Chapter 18 Xiaoxue

Within a day of posting her assistant recruitment information on the website, people were pouring in. She was a little dizzy with the variety of people she met in the cafe, and after rejecting the remaining applicants, she decided to take the initiative.

She went to the university, but this time, she was greeted by Mu Zi'an, not Lu Yang. Upon hearing they were looking for a detective assistant, he immediately took her to several dormitories to meet a strange man. His name was Ma Yiming, and he was a top student in the Department of Biological Sciences, but he had a quirk: he loved studying people. When Mu Zi'an brought her to see him, he was chasing after his roommates, demanding their blood. Mu Zi'an told her not to misunderstand, as he only wanted 20 milliliters of their blood for research.

"Zi'an, have you made your offering?"

"I gave you twenty liters of blood yesterday, and you haven't recovered yet." He pushed Mu Zishan in front of him and said, "Let me introduce you to my sister, Mu Zishan."

He wore glasses, which made his eyes look very small. He saw Mu Zishan clearly and joked, "Sure enough, you're not born from the same mother. Her genes are obviously better than yours."

Mu Zi'an wasn't angry, instead he laughed at him: "Your genes aren't that good either."

In her eyes, Ma Yiming was like a madman living in another world. He didn't know any skills to communicate with others and was ridiculed everywhere.

No matter how strange he behaved, Mu Zi'an praised him as a friend to the skies. After careful observation, she realized he was indeed a suitable candidate.

"By the way, my sister is a private detective," Mu Zi'an raised his eyebrows, "ask her to treat us to a meal later. Put these things away quickly."

He seemed to be interested. He put the things in his hands back in place and followed Mu Zi'an: "I know a good place."

He chose a Japanese restaurant, which was indeed suitable for conversation. At first, they just talked about science and art, and later mentioned her years abroad, which she only mentioned in a euphemism.

In the end, the result of the discussion was that he was only willing to cooperate as a friend and was unwilling to be anyone's assistant. She admired this character of his.

Mu Zi'an also recommended a girl named Xiaoxue who could speak more than a dozen foreign languages. She had slightly sunken eyes, yellow skin, a thin figure, and had translated several books.

"How did you two meet?" Mu Zishan asked.

Mu Zi'an chuckled and said, "I almost bumped into her when I was riding my bike to school last time."

Mu Zishan looked at the girl in the white skirt. She had a pair of charming eyes. It was not difficult to see that Mu Zian was targeting her.

"Being my assistant is very free. You can come when you have time," she wrote the address and phone number on a napkin and placed it in front of her, "But don't bring Mu Zi'an with you when you come." She got up and left.

"Sister!" Mu Zi'an was a little angry and mumbled something.

Xiaoxue was a very dedicated assistant. No matter how busy she was, she would always visit Muzishan, carefully helping her organize various files and receiving and replying to emails. Perhaps because of her friendly and kind attitude, the aunt at the courtyard liked her very much and always asked her to bring back small cakes.

Lu Yang woke up in the morning and saw the flowers on the living room table. He asked, "These flowers look quite fresh."

Zhuo Qiang pointed at Mu Zishan and said, "She found an assistant, who is also our junior schoolmate. She comes every day and brings a different bouquet of flowers every time."

"Her family runs a flower shop." Mu Zishan said.

"No wonder!" Zhuo Qiang shrugged.

Lu Yang has been very busy recently. He hasn't been back for almost a week. Naturally, he doesn't know about some subtle changes, but he can feel that there is a new connection between Mu Zishan and Zhuo Qiang.

Mu Zishan's cell phone rang. It was a message from her "spy" that the person the customer was looking for showed up at the Real Days Hotel.

"Auntie, have my clothes been ironed?" Mu Zishan asked.

"Okay, in your room." Auntie replied as she brought in freshly baked bread.

"Thank you." She went back to her room, changed her clothes, and immediately drove to the hotel. She had been investigating this person for a long time and finally got a clue.

After driving to the bottom of the Dao Hotel, she sat in the lobby and got the news that he had just returned from the UK. As long as she found the room where he was staying and sent it to the client along with the photo, the mission would be completed. Lunch time came, and the man went to the hotel restaurant wearing sunglasses. She followed him and sat opposite him. When he had eaten and drunk his fill and got on the elevator to go back to his room, she followed closely behind him, and he walked behind her consciously. There were only two rooms here, which meant that he was in one of them, and he was behind her, so that should be the room behind her. In order not to arouse his suspicion, she knocked on the door in front: "Dear!" Before the sound of the door behind her opened, she put her hand on his neck and pushed him in.

She opened the door again and saw the man enter the room, took out his phone, leaned against the wall, and sent a message: "Ok!"

She didn't notice that the owner of the room was staring at her: "I didn't expect we would meet in this way." He moved slightly closer.

Mu Zishan looked up. The man had a slight beard, but his face shape and voice told her that she seemed to have seen him somewhere before. The two of them leaned against the wall and looked at each other. He was wearing a high-end suit, a famous watch on his wrist, and had a magnetic voice.

"You've returned home." Her memory was not bad, but she didn't expect to meet her neighbor in the UK in this way.

"Just got back," he looked her up and down, "Come in and sit down."

Although they hadn't interacted much abroad, it was like meeting an old friend in a foreign land. That night, they talked a lot about the UK. He also mentioned that he moved out after she left, and the landlord complained that she left without a word, without even saying goodbye.

She also talked about what happened after she returned to China, including her brother's death, how she came to Beijing from her hometown, and how she met him here.

As the conversation wore on into the evening, he said he wasn't planning on returning to England and left her his contact information. Upstairs in the hotel, he watched his car disappear.

After she left, a man walked in from another room in the corridor: "Master, the money for Mu Zishan has been transferred."

"I see." He looked at the lights in the distance. "Where does she live now?"

"She lives at 124 Jiying Street."

Xiaoxue had arranged for her to meet with several important clients over the weekend and had given her some detailed information. She had now successfully taken over those "spies" and was using their resources to obtain useful information.

A loud noise came from the north study, startling Xiaoxue. She picked up the fallen documents and stood up to look outside. Lu Yang and Zhuo Qiang came out of the north study, nagging her with words she couldn't quite understand.

"You go back first!" said Mu Zishan.

"OK."

As they entered the living room, Mu Zishan understood the reason for their argument. They had accepted a school project and were having a major disagreement about the software's main direction. She listened for a while, then found it boring and prepared to return to her room.
