Chapter 87: Being Beaten

"He's my boyfriend."

"Boyfriend?" Godmother smiled. "How old are you?"

"Godmother, don't say that. You weren't that old when you had Brother Jinluo."

"Just because godmother has gone down the wrong path, I don't want you to go down the same path as me," she said. "He's not right for you."

"I think it's quite suitable," Ouyang Zishan said softly, "I know my godmother wants me to find someone who has no money or power, but without feelings, nothing is useful."

Wang Yao was angered by her words: "I'm just thinking about you. I hope you can live a peaceful life."

"Is that why you won't let me go abroad?" Ouyang Zishan raised his head. "I know you're just afraid that I'll end up like my mother, but godmother, don't forget that I'm also a person with my own thoughts. I'm not an animal. I have to do whatever you want me to do."

The godmother went downstairs to find a ruler, and the people below quickly went up to stop her: "Mother, what are you doing? Ouyang Zishan is not a child anymore, why are you hitting him?"

"None of your business."

Ouyang Zishan was beaten like this without uttering a single word. After her godmother finished beating her, she ran out angrily. It was raining outside, and everything seemed different because of the rain. The mixture of rain and tears made it difficult for her to see the road ahead. A spot of light appeared in front of her eyes, and then she lost all consciousness.

"Ouyang!"

"Ouyang!"

"Ouyang!"

Following the three people who ran out, the driver of the car quickly got out to check the situation and called an ambulance.

Wang Yao, who was resting on the bed, saw her husband answering a call from their son and asked, "Do they recognize him?"

"In the hospital," before he could tell the details of Ouyang Zishan's condition, the two of them rushed to the hospital.

Seeing the three of them standing outside the operating room, Wang Yao's legs went weak: "What's going on?"

"Mom!" Xia Yue went up to support her, "Ouyang was hit by a car just after leaving the community."

"What?" Wang Yao couldn't accept this fact. She never expected such a thing to happen. Ouyang had a special meaning to her. If anything happened to her, how would she explain to her parents?

Ren Qi sat aside without saying anything. Wang Yao did not see the essence of the matter clearly, but thought that Ren Qi had harmed Ouyang Zishan, so she cried and drove Ren Qi out.

Xia Yu hugged Wang Yao: "It's not his fault."

Wang Yao looked at him in shock: "This is my fault? My fault?"

"It was just an accident. None of us expected this to happen," Xia Yu comforted her. "The most important thing now is to ensure the safety of the child."

"I know, of course I know," she stood up and looked at every doctor and nurse who came in and out of the operating room. "She will be fine."

Xia Yue noticed something different about Jin Lu. This time, she felt he'd changed, but she couldn't quite put her finger on what. Hours of surgery had passed, and her mother's grief had left her exhausted. She was willing to let Ren Qi go, letting Xia Yue banish him from her sight.

After the operation, Ouyang Zishan was pushed into the intensive care unit, and her family stayed by her bedside.

"Who of you will come with me to the office?" asked the surgeon.

"I'll go!" Jin Lu followed him.

Dad took Xia Yue to stand outside the ward and asked in a low voice: "Xia Yue, why do I feel that your brother has been acting a little strange since he came back?"

"Strange?" Xia Yue thought for a moment, "What's strange?"

"His attitude towards Mom is a little strange."

Xia Yue looked at her mother in the ward and Ouyang Zishan lying there motionless: "Dad, maybe you're thinking too much."

"I hope so."

Xia Yue watched her father go in. She found a nurse and asked for the surgeon's office address. She stood outside the door, wanting to knock and go in, but Jin Lu had already come out. The two of them faced each other: "Brother, what did the doctor say?"

Jin Ruzhi glanced at him and then went to the ward.

Because visiting hours were limited, Mom and Dad could only stand outside and watch Ouyang Zishan.

Jin Lu stood behind them and said, "Mom and Dad, you guys go back. I'll keep an eye on you." His tone was not very friendly. "Xia Yue, take Mom and Dad back."

Wang Yao turned around and looked at him: "Why do you talk to mom and dad like that?"

"Mom," his eyes began to evade, "I don't think she wants to see you."

Wang Yao was deeply hurt by his words: "I'm your mother, why are you..."

Dad quickly took her away: "Xia Yue, go drive the car over here."

"oh!"

The family of three returned home. The mother sat on the sofa, looking at the family photo on the wall in despair: "What happened?"

Xia Yue poured them some water and said, "Mom and Dad, you guys take a rest first."

Dad was worried: "Go to the hospital and keep an eye on him for us."

"Xia Yue, wait a minute," his mother called out to him, "Do you know something?"

"Mom, what did you say?" Xia Yue's words were evasive. "What can I know?"

"Jin Lu and you have always had a good relationship. Don't you know why he treats your mother like this?" She started crying as she spoke. Xia Yue had no choice but to say something.

"I only know that my brother has always liked Ouyang."

"What?" Mom's head was full of confusion. "How did you know?"

"Do you remember the music box I gave to Ouyang when I went abroad?" he said, "There was something inside it."
