There are many post houses and inns on both sides of the official road outside the north city of Fengjing. Jing Mo and his party did not stay in the post house, but spent money to book an inn that was not big and relatively remote.
Before Yu Xiaoxiao reached the inn, she saw Jing Mo wandering in the open space in front of the inn on the official road.
"Jing Mo," Yu Xiaoxiao waved at Jing Mo while sitting on the horse.
Jing Mo looked over and saw who it was. He immediately said to Yu Xiaoxiao, "Princess, come here quickly."
"Go," Gu Xinglang held the reins for Yu Xiaoxiao. Looking at Jing Mo's expression, he thought Wuhuan might be in bad condition.
Yu Xiaoxiao flew to Jing Mo's side, and before she could say anything, she heard Jing Mo say, "Princess, come with me."
Seeing Jing Mo walking quickly towards the inn, Yu Xiaoxiao frowned and asked, "Is Wu Huan not well?"
Jing Mo nodded and said, "Yes."
Yu Xiaoxiao pulled Jing Mo's hand and said, "Then why are you leaving? Tell me, which room Wu Huan lives in."
There were guards standing inside and outside the inn, and every door was closed. There were obviously many people there, but the whole inn was silent amid the chirping of night insects, as if there was no one there.
There were only four upper rooms in the inn, and the one Wuhuan lived in was at the end of the corridor on the second floor.
Yu Xiaoxiao walked to the door, stretched out her hand and pushed it open. She did not smell the bloody smell as she had imagined. Instead, as the door opened, a smell of rotting meat rushed towards her.
"The Jing Qian who competed with me for the throne is a fake," Jing Mo and Yu Xiaoxiao stood in front of the bed and whispered to Yu Xiaoxiao: "I don't know what it means to pretend to be Jing Qian. The national teacher said that he was a person who practiced evil magic and wore Jing Qian's skin. (')"
Yu Xiaoxiao lifted the quilt to look at Wuhuan's injuries and said, "Damn, there's a skinless monster over there too?"
Jing Mo said: "Have you also encountered such a thing?"
Yu Xiao: "Yes, I have met them. There are three of them imprisoned in my house. The Taoist priest also said that they are people who practiced some kind of evil magic. He said that they are immortal, but they have to change into human skin every once in a while."
Jing Mo didn't have time to ask more questions at this moment, and said to Yu Xiaoxiao: "The State Master blocked the monster's palm for me. If it weren't for the State Master, I would have died."
Wuhuan was not wearing a shirt, and his entire upper body was wrapped in gauze. The white gauze was soaked with pus and blood. Without the quilt to block it, the rotten smell was even more suffocating.
Jing Mo said: "He was hit on the chest by the monster. He was fine at the time, but after a night, his chest looked festering. The doctor told me that he was poisoned, but I don't know what the poison was."
Yu Xiaoxiao began to remove the gauze quickly.
Jing Mo continued, "His injuries suddenly worsened the day before yesterday. Originally it was just one area on his chest, but the day before yesterday his entire upper body began to fester. I had no choice but to rush here with him on horseback."
Yu Xiaoxiao glanced at Wuhuan's face without the mask.
Jing Mo said: "He couldn't breathe, so I took off his mask."
Yu Xiao: "I've always said that I want to help him heal the wound on his face."
Jing Mo pulled Yu Xiaoxiao's sleeve and said, "Princess, can you save his life?" Whether Wuhuan's face was handsome or ugly, it didn't matter to Jing Mo at all. What Jing Mo cared about was Wuhuan's life.
Yu Xiaoxiao didn't say anything and took off the gauze wrapped around Wuhuan. Wuhuan's upper body, which had been completely rotten and with no intact skin, appeared in front of Yu Xiaoxiao.
Jing Mo said: "If this continues, he will die of festering all over his body sooner or later."
Yu Xiao: "He just got slapped?"
Jing Mo nodded.
"And what about that monster?"
"I was burned at the stake by order of the Imperial Master."
"It's dead," Yu Xiao said, "Have you seen the monster's hands?"
“There’s no skin, just a pile of red meat,” Jingmo said.
Yu Xiaoxiao placed the medical kit she brought with her on the bed, took out a scalpel, disinfected it, and pricked a boil on Wuhuan's body. A large stream of red and yellow pus and blood flowed out of the boil, and through the hole in the boil, Yu Xiaoxiao could even see Wuhuan's ribs.
Jing Mo said: "Princess, can you save him?"
"Clean the wound and disinfect," Yu Xiao said, "Do the routine treatment first. For details, I will ask the three monsters in my house. Since they are all monster friends, they should know what is going on with Wuhuan."
Jing Mo said: "Shall I ask the doctor to come and help you?"
"No need," Yu Xiao said, "Wu Huan doesn't want too many people to see his face, right?"
Jing Mo sighed heavily. Whenever the doctor came to see Wu Huan, he would cover Wu Huan's face with a handkerchief. "My imperial physician here used the best medicine for his wounds, but now it seems that it has no effect on his injuries."
Yu Xiao: "We can't keep his rotten skin any longer." The necrotic skin must be dealt with as soon as possible. Wuhuan's condition worsened. Yu Xiaoxiao thought that it was probably because the doctors wanted to save Wuhuan's skin as much as possible and did not dare to remove large pieces of skin.
Jing Mo said: "The imperial physician told me that without skin, the Imperial Master would die faster."
Yu Xiaoxiao also sighed. In a world where there is nothing to do with infection, both patients and doctors are miserable. The production method of penicillin has been made public, but Yu Xiaoxiao has not heard of any country that has produced penicillin, let alone allowing the antibiotic family to be imported.
"Prepare some hot water," Yu Xiaoxiao said to Jing Mo, "I'll clean Wuhuan's wound first."
Jing Mo nodded, turned around and walked quickly out of the room.
Yu Xiaoxiao sat in front of Wuhuan's bed, listening to Jing Mo standing in the corridor and ordering the guards to bring hot water.
Wuhuan's tightly closed eyes moved slightly, opening a small gap.
Yu Xiaoxiao hurriedly called out in a low voice: "Wu Huan?"
Master Wuhuan forced his eyes open and looked at Yu Xiaoxiao. He moved his lips after a long time and it seemed from his mouth shape that he was calling "Princess".
Yu Xiao: "Don't say anything if you can't speak. Wu Huan, don't be afraid. I'm here. I will heal your wounds."
Wuhuan Imperial Master closed his eyes again, and after a while he suddenly opened them, and said to Yu Xiao breathlessly: "Mo Wen, the instrument that controls the Prince Consort is a copper bell."
Yu Xiaoxiao took out a string of wind chimes from her belt and said to Wuhuan, "Is this it?"
Wu Huan even felt pain in breathing at this moment, but after seeing the two small copper bells strung between the wind chimes, Wu Huan's body still trembled slightly and asked in astonishment: "How, how could it be?"
Yu Xiao: "It's a long story to tell about this terrible thing."
"Princess?" Gu Xinglang's voice came from outside the door.
Yu Xiaoxiao put the wind chime back into her belt and replied, "It's here."
Wu Huan used up all his strength, raised his hand and grabbed Yu Xiaoxiao's hand, whispering: "Don't think about this copper bell, don't let the prince consort hear its sound, it can't save him."
