Chapter 84: Sending to the Mountain Area

At first, she was very opposed to such behavior, but later she found that the people here never minded such behavior. They went to school and left school with a smile on their faces every day. She even met some classmates on the road and climbed from one mountain to another together.

Ouyang Zishan was not a good student, but she gradually found that people in her class and even those in other grades were a little afraid of her, so she started playing tricks on them. She took a few girls out of class and left them on the top of a mountain, unable to find their way home. They had no choice but to seek help from the villagers.

Xiaowei was in the same class as her. He was a very low-key student who never showed off in front of others. Once, the teacher asked him to stand up and read aloud a classical Chinese text, but he stuttered and couldn't finish a sentence.

"Teacher, let me help him read." Ouyang Zishan stood up. "This article is indeed a bit confusing."

"Then you read it." The Chinese teacher had a very good impression of her, but he just didn't like her free and easy attitude in class.

During the English class, the whole class was very alert. Every student put their hands on the table and looked at the English teacher eagerly.

Ouyang Zishan's English skills were excellent, and her pronunciation was even better than her English teacher's. As a result, she was chosen as the English class representative, responsible for morning reading and pre-class recitation. Compared to other teachers, Ouyang Zishan liked her English teacher the most, partly because she was her homeroom teacher and partly because she was the only one who understood her pursuit of freedom.

Because there was no formal physical education teacher, every activity class, they just did some simple warm-up exercises and then started free activities. She didn't like the boys' basketball or the girls' rubber band.

She suggested that the class teacher provide some other sports facilities for everyone, such as badminton, tennis, football and so on.

"Ouyang, I know your idea is useful for students' development in all aspects, but our school's mission now is to send children to better high schools so that they have the opportunity to go to better universities."

"Teacher, I think exercise can relieve everyone's stress, but look, a large number of students don't participate. They can only study in isolation in the classroom."

"I'm sorry, that's all I can do," the head teacher said, still understandingly. "There are some table tennis rackets in school. If you want to play, you can take them."

Ouyang Zishan looked around. There was only an extremely worn-out ping-pong table. During the lunch break, she began an announcement over the school loudspeaker: "Hello! Hello! Everyone, everyone. I'm Ouyang Zishan from Class 1, Grade 1. I'm looking for volunteers to contribute to the development of our school's public facilities. Interested students, please gather at the school gate at 1:00 PM. Once again..."

The head teacher in the classroom cafeteria listened carefully.

"Teacher Sheng, isn't this the new student in your class?"

"Yes."

"What is she doing? Calling for volunteers?"

"You'll know when you go and take a look later." After finishing his meal, the principal took his own dishes and went out to wash them.

Seeing Ouyang Zishan run out of the school as soon as the class was over, Xiaowei took the bowl from under her desk and helped her get a meal in the cafeteria. When she came back after work, she saw the meal on the table, sat down and ate quickly, looked at the time, and went out with a pencil and notebook.

Xiaowei helped her wash the dishes and then followed the other classmates to the school gate.

"Thank you all for participating in this volunteer activity. On behalf of the teachers and students at school, I thank you all," she said. "Now let's form a line. Boys, stand on my right, girls, stand on my left. Okay, I've marked out some areas on the grass over there. There are a few sickles and hoes over there. I just borrowed them from a farmer. They say they're for mowing grass, but I've never used them before. You can try clearing the weeds first. Of course, be safe first. Boys, follow me and find some rocks."

After that, everyone went their separate ways. She found an abandoned stone quarry with plenty of stones, enough for them to build two ping-pong tables.

The principal and some teachers followed behind them, and seeing how enthusiastic the students were, they joined the work. After they brought the stones, Ouyang Zishan began to build the platform according to the principles of physics. This skill he had learned from Xia Yue, but he wanted to use small stones to build a bridge.

Everything was done before the afternoon classes, just in time for free activities in the afternoon.

Ouyang Zishan's homeroom teacher shared her suggestions for the school with the principal. Unexpectedly, the principal replied, "Given the students' behavior today, even if we have less funding, we must create an environment for the children to play."

"Principal?" Teacher Sheng hadn't expected him to say that. "Actually, students can use exercise to relieve stress during their spare time, and it's also a way to cultivate their resilience."

"You, even if you're leaning towards Ouyang Zishan from your class," the principal reminded her, "don't ignore her shortcomings."

"I see."

When they were going home, Xiaowei walked in front of her without talking to her. He just walked on without appreciating the surroundings. She called him, "Wait a minute!"

Xiao Wei turned around and saw her jumping into the terraced fields. The rape flowers were in full bloom, and there were many bees and butterflies. Xiao Wei followed her in and saw her catching a bee.

"Ah!" She caught the bee in her bare hands and stuck its weapon into her thumb, "How does this bee bite?"

"Puff!" Xiao Wei laughed out loud, "That's the sting on its tail, not its mouth."

She followed him out of the rapeseed field. He looked at her finger, pulled out the thorn, and then put her finger in his mouth.

"What are you doing?" She retracted her hand.

"Disinfection!" He looked at her, but unexpectedly her face turned red all of a sudden. She turned her back to him and kept walking forward.

In the evening, Xiaowei was busy with his homework. His grandmother was in the house preparing dinner. When she came out, she saw Ouyang Zishan climbing a tree near the house and asked, "Ouyang, why aren't you doing your homework?"

Ouyang didn't hear what her grandmother said and continued to climb up. Ever since Xiaowei taught her how to climb trees, she has been fascinated by the feeling of being blown by the wind on the treetops.

"Grandma, she doesn't need to copy down words." Xiao Wei said helplessly, "Her English is better than the teacher's. She doesn't need to study anymore."

"Oh, so you don't have any other homework?" Grandma had never seen her do homework at home.

"She said not to use extracurricular time for studying, so she usually finishes it in class or uses study time the next morning to do it."

"Are all excellent students like this?" Grandma was puzzled. "Xiaowei, if you don't understand something, just ask others. Don't pretend to know."

"I know," Xiao Wei said, "Grandma, I'm hungry."

"The meal is already steaming. It will be ready in a moment."

He nodded and continued doing his homework.
