"It's you!" she remembered.
The painter was very happy that she still remembered him. He had only seen her photo on the news last time, which gave him the courage to hold an exhibition in this place and invited her without hesitation.
His shyness didn't affect Mu Zishan's affection for him, because the painting truly captured all her emotions at the time. After the car accident, she came to England alone. With no one to confide in, she was moved by Zhuo Qiang's feelings and it took her a year to recover.
She said she wanted to buy the sketch because it captured the situation at the time.
The artist readily agreed and gave her the sketch. She treated him to a meal, and at the hot pot restaurant, they chatted extensively, mostly about things in England. A big part of his decision to return to China was also because of the sketch, as he believed Chinese talent was what he was meant to paint.
They drank some wine and talked until the evening. He couldn't hold his liquor very well, so Mu Zishan used his hand to call his manager and put him in the car.
She held the painting, took a taxi, went home, unpacked all the packaging, took a stool, hung it on the wall, and then went back to her room to sleep contentedly.
When she woke up in the morning, a dazzling gaze fell on her. She pushed aside the quilt and accidentally stepped on the broken glass from last night, cutting her foot: "Ah!"
A scream caused her to fall to the ground. Blood dripped onto the floor as she struggled to walk out. Ouyang Yusheng from next door knocked on her door just as she had already walked down the stairs.
He saw the wound on her foot, picked her up and stuffed her into his car.
Because of the morning rush hour, it took them an hour to get to the hospital. He carried her into the hospital, and the emergency room nurse treated her wounds. A nurse came out and said, "Go and pay the bill for her."
He took it and looked inside worriedly.
"Go ahead, it's all right now," the nurse explained, noting his concern. "I don't know how I could be a husband like you."
He followed the nurse to pay the bill, and Mu Zishan, who was sitting in a wheelchair, didn't say anything. The nurse thought that the two of them had hurt themselves because of a quarrel, so she kept blaming Ouyang Yusheng.
"Nurse," Mu Zishan couldn't bear to listen any longer, "He's just my neighbor."
The nurse seemed a little embarrassed and could only hand her over to Ouyang Yusheng, gave her a few instructions, and then returned to her post. Ouyang Yusheng pushed her out of the hospital, picked her up, and walked to the car.
She placed her hands on his neck, watching his throat rise and fall, and recalled the past.
He and she had not spoken for a long time. Ouyang Yusheng, who had been guarding her all the time, seemed very gentlemanly and did not easily disturb her life.
He put her in the car, and from the back seat she said, "Thank you."
He glanced at her in the rearview mirror, and she knew full well that he didn't care about the thank you.
Her wound couldn't be exposed to water for a week, so Ouyang Yusheng moved in to take care of her. While she watched TV, he washed the dishes. When she needed to go to the bathroom, he waited outside. When she wanted to sit in the yard, he carried her out and tidied the yard. When she wanted to eat, he personally learned recipes and cooked simple meals.
Dong Xiuxiu came once and happened to meet them in the yard. Seeing her injured foot, she was a little worried: "Are you okay?"
"It's okay, it will be fine in a few days." She asked him to sit down and asked some questions about various cases. More and more people are looking for her now, but now she can only tell the clients the existing information, and other issues that need to be handled personally are put aside for the time being.
Dong Yuyu didn't really want her to become a detective. At least in his opinion, the profession was fraught with controversy. Especially since her recent fame had spread across major media outlets, she was being approached by more and more people, including some criminals. The potential for trouble would likely outweigh the benefits.
She would not listen to his opinions, and Dong Xiuxiu could only try his best to help her distinguish between good and bad.
After her injury heals a little, she has to go back to her hometown because Du Ming and his men are in trouble.
As she entered the village, she was stopped by several cars. A cunning-looking man got out of the car. He was a Taiwanese who had come here to do business.
"Are you Miss Mu?" The other person stepped forward, seemingly very polite, but there was no way to hide the calculation in her bones. "I've heard that there is a beautiful and capable woman behind the Du brothers and sisters, but I didn't expect her to be so young."
His smile is creepy, like a cat that has eaten a mouse. No matter how he behaves, he is still a cat that doesn't eat vegetables.
"Are you Mr. Liu?" Mu Zishan got out of the car and looked around first. Their people had already started construction. They were going to build a tourist attraction in this village and had dug a big pit in the middle.
Du Ming had already told her on the phone that this Taiwanese man wanted to buy the farm and turn the entire area into a flower and grass garden, specifically providing a place for city dwellers to take photos and have fun.
The Taiwanese man got in the same car with her, constantly talking about how much he could benefit her. When they arrived at the farm, Du Ming helped her carry her luggage inside. Du Mei quietly told her, "He's not a good person."
Seeing that Du Ming and his sister didn't like him, Boss Liu wisely left and even sent someone to give them some famous tea. Du Mei repeatedly refused and sent them out of the farm.
During the meal, Du Ming explained in detail how Boss Liu had come with ill intentions and was determined to buy his farm. However, Du Ming and Du Mei both understood that he profited from the environment, while their farm was dedicated to allowing everyone to experience the bounty of nature and to exchange their labor for the experience of various foods. Their business philosophies were fundamentally different, and the siblings would not allow their hard work to go to waste.
