Chapter 67 Divorce

The ambulance arrived quickly and took the injured to the hospital. When they looked for Mu Zishan again, she was nowhere to be found.

The news spread quickly, and even Shan Cong believed that she had really returned.

Mu Zishan is no longer in Beijing; she's returned to Chongqing. She's built a small house in the yard of her former home. Its exterior is vertical, while its interior is slanted. From time to time, she spends some time in this special little house.

The nights here are always so dull. Sitting on the roof, she saw a figure enter the yard and then enter the house through the back door. His movements were very agile, and he must be someone familiar with this place.

The lights in the house lit up, and gradually, the sound of running water could be heard. She drank one last glass of wine, went downstairs, and saw that the light in her brother's room was on. She pushed open the door and heard the sound of someone showering in the bathroom. She was a little excited. It had been so long since she had been in her brother's room. All his things were still there, except for some "new" clothes in the closet and a backpack that looked like it had been used for a long time.

She stood at the bathroom door and heard the water stop running. Someone opened the door and came out. He and she exchanged glances. In front of her was a man with slightly long hair and a face covered in stubble. He was not her brother who loved cleanliness.

"Who are you?" the man spoke, pushed her aside, and went to the closet to find clothes to put on.

She didn't answer, but just observed him. Her palms were very rough and even the soles of her feet were covered with thick calluses.

He noticed some traces of moss on her clothes and asked, "Did you come in from the roof?"

"I saw you up there," she said.

"Although this place doesn't belong to anyone, as a civilized person, if you want to find a place to stay here, it's best not to take this family's belongings," he said confidently. "As a thief, you should also understand some rules."

She smiled and said, "This is my home."

He was a little surprised at first, and found a photo of her in Mu Zibai's room. She looked exactly like him. At this time, he said politely: "I have lived here for so long, and I didn't expect to see the person in the photo for the first time."

They walked out of the room, and he went to the kitchen to make some noodles, and placed a simple bowl of noodles in front of her. She didn't mean to ask him to leave, but he said he would leave after dinner.

"No, if you like, you can stay in my room."

"Isn't he coming back?"

"He has gone to another place."

"Then I'll stay here for a few days. I'll leave after a few days when I've adjusted my schedule."

His name was Baili, and he told her he'd stumbled upon the courtyard by chance. Starving, he went inside to find something to eat, and luckily found some chocolate and candy to soothe him. When he woke up the next day, he realized no one was there. After many trips, he'd always come back to thank the owner, but all he saw was the empty house besides the photos. He'd come to this place as a refuge, regularly relaxing and refocusing his mind to face every challenge.

Baili has been to Tibet, climbed Mount Everest on foot, and even lived on a small island in Hainan for a month, much like Robinson Crusoe. He has traveled to many places, always capturing his experiences in words and photos, and sharing them through books for everyone who loves adventure.

He said he liked this place very much. Although he didn't see anyone, he could feel the affection between the two owners in the photo, which was something he had never felt before.

He is an orphan who has lived in an orphanage since childhood and has not received any formal education, but he is born with eyes that can discover beauty.

"To be honest, maybe it's because you and your brother look so good in the photo that I stayed."

When he spoke, he always liked to put himself in a very high position, as if he was the only one who deserved to live in such a beautiful house. He liked to drink, and he almost drank up all the fine wines in the warehouse.

"I seem to have seen that house outside before," he said, "I didn't expect that you are also a person who likes to torture yourself." The wine glass rubbed against the tablecloth, making a very subtle sound.

She didn't finish all the noodles, but poured the rest into a porcelain bowl at the door. This was her habit in the past, for the stray cats and dogs.

Mu Zishan washed the dishes and went upstairs to rest. He heard some noises in his brother's room, like someone exercising. He played some music in the room, but the hot and humid air was still baptized. The sound of thunder in the sky could no longer be blocked by any sound.

The sounds from her brother's room also entered her ears, and tonight was destined to be a sleepless night.

On a fresh morning, she cooked a hearty breakfast. When she went upstairs and knocked on her brother's room, she found he had already left. He had only left her a note: "See you sometime."

He is a very free and easy traveler who comes and goes as he pleases.

In the empty room, she didn't even have the courage to speak.

"Hello?"

Wang Yao called her and said, "Dong Xiuxiu said he saw you in your neighborhood. At first I thought he was lying, but it turned out to be true. Why didn't you tell me to call?"

She smiled helplessly: "I was in a hurry to come back and forgot to tell you."

"Really? I'm on my way to you now, please don't go out."
