Chapter 79 Running Away from Home

On Monday, at school, Ren Qi didn't see Ouyang Zishan in the junior high school, so he asked Jin Lu: "Did Ouyang Zishan go to Beijing?"

Jin Lu looked at him: "How do you know? Did you help her behind the scenes?"

Ren Qi pushed him away: "What are you talking about? I only found out about it the day before yesterday."

"The day before yesterday?" Jin Lu thought of the coffee shop. He must have known it there.

Jin Lu and Xia Yue were in no mood for class these days. When they returned home, they didn't see Ouyang Zishan. Their mother seemed very guilty and waited by the phone every day.

Mu Zi'an failed to pick up Mu Ouyang Zishan at the train station, and there was no news from the Siheyuan.

Ouyang Zishan was walking through the alleys of Beijing. Her phone was almost dead, so she found a restaurant and rushed to her phone. She was debating whether to go directly to the Siheyuan, her mother's former office, a place known to detective fans online. On the one hand, she hoped her mother was there, but on the other, she was terrified because she knew her mother couldn't be there.

She thought about it for a long time, until she had nowhere to go at night, she walked to the gate of the courtyard, but she didn't dare to knock on the door, so she curled up at the door alone.

Zhuo Qiang came back from work and saw someone at the door. He looked around but saw no one else. She was holding a black backpack, looking like a child who had just run away from home.

The driver got out and said, "Boss, do you need me to wake her up?"

"No, you go back." He unbuttoned his shirt and sat down on the stairs with her side by side.

Because the temperature was a little low at night, her body trembled. She opened her eyes and was startled to see the man sitting next to her.

"Who are you?" Ouyang Zishan hugged his backpack tightly.

"You're sitting in front of my house, so I should be the one asking you this question."

She wiped her nose and asked, "Is this your home?"

He stood up and nodded: "That's right."

She was a little disappointed again: "Do you know Mu Zishan?"

"Of course she does," he said. "She used to live here."

"It means she's not here now."

Zhuo Qiang understood what she meant and asked, "Who are you to her?"

"Daughter, her daughter." She said firmly.

"Is that so?" Zhuo Qiang said, "Would you like to come in and sit down?"

She nodded. "Can I stay here? I'll find a way to pay you for the room."

The two walked in, and Aunt Lin saw the girl following Zhuo Qiang, who looked very much like Mu Zishan. Zhuo Qiang put his finger between his lips and told Aunt Lin not to say anything.

Aunt Lin went to the kitchen to cook and brought the food out. Ouyang Zishan devoured all the dishes like a greedy cat. She was assigned to the east room. Zhuo Qiang went to the yard to call Wang Yao.

After receiving the call, Wang Yao confirmed that Ouyang Zishan had arrived in Beijing safely, and she felt relieved.

Jin Lu, who was sitting at the dining table, asked, "Mom, can we go and get her back?"

Wang Yao thought for a moment and said, "Let's let her stay in the courtyard for now. Zhuo Qiang is still trustworthy."

Xia Yue said: "What should we say to the school?"

“I can only go to school temporarily, or see if I can go to school there.”

The two children looked at each other and continued to eat. After dinner, they went to the study. Jin Lu thought that his mother would most likely let Ouyang Zishan stay in Beijing. Xia Yue also thought so, so the chances of them seeing Ouyang Zishan would become less and less.

Xia Yu, who lived downstairs, suggested that Wang Yao take the child back home. However, Wang Yao felt that there was nothing wrong with the child wanting to know about her mother's past life. If she wanted, Wang Yao would let her stay in Beijing to study. If that wasn't possible, the whole family would move to Beijing, saying that they could be reunited.

Xia Yu couldn't convince her, but considering how much she valued Ouyang Zishan, it was very likely that the whole family would move to Beijing. To be on the safe side, he had to find a job transfer to Beijing first, otherwise she would catch him off guard.

The next day, Ouyang Zishan woke up and walked out of the room, stretching in the yard. He hadn't seen Zhuo Qiang clearly the previous day, but today he saw him watering the flowers and plants in the yard, so he walked over.

"Are you awake? There's breakfast inside, go and have some." Zhuo Qiang said with his back to her.

Although she had never met him before, she knew he was her mother's friend and immediately felt that he was a trustworthy person. When they went to the restaurant, Aunt Lin prepared some Western breakfast for her: "I don't know if you like it or not."

"Thank you, it's very good." She took a big bite of the bread.

Aunt Lin was relieved to see that she liked it. The child had a face with Western features, yet also had an Eastern aesthetic. "Child, what's your name?"

"Ouyang Zishan!"

"Are you really Zishan's child?"

"Do you know my mother?"

"Yes, yes, she used to live here."

"You can just call me Ouyang, but what should I call you?" Ouyang Zishan asked.

"They all call me Aunt Lin. I'm used to it. You should call me that too."

"Okay, Aunt Lin!" She pointed to the wall outside. "Is he also a tenant here?"

"No, this courtyard belongs to the young master."

"Why are you calling him Master?" Ouyang Zishan shook his head. "He looks almost forty."

“Once you’re used to something, it’s not easy to change it.”

"Then what should I call him?"

"Well, you should go ask the young master." Aunt Lin went into the kitchen again.
