There were indeed very few leads in the fraud case. The bank was arrogant and refused to provide any reliable information. As for the police, they were even less willing to provide her with any clues. She could only ask Lu Yang for help. He searched through the IP addresses used by the fraud group one by one and then intercepted the information of those who had been deceived through other means.
Soon, she got more and more addresses, not only domestically, but also from abroad. In this way, she had to obtain the real address from them, or at least break through their loophole.
She thought about it all night, and the message she had sent the day before had received a reply. Those "spies" in various industries had passed her all kinds of information. Nowadays, with the development of the Internet, fraud gangs have emerged with an endless variety of fraud methods, even the methods of money laundering are bizarre.
She studied the red dots marked on the map, and suddenly thought of something, and rushed out. Xiaoxue came over with the documents, saw her anxious look, and chased after her.
"Is there any clue?" Xiaoxue asked.
"You'll know in a moment." She overtook the car in front of her, ran through several red lights, and actually arrived at the university.
"Looking for the professor?"
"No," he looked at Xiaoxue and took a book from her bag, "You wait for me here." He got off the bus and followed most people into the school.
Xiaoxue waited for her in the car for a long time. Finally, she saw her run out of the school. She got in the car, handed her the book, and sighed, "This kid thought he would be fine if he hid in the school."
"You mean, the person who cheated the professor is in school?" Xiaoxue said in surprise, "We should call the police and arrest him."
"Don't be in a hurry, the game of cat and mouse has just begun." She wanted to let the mouse fall into the rice jar by itself.
She was indeed a master at setting traps. She had used the bar near the school, posing as a teaching assistant, to get close to the simple-minded "college student" scammer. When she drove Zhuo Qiang's multi-million sports car past him, he looked at the string of skewers she had deliberately left in his hand.
That night, she received a message from the other party inviting her to talk about the thesis. The corners of her mouth curled up, like a mouse discovering a rice jar.
Xiaoxue helped her investigate the terminal from which the message was sent. The other party used a false identity, but it was certain that the other party was not committing the crime alone.
Zhuo Qiang knocked on the east door: "Can I come in?"
Xiaoxue walked out with her bag and nodded to him.
"You used my car?" Zhuo Qiang asked.
"Um."
"You know you made me lose a date?" he said disappointedly. "She was pretty."
"She didn't like your car?"
"Yes, she thought I was a liar."
This man tried his best to satisfy the vanity of every woman around him, just for a date. She looked at him with some sarcasm, without making any comments.
"As compensation, you have to have dinner with me." He sat down at her table.
"Let Lu Yang accompany you." She stood up, sat on the sofa beside her, crossed her legs, and picked up a book.
"He's working overtime today."
"Do you really treat him as an employee?" She curled her lips.
He sat next to her again and helped her turn the book in her hand. She was obviously absent-minded: "It seems that no one can please you." He got up and left.
Later, he rarely appeared in the courtyard. Lu Yang said that he took the woman abroad to eat, drink and have fun.
The professor's case soon came to a head; at least she had used some means to get his money back. As for the criminals who exploited others' trust and committed fraud, she sent all the information she had to the police anonymously.
Xiaoxue said that the professor paid a considerable fee to thank her and invited her to attend a famous painting auction.
But due to an unexpected incident, she didn't make it. That day, as she was driving onto the main road, she was met by Zhuo Qiang's sports car. However, the driver wasn't Zhuo Qiang, but a woman with short hair. She looked in the rearview mirror and noticed that the car, which was supposed to turn into the courtyard at the next intersection, had suddenly turned around and passed her. She followed it, nearly being forced into the guardrail by the car in front. "Stop!"
The driver sped frantically down the road, heading toward the suburbs, even outrunning the pursuing police car. Ahead lay a stagnant lake. Mu Zishan slammed on the brakes, "Are you crazy?" The car was about to overrun the barrier and plunge into the lake. It stopped, its front wheels already exposed, and the vehicle was swaying.
"Oh my God," she cautiously approached the right side of the vehicle, "Are you crazy?" Before the people inside could answer, the vehicle suddenly fell down.
"thump!"
Her heart trembled. She hadn't expected the water to cover the rear of her car. She quickly grabbed a metal bar from her car and jumped in. She smashed the glass and shook the wall, but there was no response. The woman in the driver's seat struggled frantically. Mu Zishan kindly dragged her out, but he couldn't believe she'd surfaced and headed straight for another car on the shore.
"Damn it!" She calmed herself down, took a deep breath, and dove back into the lake. He'd bruised his forehead from not wearing a seatbelt. She slammed the car door open with all her might, and he slipped out. Mu Zishan held his arm, swam up, and dragged him to shore. She untied his tie and buttons, listened to his heartbeat and breathing, and anxiously applied first aid, once, twice, three times...
"Cough cough!" He vomited the water in his stomach. His chest hurt so much that he opened his eyes with difficulty.
Mu Zishan was so tired that he sat down on the ground. After resting for a while, he approached Zhuo Qiang again and made sure that his heartbeat had recovered before he stood up and looked around. This place was more than ten kilometers away from the city.
