Chapter 100 Recovery

After coming out of the basement, Zhuo Qiang did not take her back to the courtyard, but arranged for her to live in an apartment in the city. He also arranged a chef, a nanny, and a bodyguard for her.

A private doctor came to her home almost every two days for treatment, and her life became regular.

After about half a year, through a combination of physical, medical, and psychological treatment, she was able to establish long-term memory, gradually develop self-awareness, and start a simple life.

She began to get involved in social activities, worked in Zhuo Qiang's company, and became the company's manager.

"Manager Ouyang!" The secretary brought over some documents. "The chairman wants you to go to his office."

She put down one of the documents, glanced at it for a few seconds, then stood up and walked towards the top floor office. During the six months of treatment, Zhuo Qiang came to her apartment to visit her almost every week. In her eyes, Zhuo Qiang was like a family member, not a superior-subordinate relationship.

Outside the office, the chairman's secretary took her in and saw a silhouette sitting on the sofa.

Zhuo Qiang looked at Ouyang Zishan's performance in the past few weeks. He didn't expect that she had gradually recovered and could easily do this job.

"Mr. Zhuo!"

"Ouyang, didn't I tell you? When there are no outsiders around, you should still call me Uncle Zhuo."

"Uncle Zhuo? What do you want to talk to me about?" Ouyang Zishan looked at the documents on his desk, which contained the performance report of her department.

"Have a seat!" Zhuo Qiang knew she was smart and nothing escaped her notice. "Well, our company is planning to develop a new real estate project, and I'd like you to take it over."

"Real estate?" She blinked. She had mostly been working in restaurants and hotels recently, and now she was asked to work in real estate. "Uncle Zhuo, I still think my current job is more suitable for me. You should find someone else to handle the real estate business."

"Don't be so quick to reject it," Zhuo Qiang handed her the new real estate plan. "You've always wanted to explore the world, right? This is a great opportunity."

She then discovered that the newly developed real estate was in the southwest, which meant she could take advantage of this opportunity to go out and see the scenery. This was indeed a temptation for her.

The secretary brought in coffee and said something to Zhuo Qiang. He waved his hand and signaled the secretary to leave.

"How is it?" Zhuo Qiang asked, "The scenery over there is really nice, and it's also a good place to cultivate one's character."

Ouyang Zishan couldn't figure out his purpose. If he wanted her to work on a new project, why did he say it was a good place to cultivate one's character? Was there something he didn't want to tell her? "Uncle Zhuo, it's a good place, I can go, but you have to tell me why you sent me there?"

"Uncle is in Chongqing. He has a friend. When the time comes, you can go visit them on his behalf."

"Why don't you go yourself?"

"I have some other things to do at the company," he stood up and prepared to leave. "I have a meeting later." Just as he turned around, "By the way, you must attend the banquet tonight."

"Got it!" Ouyang Zishan finished organizing the documents and returned to her office. She pulled an invitation from a drawer. The evening's banquet was being hosted by a leading restaurant company. She had visited one of their restaurants last time and had found both the service and the food to be excellent. Furthermore, since her company had a partnership with them, she absolutely had to attend.

She left work early, changed into an evening gown, and drove to the hotel entrance. It looked like there were quite a few guests tonight. The doorman took her keys and drove off. Entering the banquet hall, she looked around. The theme this time was hotel development and investment. Seeing quite a few people heading in the direction of Zhuo Qiang, it seemed this leading restaurant company was also considering transitioning into hotels, or perhaps real estate.

As she was studying these various businessmen, a man walked up to her.

"Ouyang Zishan?"

Ouyang Zishan looked up at the man. He looked quite tall and about the same age as himself. A smile played on his face. "Hello! Who are you?"

The other party was not surprised, but just smiled and said: "Xia Yue, I didn't expect to meet you here."

"Xia Yue?" She took the glass of red wine he handed her, wondering how he knew her name. "Thank you."

Zhuo Qiang looked in the direction of Ouyang Zishan and continued talking to those people.

Xia Yue also noticed Zhuo Qiang and looked at Ouyang Zishan: "Do you work at Zhuo Corporation?"

"Yeah." She nodded.

"No wonder, even my brother couldn't find you."

Ouyang Zishan was confused by what he said and was about to turn around and leave when he was attracted by the melodious sound of a piano. A beam of light shone on a piano in the hall, and the pair of slender fingers looked so dazzling.

Xia Yue was standing behind her and she noticed Jin Lu.

The song gradually ended, and Jin Lu looked at her, which made her heart beat inexplicably. It was an indescribable feeling. She seemed to be under a spell by the song and stood still.

She realized her mistake and adjusted her gaze.

"He is my brother, Jin Lu."

Jin Lu, Jin Lu, Jin Lu? This name lingered in her mind, giving her a familiar feeling.

"Really?" She tried her best not to let the other person notice her change. "I think I've heard of this name. He's a pianist?"

"He is indeed a pianist." Xia Yue drank the wine and grabbed Ouyang Zishan's hand.

Her hand was held tightly by him, and no matter how hard she struggled, she couldn't break free. Jin Lu's forward steps slowed down, and he was stopped by the people next to him, and began to listen to the endless compliments from the others.
