"That's perfect. Do you want to go together?" Ren Qi invited happily. "It doesn't matter if we're just two people."
The three of them looked at each other and decided there was no need to be rude, so they got in the car anyway.
They went to a Western restaurant and Jin Lu introduced their relationship.
Ren Qi was very surprised: "Your name is Jin Lu, his name is Xia Yue, and her name is Ouyang Zishan. You are actually brother and sister? Don't you have the same father?"
"It's indeed not." Xia Yue said.
Ouyang Zishan stepped on Xia Yue's foot, then said to Ren Qi, "It's very rude of you to ask about other people's family relationships like this."
"Okay, I just want to make friends with you guys," he ordered some food, "Do you want to drink?"
"No!" Jin Lu said, "I'm going out for a while." He called his mother and told her that he had to study at school and would be back later.
After dinner, they took the bus back by themselves. I let him get on the bus and asked the driver to drive back.
Before the exam, she was not in a good mood and sneaked out of school and walked alone on the street. On weekdays and school days, there were almost no people hanging around on the street.
She kicked away the small stones on the roadside and suddenly heard a scream.
"ah!"
She approached the bottom of the stairs and saw a white-haired old man, his clothes were a little dirty. She walked over carefully, looked around, and saw no one. She walked up and whispered, "Grandpa!"
The old man turned around and found her voice, very surprised: "Little naughty bug, why did you just get out of school? Grandpa has been waiting for you for a long time."
"Huh?" She was a little confused. This grandpa looked strange, like some sick people she saw in a nursing home. "Grandpa, do you know where your home is?"
"Stinky boy, bring grandpa out, how would grandpa know?"
She was hit on the head by him and was spoken to with a look of disgust.
She checked her phone and saw that it was almost noon. She looked at the money in her wallet. Although it was not much, it was enough to treat him to a meal: "Grandpa, are you hungry? I'll take you to eat."
"Okay, okay, I'm hungry, hungry." He held Ouyang Zishan's hand and kept letting go. When they reached the ice cream shop, he stopped and insisted that she buy him a cone. Ouyang Zishan had eaten too much and had a stomachache, so he deliberately ate most of it before giving it to him.
She went to a small mutton rice noodle shop and ordered two bowls of rice noodles, which she thought were good. She asked the chef to cook them for a little longer. Seeing that he was not picky about food, she felt relieved.
Her cell phone kept ringing, so she simply turned it off and put it in her backpack. Seeing that she still had some money left, she planned to take the old man to the amusement park.
At school, Xia Yue ran to the first class of the senior high school department and found that they had already gone to the physical education class. She quickly ran to the stadium and said, "Brother!"
Jin Lu heard Xia Yue's cry, put down the football and kicked it to other students, then ran towards him: "What's wrong?"
"Ouyang skipped class and disappeared," he said nervously, "She must have run out of school during our extracurricular activities class."
"Why aren't you looking at her?"
"What can I do? I can't just follow her wherever she goes, right?" Xia Yue said aggrievedly, "If she goes to the bathroom or something, I can't always follow her around."
"You know she's been in a bad mood lately because of her parents' issues. You should pay more attention to her."
"She's my deskmate, of course I noticed her, but I couldn't stop her from running out of school on her own."
The two called her separately, but she not only didn't answer, but also turned off her phone. The two thought of a way to get out, and entangled with the security uncle at the school gate for a long time. In the end, they got out of the school gate with the help of Ren Qi.
They were a little surprised to see Renqi so flustered, but they didn't ask too many questions. They got off the train at a nearby subway station and said thank you.
Ren Qi made a phone call in the car: "What do you think of Grandpa?"
"Master, grandpa said he wanted to go out for a walk, but he didn't think he could walk far." There was also an anxious voice on the phone.
"You're fired," Ren Qi said after hanging up the phone. Grandpa is sick now. If he can't be found as soon as possible, he's afraid he'll suffer a lot. Then he called the housekeeper and said, "Tell everyone in the family to go out and look for Grandpa. Don't come back if you can't find him."
He got so anxious and angry that he kicked the seat in front of him, scaring the driver so much that he didn't dare to say a word.
Grandpa Ren, now seventy years old, has enjoyed a leisurely life at home since handing over the company to his son, Dali. He's been incredibly demanding of Ren Qi, cultivating his business acumen from a young age and honing his skills through practical opportunities. He was once courted because he'd secured the most expensive piece of suburban land at the lowest price, and Grandpa even rewarded him with a month-long trip abroad. But upon returning, Grandpa's health had deteriorated. He'd begun to lose track of Ren Qi and even forgotten small details. Doctors have labeled this a neurodegenerative disease, sometimes called Alzheimer's disease, or dementia.
On the other side, Ouyang Zishan took the old man on the carousel and took him to the lake to row a boat. Gradually, it was getting dark.
After a day of getting along, she was able to confirm that the old man had severe AD. The two of them leaned against each other and sat on a chair by the river. "Grandpa, it's actually good to forget some unhappy things, don't you think?"
"What did you forget?" The old man leaned closer to the river. "I didn't forget. Aren't you my eldest grandson?"
