Four hours later, they arrived at a vast northern grassland. The simple building next to the yurt was the place they were looking for. Ouyang drove to a small restaurant on the other side. Perhaps it was nearing dusk, but there were quite a few people dining here. A roasted whole lamb or two and a jar of wine were quickly gulped down. Wang Xin observed the people here. There were only one or two women. And everyone seemed to be observing them. It did seem a little strange that a man and a woman were here.
The boss came over and greeted them: "What would you like to eat?"
Wang Xin looked at the menu. He didn't expect that such a remote place would have such a wide selection of delicious dishes. "One roasted lamb leg, one stir-fried shredded pork, and one hot soup." The grassland must be very cold at night. "And a pot of wine."
"Okay." The other party spoke in the local dialect, which Ouyang did not understand.
The people around them seemed genuinely interested in them, watching them and discussing them nonsensically. Among them were a few men speaking Mandarin, drinking and muttering, "This awful weather is killing us."
"We have to travel at night soon, so drink less."
"I know." A man stood up and walked into the kitchen, bringing out a bag of mutton. "Let's go back. This meat is enough for them to drink."
The dishes they ordered were quickly served, and Ouyang ate intently. As the others passed by, they glanced at her, seemingly having not seen such a beautiful woman in a long time, their mouths constantly making tut-tut sounds.
But when Wang Xin looked up, he scared them back.
"Didn't you see the man next to someone else?" someone asked. "Why are you staring at him?"
"When I return to the city, I will also find a woman as beautiful as her."
"Just dream your dream."
After dinner, the wind outside started to pick up. The two sat in the car, as if waiting for something.
"Those people in the restaurant are a little strange."
"Yeah!" She responded, but still closed her eyes to rest, as she still had a long way to go.
"What are you waiting for here?" Wang Xin had no idea what her plan was, but he felt something was amiss with the small brick building nearby. But he was alone now, unable to go up and confirm the situation. He could only ask Ouyang, who seemed to know everything, for some information.
"See for yourself!"
Look for yourself? He could only see the shabby house and nothing else. Besides, it was already dark, so how could he see? "Just tell me, is the thing inside?"
"Yes!" she answered readily.
"Why didn't you say it earlier?" Wang Xin was very angry. He hated people who kept things in suspense the most. These people always killed others because of their cleverness.
"It's not too late to tell me now!"
Wang Xin was about to leave when he saw a van emerge with what appeared to be three other people inside. After they were a bit further away, Ouyang started the car and said, "You can get out now." If he just wanted to find these warehouses, she had already done that for him.
"What are you doing?" Wang Xin asked, not knowing her true purpose. "Is there a bomb in the car that just passed by?"
Ouyang looked at him and said, "There's enough stuff in that warehouse for you to show off in front of your boss."
Wang Xin felt that she had something else in mind, so he didn't get out of the car: "I'll send someone over."
"I'm afraid there won't be a chance after tonight." The fact that they would transport things overnight meant that they knew about the other warehouses and were probably busy moving things.
"You!" Wang Xin was speechless. On one hand, he had been investigating the dangerous warehouse for a month, and on the other hand, there was a certain temptation from this woman, making it difficult for him to make a decision.
"Get out of the car!" she said again.
Wang Xin opened the door and then closed it: "Let's go." He had no choice.
The car quickly set off and soon saw the van they had met. As for the fact that they were heading towards the city, Ouyang was a little worried. If they really wanted to kill someone in a public place, then she would have no control over it. Now she had to know where these people would appear on the third day.
Ouyang's car was getting faster and faster and had already surpassed the van in front.
"They will find out if you do this," said Wang Xin.
Sure enough, the cars behind them started changing routes. She thought, even if they knew where these people were going now, or the next day, and successfully stopped them, they might still have someone else deliver their things to their designated location. That way, the delivery person would change, but the things would definitely be delivered to their designated location.
A short while later, a black truck blocked Ouyang's way. Four tall northern men got out and shouted, "Get out!"
These people are indeed very cautious, and they have escorts.
Ouyang Wangxin got out of the car and was tied up with ropes. They found a gun on Wangxin. "Are you a police officer?" His eyes were more alert. "Good fellow, you're really fast. Coming all the way from the north, I couldn't catch up with you."
How could he possibly catch up? This guy took a roundabout route, while they took a straight line and leisurely admired the scenery.
"Knowing that it was the police, why would you dare to arrest me?"
"You're the one we're arresting," the tall man said, kicking him in the stomach. "Do you know how much money you've cost us in just one day? And you still have the nerve to call yourself a police officer?"
The tall man stood in front of Ouyang: "Where is this woman's gun?"
