Chapter 98 JO

"We're here." They arrived at the 38th floor, the top floor where they had the most power. A helicopter could pick them up at any time, and there were more than twenty hostages on duty below.

"So fast?" Fenwu asked Dongya, "Have you found where they are?"

"Right away," Dongya now had to break through the store and the kidnappers' double defense system, "Right away, where are you?"

"38."

"Who are you scolding?" Linglong, who was in the car with Dongya, said angrily.

"The 38th floor," Fenwu said, unable to speak loudly. "I'm impressed. Tell us about the situation on this floor. Where can we escape?"

Ouyang Zishan had already reached the stairs leading to the top floor. Hearing gunshots, Fenwu protected her under his body and pulled out his pistol, but the other party attacked fiercely and he had to escape into the elevator.

His arm was slightly bruised. Amidst the gunfire, Ouyang Zishan had overheard the English conversation between the people above. They were negotiating on the second floor. She pressed the elevator button for each floor and continued down.

"They're in a gold shop on the second floor," Dong Ya saw them from the surveillance camera. "There are five kidnappers, three with AKs and a pistol, and two of the hostages have bombs strapped to their bodies."

"Someone has gone up to negotiate with them, be careful!" Linglong observed the situation outside.

After reaching the third floor, Ouyang Zishan walked down and saw the situation below through the glass ceiling. Several hostages were unconscious, there were police officers on the side wall, and negotiators were sitting opposite the kidnappers.

Who were they working for? A terrorist organization? Unlikely. They were after money, and they chose to rob a gold shop. No. One of them had an eye injury, apparently from an explosive. So, there was only one reason: the person he was trying to rescue was very important to them, and their goal was clear: a hostage exchange.

"What terms do you want?" The negotiator didn't know them well. "Money, or something else?"

"JO, hand him over to us, and these hostages will be safe."

"Who is JO?" Fenwu asked.

"JO, the most famous fraud expert, was sentenced on the 25th of last month for robbery and murder."

"Is there anything left to solve in this case?" Fenwu looked down and saw that the negotiator had started to panic.

"Because he escaped from prison last night." Dongya said.

"Oh my god, this is asking us to find someone."

The police have begun to increase their vigilance, as such meaningless negotiations may result in casualties at any time.

"JO escaped from prison yesterday," the negotiator said, sweat dropping from his forehead. "We're looking for him too."

"Stop talking nonsense," the kidnapper fired a shot at the upper glass. "If you don't see anyone in an hour, I'll kill one person. There are exactly 24 people here, including you."

There are twenty-four people down there, two of them have bombs strapped to their bodies, which means there are only 23 hours from now on.

The police have begun a city-wide search for JO, and they must find him before time allows.

Ouyang Zishan opened the window on the third floor and jumped onto the awning below. Fenwu didn't expect her to be so brave and jumped down with her.

"Donya, what's the message?"

"The detective system was given to Miss Detective..." Linglong held the computer and looked at the text on it.

"Miss Detective is our ID." Dongya explained.

"Well, someone saw him at a bar on the North Loop, but he's gone now."

"Please, can you tell me some useful information?" Fenwu followed Ouyang Zishan into the taxi.

"North Ring Road, the exact location is unclear."

"Trouble, North Ring Road!" Ouyang Zishan flipped through the map on his phone. There were more than twenty underground parking lots, a dozen hotels, five bars, three large cinemas, a commercial trade market, and a school around North Ring Road.

Where would a fraudster go? She whirled between these places. If those people weren't in the same group as him, he'd disguise himself for 23 hours. What disguise would allow him to successfully deceive everyone in those 23 hours? It was a battle of wits.

Linglong told the police the news, and the four of them went to the bar first.

Ouyang Zishan stood at the intersection, cars constantly passing by her. There were no bars, no parking lots, no shops, no cinemas, no schools. One hour, a hostage died in the shopping mall. Two hours, three hours...

The street lights kept changing. Ouyang Zishan came out of the trade market and saw an empty taxi coming towards her. She waved and got in.

"Miss, where are you going?"

"Xinrong Building!"

"I heard it's a mess over there," the driver said. "What are you doing there, young lady?"

It's already 1 a.m., six hours have passed.

"Can I borrow a cigarette?" She asked when she saw a lighter placed above the driver's seat.

"I'm sorry, I don't smoke."

"Oh," she said, "it's all right."

The car continued driving forward, and just as it was about to reach the Xinrong Building, the driver suddenly turned around, but someone was already blocking his way. The police fired several shots from the car, and Linglong, who had gotten out of the car, yelled, "There's someone up there, don't shoot."

Dongya drove towards him. Fenwu jumped out of another taxi and lay on the roof of that car, pointing a gun at the driver: "Stop!"

He braked, raised his hands, and said, "Little girl, you are very smart. But if you can find me faster, I might give you a reward, but it seems that I won't be able to do that now."
