Chapter 131 The Hut

Ouyang was busy taking care of Zhuo Qiang and had no time to spend with Mu Jiang, so he had to go find Xia Yue. Soon, the two of them became close friends who could talk about anything. No one expected them to become such close friends.

Seeing that Mu Jiang was so interested in her farm, Xia Yue found a time to take him to see it. During the visit, Mu Jiang saw a different Xia Yue.

Because of Chongqing's unique topography, Mu Jiang's farm is built right before the hills, creating natural streams and slopes between them. Two hours outside the city, they entered another remote town. About ten minutes further out, they found themselves on a newly paved asphalt road. A signpost reading "Shan Yan" stood on the right side. Villagers' houses, a variety of colors, dotted the roadside. This hilly landscape was a refreshing experience for Mu Jiang. Simply put, this place boasts mountains and water, a lush green even in winter. Along the roadside, villagers tended their fields.

After traversing the hills, they soon encountered a completely different scene. They arrived at Shanyan Farm. Upon entering the farm, the first thing they saw was the vegetable greenhouses below the road.

"See those greenhouses down there?" Xia Yue said, "That's the first thing I did when I came here. They use completely facility cultivation, and even in winter, they can grow vegetables and fruits you can't imagine, and even flowers." His face was full of radiance as he spoke.

In the distance of what he called the facility cultivation, there was a wide and flat open space, where several horses were walking preferentially.

"You also have horses?"

"I have a few horses, all purebreds, very delicate," he smiled again, "and after the New Year I plan to buy a few donkeys, they can help with the work."

"And let them have some mules?"

"It's not impossible." Xia Yue joked.

Soon, the car stopped beside a lotus pond. Mu Jiang followed him out and saw the withered lotus stems in the pond. He could only imagine how beautiful it must be in summer. Looking closer, he saw what looked like a few children on the wooden promenade above the pond. He couldn't tell what they were playing, but their laughter broke the silence.

Xia Yue took out the snacks from the car and called out to the children, asking them to come over and get some food. When the children heard this, they stepped on the wood on the lotus pond, making creaking sounds, and soon ran over.

"Thank you, Uncle Xia!" The child was very polite, but he just didn't know Mu Jiang who was standing next to him.

Mu Jiang felt a little uncomfortable with their stares, so he introduced himself: "My name is Mu Jiang."

"Hello, Brother Mu!" the children shouted in unison.

"They are my brothers?" Xia Yue was obviously unhappy. This was confusing his generations.

The children did not answer, but left with their things, smiling. This time they did not stay on the wooden bridge, but boarded two small boats on the lotus pond, as if to show off their superb skills to the newcomer Mu Jiang.

Looking from the lotus pond to the south on the hillside, a modern-style building stands there, with some white light shining on the glass.

"That's our hotel!" Xia Yue didn't elaborate. "There are two hillsides covered with pine trees. We designed modern buildings on each hillside to cater to the lives of city dwellers."

In reality, Xia Yue doesn't just run a farm; he also leverages various resources to provide a leisure and vacation destination for city dwellers. He's doing a remarkable job in this regard, even hiring someone to manage the hotel. Their staff quarters can be seen not far from the lotus pond. The dormitory is a three-story building, with the staff cafeteria and farm restaurant on the first floor, small guest rooms on the second floor, and staff housing on the third floor.

"I don't care much about the hotel," Xia Yue took him along the road, away from these overly urbanized places.

Mu Jiang followed behind him, leisurely enjoying the scenery here.

Entering the depths of the village, Xia Yue led him into a house that looked very "unmodern." There was a square-like area at the door with some unknown flowers blooming inside.

It was a two-story blue brick and glazed tile house facing north and south, and its shape was somewhat similar to the houses in the Jiangnan region.

Upon entering, there was a small hall, flanked by rosewood chairs with intricate carvings. On the walls hung calligraphy and paintings by a master, whose works Mu Jiang was unaware of. To the east of the hall was a small tea room, and to the west was a study. The second floor above the hall was used for book storage.

Looking up, I saw a door separated by a circular archway, revealing an empty hall. Inside the rectangular hall sat a stone fish tank with floating green plants. To the south was the main hall, used for dining. A round wooden table could seat a dozen people.

On either side of the hall are the residences. The east-facing residence is somewhat unique: a dressing room on the lower level and a women's room above. It's clear the designer put a lot of thought into the design. Each room has floor-to-ceiling windows facing the hall, giving it a modern feel.

To the west of the hall is the living room, with a simple sofa and TV. A door leads outside to a small open area, likely used as a small garden. The second floor also houses the living room, but it's more modern, with a projector and other high-tech equipment. The kitchen and bathroom are both to the east. The first-floor kitchen is spacious and bright, with a small dining table. The first-floor restroom is located outside the restroom and houses two washing machines. Both the first- and second-floor bathrooms have bathtubs.

"How was it?" Xia Yue asked after the tour. "You'll stay in the small room on the second floor tonight. The window there overlooks the bamboo forest outside."
