Chapter 91: Being the Boss

She walked out of the building and the wind started to blow outside. She took a taxi back and saw her godmother and godfather sitting at home.

Shan Cong had just called them. Wang Yao hadn't expected that she had just gone to the Public Security Bureau, and that it was for that psychiatrist. Wang Yao hadn't expected that the doctor had any problems. When Shan Cong asked Ouyang to go back to see a psychiatrist, she had already realized her mistake: "She has no mental problems, she just lost some of her memory because of a car accident." She began to explain to Shan Cong that in her opinion, Ouyang Zishan was the same as other normal people, except that he couldn't remember the past.

"What's going on?" Shan Cong asked on the phone.

When Ouyang Zishan opened the door and came in, Wang Yao hung up the phone: "I'll tell you the place next time."

Godfather saw Ouyang Zishan come in and said, "Are you back?"

"Yeah." She went upstairs. She heard her godfather say to her godmother, "What's the point of doing this? After today, she still won't remember anything. Didn't Jin Lu say that in her case, all she needs to do is train her memory more? Why did you take her to see a psychiatrist? Now it's okay. Fortunately, Ouyang is fine. Otherwise, if Jin Lu knew, he would definitely blame you."

"Isn't it for the sake of the child? Who knew that doctor was behaving inappropriately?"

"You'd better stay out of the children's business."

Ouyang Zishan was lying on the boat. Jin Lu came back and entered her room. Seeing that she ignored him, he asked, "What's wrong? Are you unhappy today?"

"I'm tired."

He helped her pull the quilt and kissed her forehead: "Tomorrow is a new day."

Sometimes Jin Lu also began to envy Ouyang Zishan's ability. No matter what unpleasant things happened in a day, she would forget them completely the next day.

Sure enough, the next day was another full of energy. Sitting in the living room, she kept switching channels when a piece of news caught her attention: a fire had broken out in an ancient building complex in the old city, burning several precious wooden buildings. The news only reported the firefighting process, revealing nothing about the true situation.

This incident did catch her attention. The fire caused the loss of several authentic Tang Dynasty artifacts. If it was an accident, these things would have been burned to ashes. But if it was not an accident, who took these precious antiques away?

"Ouyang, eat some fruit," the godmother placed the cut fruit in front of her, "don't look at it, luckily there were no casualties."

Her husband shook his head and told her not to disturb him.

"You're such a fool! All you do is lie on the sofa and read instead of teaching your students," my godmother complained. "Don't wait until your students don't even know who you are."

"No rush." Godfather was almost at retirement age, so teaching was much more free. He looked at Ouyang Zishan and said, "Ouyang, what do you think about this?"

"Godfather, I think you should listen to Godmother," she said, taking a few pieces of fruit and heading outside. "It's better for a goddaughter to handle this kind of thing. Just stay home and wait for my good news."

"Ouyang, where are you going? Remember to eat lunch," Wang Yao said. Seeing her come back to get her wallet, she sat down next to her husband with satisfaction. "Look at you, you just like to go along with her."

"The child likes to investigate, so let her go." The husband also took some fruit. "This fruit is very sweet."

Wang Yao watched the TV. The situation there was so complicated, and she didn't know if Ouyang Zishan would be in danger if he went alone, so she called Jin Lu.

"It's good that Jin Lu knows. If there's any danger, she can be helped."

"You're just worrying about nothing. What danger could there be?"

Ouyang Zishan arrived at the scene, and it was indeed even more chaotic than it looked on TV. She slipped in through the side door, and the fire that had just been put out in the room turned into a thick smoke that penetrated her mouth and nose: "Ahem!"

The person inside heard the voice and moved closer to her: "Officer Shan, there's someone here."

Shan Cong followed and saw that it was Ouyang Zishan: "Why are you here?"

"Ahem," she looked around, took a gas mask from a policeman, and took a deep breath. "What did you find?"

"Miss, you can't come in," a security guard caught up from behind, "I'm sorry, Officer Shan, she ran in while we weren't paying attention."

"It's okay, you guys keep working," he said to everyone, "I asked her to come."

"yes!"

Ouyang Zishan looked at him, and after everyone else left, she said, "Thank you. I'll treat you to dinner later when I have time."

Shan Cong followed behind her. He had just met her yesterday, but she had forgotten about him today. Just as Wang Yao had said, he asked, "How did you get here?"

"I came here just because I saw the news," she said, squatting on the ground, twisting the burnt ash fragments with her hands. "You look like the boss here, having been here longer than me. What have you discovered?"

He was not angry at her blunt tone. Instead, he wanted to test her detective ability, so he took her to the surveillance room and let her watch the footage.

Ouyang Zishan controlled the computer himself and replayed several scenes before the incident. He found a red dot in the corner of the famous painting. He stopped and observed again from the angle of other cameras. He found that the red dot inside was a timed self-ignition device.

"See? Someone put this here on purpose," she pointed to the red dot on the surveillance camera. "I think whoever put this thing there also took the real painting."

"Then how did he get away?" Shan Cong asked, "There are people monitoring this place every day."
