Chapter 104: Not Suicide

Ouyang felt that there was no point in staying here, so he and Dongya went downstairs first and waited for them in the car.

But later neither of them came down, so Fenwu sent them a message and asked them to go back first.

"I don't know if anything will happen to them." Dong Ya was worried.

Ouyang didn't tell him that Linglong had actually fallen in love with the man named Guo Ling, and that they were the same kind of people. Fenwu was reluctant to leave the hospital because he actually wanted to prove his position in Linglong's heart.

In the past few days, Linglong only came back a few times to get clothes, and Fenwu also came back drunk every day. They didn't see each other. Without Linglong to cook at home, Dongya took on the responsibility of being the chef.

Fenwu gradually stopped talking to them. Once, he came back very late and saw the two of them in the living room. He said, "It seems I should leave too."

When Ouyang woke up the next day, he found that Fenwu and Linglong had left the basement with their belongings and left letters for them. Ouyang opened Linglong's letter and saw the following:

Ouyang, I really want to thank you here. You know, you didn't just save Guo Ling, you saved me too. Before, I didn't know what love or home were. Now I know that being with the one you love is home. I don't want designer clothes or bags; what I want is something simple: true love.

Dongya, you're the most honest man I've ever met. I believe your dreams will come true one day. After spending so much time together, you've grown disenchanted with the constraints of home and decided to live with us in this tiny basement. Perhaps you don't even realize it, but you bring boundless energy to those around you. Just like the first time I met you, you were so kind and friendly.

Ouyang, Dongya, please don't miss me. As for Fenwu, I can only say sorry. Tell him for me that I hope he won't be sad because of me.

Then, she opened the letter from Fenwu. The contents were very simple:

Ouyang, Dongya, I'm leaving. Maybe I won't be back for a long time, or maybe I won't come back for the rest of my life. Don't worry about me.

Dongya also read the two letters and sighed: "Now it's just the two of us?"

"It seems so."

Ouyang didn't expect that the relationship between them would be so fragile. Because of the appearance of a strange man and an inexplicable love, they lost their two best friends.

Spring has passed and summer has arrived, but the basement doesn't seem hot. Instead, it's cold and deserted, making people feel a little uncomfortable.

Ouyang knocked on the study door: "Dongya, are you okay?" He had locked himself in the study for a whole day. Apart from drinking water and eating, he hardly talked to himself.

"It's okay!" He opened the door and came out, "I'm just a little uncomfortable."

"How about going out for a walk?" Ouyang didn't want him to suffer from depression because of the departure of his two friends.

"Can."

During their walk, Dongya told her that he had been studying software programs in his study these days. This made Ouyang feel relieved, as she had been worried that he would pack up and leave.

"Will you leave?" Dongya asked.

"Where can I go if I leave here?" she said. "Didn't we say we would fulfill your wish together? We're still a long way from that."

"Haha," Dongya smiled, "It's okay if you can't change the name. Besides, everyone knows that the system was left to you by your mother. It doesn't matter whether you change it or not."

She thought for a moment and said, "Do you care about the name of the system or using the 'Miss Detective' ID? Actually, if you want, you can create a new ID yourself, right?"

"I didn't think so," he said. "In fact, the ID 'Miss Detective' has long been ingrained in most people's minds. I just feel that since we already have so many talented people in the system, why don't we make proper use of them and establish a new system? It's not so much about changing the name, but more about wresting back the right to speak from JO, Yu, and other detectives who are unconstrained by any system. You've never paid attention to things online, and you don't know how powerful the network is now. Now that the whole world is connected through the network, those profit-driven detectives are starting to seek their own benefits. Remember what happened last time in Xinrong Building? Those illegal personnel wanted to exploit JO's power in the system and gain a say. This way, they can evade numerous investigations and use the various resources within the system to commit crimes."

"Is it that serious?" Ouyang always thought that this system was designed to bring together people with the same hobbies, but he didn't expect there would be such a loophole.

"Do you want to see it?" Dongya said, sending a message on her phone. When they passed the subway station, a stranger gave Ouyang a bouquet of flowers with a greeting card on it. The card said: Go to the cafe.

They walked along the front, and just in front of the cafe, a boy on a skateboard bumped into her and put a key in her pocket with the address and house number written on it.

They walked further and came to a residential complex. Standing in front of a door, Ouyang took out the key and successfully opened the door. There was no one in the house, so they quickly left.

As soon as she got downstairs, a girl took the key from her hand, walked in another direction, took a man's hand, put the key back into the man's trouser pocket, and left talking and laughing.

Ouyang looked at Dongya: "What have you done?"

"That's the power of the system," he said, leading her away. "This network of relationships was established by your mother. Initially, it was to facilitate investigations, but later, more and more people joined the system and gained the trust of those within it. Because the ID "Miss Detective" possesses the most original data, she possesses considerable resources, but we can't ignore those with ambitions. They are exploiting this vast network of trust to do things you wouldn't expect."
