The prince consort just left like that? The princess was still fighting inside!
The boss and his gang rushed into the burning courtyard. In the house with two courtyards, the five rooms in the first courtyard were already on fire, while the houses in the second courtyard were temporarily safe.
"Dead man!" The second in command pointed at the northeast corner of the yard with one hand and shouted while covering his mouth and nose with the other hand.
The big boss followed the hand of the second in command and looked over. There were two people lying side by side under the eaves in the northeast corner. Smoke got into his eyes. The big boss raised his hand to rub his eyes that were about to tear up from the smoke. Then he looked again and shouted, "No, those two are still alive and fucking moving!"
Several former pirates rushed over and found that the two people on the ground were just unconscious. Their legs looked folded, so they must be broken.
"Put out the fire," the eldest boss stood in the middle of the yard and shouted to the second boss, "Second boss, take the people to put out the fire. Don't look back, the fire will burn us to death too!"
The second in command asked, "What about you?"
The eldest boss drew his sword and said, "I am taking people to see the princess, why is there no movement in the yard behind?!"
The first boss led a dozen of his brothers and ran to the second courtyard. The second boss looked at the fire in front of him, grabbed a former pirate and said loudly: "Go find the prince consort, we don't have enough people to put out the fire."
The brother nodded and rushed out again.
The second in command shouted to the brothers who stayed behind to put out the fire: "If you find anyone alive and can't catch them, just kill them."
The boss and his group rushed into the second courtyard and found that there didn't seem to be anyone in the backyard.
"Princess?" A former pirate standing in the yard shouted at the top of his lungs several times.
There was no other sound in the yard except the crackling of the fire in the front yard.
"Search," the boss ordered.
The eldest brother led his two brothers into the side room on the left side of the main house. Before they could see the room clearly, a brother shouted from the main house: "Big brother!"
The boss hurriedly took his two brothers to the main house. When they entered the main house, he saw a secret door that had been pushed open.
"Brother," the former pirate who had already entered the dark room shouted, "Come and see."
The boss ran into the secret room and saw by candlelight that the secret room was empty except for a dark tunnel entrance on the ground in the middle.
"The princess has gone down?" someone asked in a low voice.
The boss walked to the entrance of the tunnel. There was a dirt staircase leading all the way down. It was bottomless and no sound could be heard.
"Princess!" A brother lay at the entrance of the tunnel and shouted into the tunnel.
There was an echo in the tunnel, but there was no response from Yu Xiaoxiao.
The eldest boss said to one of his brothers, "Go and tell the Prince Consort what happened here."
The former pirate took off running.
The big boss clenched the knife handle tightly and said to his brothers: "Light the torch and let's go down."
Several people looked around for torches.
Soon, the former pirates found torches and, led by the leader, entered the tunnel one after another.
After walking for almost an incense stick of time, the boss found that he still couldn't see the bottom of the tunnel. He was worried. There was such a deep tunnel in Fengjing City. How much noise did it make when it was dug? Didn't it alarm others?
Water dripped on the boss's face. He wiped his face with his hand and felt the water was very sticky. He quickly put his hand under the torch to look, and then he found that what dripped on his face was blood.
The pirates in front held torches and looked towards the top of the tunnel, only to find that above their heads, a male corpse was nailed there by a sword, with only the hilt of the sword sticking out of the man's chest.
The eldest boss said, "The princess must be down there. Be careful, let's go down."
The tunnel was well ventilated. The boss took a few deep breaths and didn't smell any blood, but he couldn't hear any movement deep in the tunnel, which made his heart jump to his throat.
