Chapter 33: Escaping from Marriage

The driver looked at him, shook his head, and got in the car to pick up passengers. But he soon came back and got in his car, followed by a man and a woman who looked very anxious.

"Master, let's go quickly." Zhuo Qiang said.

The driver saw someone catching up from behind, so he quickly started the car and drove away. He thought to himself, "Is this a movie? Could it be a wedding robbery or something?"

Mu Zishan panted and leaned back in his chair: "These bodyguards are too fierce."

"Master, please stop at the square ahead." Zhuo Qiang said.

They got out of the car, sat on the chairs beside, looked at each other and smiled.

"That was so exciting just now," Zhuo Qiang said, "What on earth just happened?"

Mu Zishan took a deep breath and looked at Lu Yang. He also wanted to know what she thought.

"Wang Yao dragged me backstage, and then I saw Lu Yang's mother there. She seemed to know I was going there, and took me directly to his room. But it was too late. The wedding was moving forward, and she was very anxious, like an ant on the hot pot. She took me to the back door of the hall by myself. When I came to my senses, I found that I had been sent to the wedding venue. Then the bodyguards rushed up and grabbed my arms. The normal reaction is of course to fight them. Luckily, I learned some boxing abroad. If I hadn't, I would have died an ugly death."

"You were pinned to the ground," Zhuo Qiang also witnessed what happened later. "If I hadn't rescued you, you don't know how badly you would have been beaten."

"You two are the same." Lu Yang smiled.

"That's right, who is like you? You can't fight, you can only run." Zhuo Qiang laughed at him.

"The bodyguards my dad hired are well-trained. You two are no match for them."

"Your father is really bold," Mu Zishan said. The two people didn't understand what he meant and looked at her. "Isn't it? Isn't he just afraid that you will run away from the marriage?"

They all nodded at the same time, and it was indeed true.

"If you run away like this, there won't be any trouble in your family, right?" Zhuo Qiang asked.

Lu Yang pulled out his phone and called home. On the other end of the line was his father's fury, and his mother's persuasion. Although the woman's family was wealthy and prestigious, the Lu family wasn't considered high-flying by comparison, and there was no sense of being at a disadvantage. He simply endured some resentment.

Zhuo Qiang went to buy three cups of coffee and came back. The rain started to fall again. They found a place to hide from the rain and stood there, feeling the cold wind. Lu Yang had to go back, so they waited for a car and the three of them went to his house.

"I think it's better for us to accompany you in. It would be no fun if your dad locked you in the room." Zhuo Qiang said.

"Let's go."

When he opened the door and went in, his mother was very happy to see her son back, and quietly told him that his father did not insist on him getting married.

He stood in front of his father: "Dad!"

"You still remember to come back?" Dad Lu said sternly. "I thought you didn't want this family anymore. You've always had your own ideas since you were little. Now that you've grown up and become independent, you think you can do whatever you want, don't you?"

"His father, there are guests here, so just say less." Lu's mother reminded.

Only then did Father Lu notice the two people behind his son. They were the two culprits who had caused such a scene at the wedding. However, he also acted politely: "Why don't you invite the guests to sit down?"

Mu Zishan didn't know how to get along with her elders, so she could only sit quietly on the sofa, watching Zhuo Qiang exchange a few pleasantries with his father. Then his stern gaze fell on her again: "Your name is Mu Zishan?"

"Yes," Mu Zishan nodded, "That's the name."

Zhuo Qiang chuckled, because she looked like an ugly daughter-in-law meeting her parents-in-law.

"Are you from here too?"

"Well, my home is in Penghu District, so it should not be far from here," she replied.

"I heard from that girl Wang Yao that you and Lu Yang went to the same school and later went abroad."

"Yes."

"Who else is at home?" asked Lu's mother.

"Ah?" She thought for a moment, "My parents are divorced, and I live alone."

"Are you working again now?" asked Lu's father.

"I'm a freelancer." She said with some embarrassment.

"Mom and Dad, why are you asking these questions?" Lu Yang said.

"What's the big deal?" Mother Lu moved closer to Mu Zishan. "I liked her the moment I saw her. If you had brought her to see us earlier, your father wouldn't have forced you to get married."

"A grown man should get married first and then build a career. Don't be like those rich boys who play around and end up with nothing but illnesses." This is the concept that Lu's father taught Lu Yang and never let him become arrogant.

"Okay, since it's rare for two friends to visit our home, just stay here. I'll go and clean up two rooms." said Lu's mother.

"Okay, I want to chat with Uncle Lu too." Zhuo Qiang said. He didn't care about the look Mu Zishan gave him at all.

Finally, Mu Zishan gave up. After listening to their chatter about everything under the sun, she soon found her interest in playing chess again. Mother Lu showed her around the house and showed her some photos of Lu Yang as a child, praising her son endlessly. "He was so well-behaved when he was little, always following us around. Later, as he grew up, he didn't cling to us anymore. His dad was very strict with him, so he had to hide from us no matter what he did." "This one was taken at the beach. He was afraid of the water and didn't dare get close. He was just playing in the sand." "This one was for his tenth birthday. It was just the three of us. He didn't want to have friends over."

"Auntie, why are you crying?" Mu Zishan looked at the tears in the corners of her eyes. These photos were obviously full of love, so why would she be sad?

"Lu Yang has been independent since he was young. His father was afraid that he would learn bad things outside, so he was always so strict. As a result, he never dared to resist his father's wishes." She wiped away the tears from the corners of her eyes.

"It's probably due to lack of communication. It will be fine later." Mu Zishan comforted.

"Who knows?" She was still very sad. "I don't ask him to be rich, as long as he is happy. He has been so depressed every day recently because of this marriage."

Mu Zishan didn't know what to say. The two people playing chess nearby were looking at them. Lu Yang, who came down from upstairs, also saw this scene: Lu's mother was leaning on Mu Zishan's shoulder, and she was holding her shoulder and comforting her.

Dinner was simple, all home-cooked dishes that Lu Ma was known for, with authentic Chongqing flavors. Mu Zishan added two bowls of rice, not sure if she was truly hungry or just trying to please the person who cooked it.

Lu's father's attitude towards her gradually changed, and he wanted her to stay for a few more days. However, they had already planned to leave the next day because Officer Lin only helped her apply for a time until tomorrow. If she didn't return on time, she was afraid that trouble would ensue.
