Chapter 132: Rock Farm

"Focus on fishing."

"Are you really so willing to listen to your mother's orders?" Mu Jiang was not like him. "If it were me, I wouldn't care what my mother thinks. This is my lifelong business."

"It's not that simple."

"That's right," Mu Jiang put down his fishing rod and looked at him. "Ouyang is such an arrogant woman, but she's willing to listen to your mother. There must be some secret. Tell me about it, maybe I can help you."

"Ouyang is grateful to my mother. After all, it was my mother who raised her," Xia Yue paused for a moment. "Plus, the Jinlu Gang has found her biological parents before. Therefore, no matter what they say, Ouyang nods and agrees."

"Then why didn't Jin Lu just propose directly?" Mu Jiang thought this was a ridiculous explanation. In his opinion, Ouyang wouldn't give up on him because of these things. There must be other reasons. "If he proposed, wouldn't Ouyang agree according to your words?"

Xia Yue looked into his eyes and felt that the fire in Mu Jiang's eyes was too similar to her former self, who simplified everything: "As long as Ouyang keeps his distance from my brother, my brother will never do this."

"You guys are just too emotional. Is this why everyone is here?" Mu Jiang couldn't stand it any longer. "I'll have a good talk with Ouyang tonight. She can't continue to be so confused."

Ouyang followed Jin Lu in the bamboo forest. Sometimes she wondered why a man whose mind was so obsessed with art would fall in love with her. She didn't understand the meaning of art, and sometimes she even felt an immense dislike for art that didn't quite make sense. This was why she didn't like staying in her grandfather's study; it was simply too boring for her.

"What do you think of this tree?" Jin Lu, who was walking in front, stopped and asked Ouyang behind him.

"Not bad," Ouyang glanced at it, "this is it."

Jin Lu picked up a hoe and removed the surrounding bamboo leaves and soil bit by bit, revealing the lush bamboo shoots.

"Snap!" A fresh bamboo shoot came into his hand, and then he handed it to Ouyang and asked her to put it in the basket.

Based on their previous experience, the two people found a lot of bamboo shoots.

"Puff!" Ouyang, who was walking behind, accidentally fell down a steep slope, and all the bamboo shoots in the basket fell out.

Jin Ruo immediately ran down the ramp upon hearing the sound and caught Ouyang who was rolling on the ground: "Are you okay?" Fortunately, the area around her was covered with bamboo leaves, like a thick blanket, so she was not injured, but her hair was full of bamboo branches and fragments. Jin Ruoxiang helped her remove the debris, but she came out of his arms, sat aside and took care of her hair by herself. Her absence had made him numb. He stood up and put the bamboo shoots back into the basket, then sat beside her: "I will explain everything between us to my mother, so that she won't always let you be with me."

Ouyang stopped and looked at a vegetable garden in the distance. "Don't make it difficult for her. At your age, it's normal for your godmother to be anxious. I heard from your godfather that your godmother introduced you to several girls who studied painting and music. Did you not like any of them?"

"They're not suitable for me," Jin Lu said, "and maybe no one is suitable for me anymore."

Ouyang felt that her words were directed at him. If her illness hadn't healed, he might have become his wife long ago. But now that she was well, she knew that she and he were not the same kind of people. His integrity and kindness were something she could never reach, nor was it something she should ever reach. Moreover, he couldn't touch her life either. He wouldn't understand what she truly wanted. Perhaps even she didn't know what she wanted.

"It's better to find a woman," Jin Lu said, "so that my godmother and godfather won't worry."

"Do you really want me to get married?"

"Hope." This way she wouldn't have any moral pressure, and wouldn't feel guilty when she returned to her godmother and godfather.

"What if it was Xia Yue? Would you advise him the same way?"

"Xia Yue?" Ouyang looked at him, "What does this have to do with him?"

"Can't you see why he set up this farm?" Jin Lu wanted to see her feelings for Xia Yue in her eyes. "He decorated the room, raised your favorite horse, and even your favorite Xia Huanhua. Don't you see all this?"

Ouyang was numb in the face of love. She didn't know what love was, nor how to give her love. She just listened to what Jin Lu said, feeling more and more guilty towards her godmother and godfather. Why did she have to endure two wrong loves at the same time?

"He doesn't want to go home because of me?"

Jin Lu saw the despair in her eyes, something that should not have appeared in her eyes at that time: "This is his own choice." He didn't want to continue hurting her already very fragile heart. He was afraid that if he told her that he and Xia Yue were no longer brothers like before, their parents had been worried about them because of the competition between them.

As the sun set, they slowly walked back to their residence along the road. They happened to run into Xia Yue and Mu Jiang, who were returning from the other direction, both carrying their rich harvest.

"That's perfect," Mu Jiang handed all the things to Xia Yue's phone, "Ouyang, accompany me to the greenhouse. I want to pick some strawberries."

Ouyang didn't want to go back at this time, she wanted to be alone and quiet.

"Let's go." She observed Jin Lu and Xia Yue. They seemed to have not said much to each other and seemed to have their own thoughts.

In the greenhouse, Mu Jiang picked a few beautiful strawberries and stuffed them into his mouth: "They are really good, you should try them too."
